Chapter 38 Frederick Was About to Return
Ethan felt a bit bored.
He leaned against the headboard, enjoying Chloe's care. She fed him and handed him water without a hint of a spoiled attitude!
Chloe was stunning, and Ethan knew how to treat himself right.
He dismissed his subordinates and pinned Chloe beneath him.
Chloe's cheeks flushed, her slender fingers pointing at his chest as she softly said, "Get up! You're injured."
Ethan's gaze was intense, exuding masculine energy.
She couldn't help but tremble.
Soon, the atmosphere in the private ward began to heat up. Ethan was passionate, and it was two hours before he let her go. Afterward, Chloe shyly nestled in his arms, acting coyly. "What's gotten into you today?"
Ethan lazily replied, "Nothing! I just missed you."
Chloe kissed him.
She leaned in and said, "Frederick is coming back in a couple of days. I want you to come over for dinner! Frederick's company has several projects that would be perfect for you. Make sure to impress him!"
Ethan's gaze darkened.
Chloe was reluctant to leave him, but she knew Ethan didn't like her being too clingy, so she left after staying for only half a day.
Sitting in the black car, she couldn't help but call Frederick.
Frederick had an important meeting today and had his phone off all day, only just turning it on.
He answered, "Chloe, what's up?"
Chloe's eyes still glistened with the aftermath of their intimacy. She traced circles with her slender fingers and softly said, "Frederick, you have to help me."
Frederick loosened his tie. "What's wrong? Who bullied you?"
Chloe pouted, "Ethan got hurt! I asked him who did it, but he wouldn't say."
Hearing Ethan's name, Frederick remained noncommittal.
At this point, Chloe muttered to herself, "So many things happened today! Frederick, I ran into Oliver today. He said Charlotte's dad committed suicide in prison. It sounds so sad."
Frederick's hand, which was loosening his tie, paused.
He asked again, "What did you say?"
Chloe, without any suspicion, repeated, "It's Oliver's girlfriend. Her dad was in there for an economic case, and he committed suicide. It's really sad!"
Frederick didn't speak for a long time. After a moment, he told Chloe he had something to do and hung up.
Chloe was a bit anxious. "Frederick, I haven't finished talking."
"Next time."
Frederick called Charlotte, but he couldn't get through; her phone was off.
Frederick then called Michael.
Michael explained the situation to him and then chuckled. "Frederick, this is a great opportunity to play the hero."
Frederick laughed. "You're still teasing me at this time."
After hanging up, he immediately asked Secretary Smith to book a flight tonight. Secretary Smith was quite surprised. "Attorney Hawkins, you have a trial tomorrow morning."
'A trial!' Frederick suddenly came to his senses; he had completely forgotten!
He had been working on this case for a month, and the results were due tomorrow. There was no way he could leave.
Frederick thought for a moment and wrote a note for Secretary Smith: [Fly to Syeattel tomorrow morning and find Miss Russell. This is her address and phone number. Have her call me!]
Secretary Smith had met Charlotte before. She smiled. "Miss Russell is very beautiful!"
Frederick gave her a look.
Secretary Smith didn't dare say anything more.
After she left, Frederick continued to work on the materials for the trial the next morning, but he called Charlotte every hour or two, unable to get through even late into the night.
In the early morning, Frederick booked a flight for the following afternoon.
