Chapter 521 Lola, I Want to Live with You 4

Lola headed back to the bedroom to change her shirt. Johnny trailed right behind her.

Without even turning around, she said, "Seriously? You wanna watch me change?"

But she totally underestimated his boldness. Johnny slipped his arms around her from behind, helping her button up her shirt, sneaking in a few touches. Finally, he nuzzled into her neck. "Isn't it nice to just chill at home? I'll cook for you."

Lola turned her head. "Nah, I wanna eat out today."

She gave his face a playful pat, threw on a coat, and got ready to leave.

Johnny, in a good mood, walked her to the door. "Cool, I'll work from home then! Come back early, I'll be waiting."

Lola bent down to change her shoes, not sure if she heard him right.

As she left, she couldn't help but glance back at Johnny. He was on the phone, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking effortlessly handsome in his casual clothes, just like her dad.

Lola paused for a moment, watching him.

Johnny suddenly turned around, still on the phone, but he wasn't listening anymore. He just looked at Lola. He wanted to ask why she was staring at him like that, if she still had feelings for him.

Lola quickly looked away, opened the door, and left.

The door closed, and Johnny kept staring at where she had been for a long time.

Lola leaned against the door outside.

She lowered her eyes, lightly licked her lips, feeling a bit anxious inside.

She knew she shouldn't keep this thing with Johnny going!

Because of this, she felt uneasy even when shopping with Natalie and Molly.

Natalie clung to her arm affectionately, even giving her a massage when they got to a dessert shop.

Lola held Natalie's hand and sighed. "Looking at you young girls, I feel ancient!"

Natalie blinked. "Last night, Frederick was pacing back and forth, hands on his hips, and Charlotte's eyes were almost rolling. Frederick just said: 'Lola and Johnny are too much, these two just sleep together like that, Charlotte, aren't you going to do something about it?'"

Natalie was animated. Molly, being the quiet one, just smiled with her lips pressed together.

Lola felt embarrassed and glared at Natalie. "I really wish you'd just zip it!"

Natalie snuggled up to her. "But you don't want me suffer. Lola! What's Johnny like now?"

Lola took a sip of juice and mumbled, "He's still pretty handsome! But it's temporary; doesn't count! He'll be moving out in a few days."

Natalie got anxious. "How can that be! Lola, you need to be like Gavin, fight for your own interests! Look, now Molly is his, and her property will be their kids' in the future!"

Molly's face turned slightly red. But she liked Natalie and couldn't bear to blame her.

Lola patted Natalie's little hand. "Andrew and Chloe gave away a lot of property!"

Natalie thought about it and agreed!

She kept talking, mostly about Lola and Johnny's bed matters, and Lola ran off after eating.

Lola drove around in circles, silently thinking that at her age, she still had to be questioned about her feelings by kids! Johnny was nothing!

The meal just now didn't sit well with her, and since Lola often got hungry easily, she drove around looking for a place to eat.

Her phone rang, and it was Johnny.

Johnny's voice was soft. "Where are you? I'll come pick you up?"

Lola was stubborn. "Having a blast! Johnny, you don't have friends, so you cling to me! You're kinda pitiful!"

Johnny chuckled. "Yep, you're all I've got!"

Lola rolled her eyes and hung up the phone.

A bit later, Johnny sent her a photo of the food he made. It looked mouthwatering.

Having a handsome guy at home who cooked up a storm, just thinking about it was tempting!

Lola resisted the urge. In the end, she decided to visit Darren.

It had been almost a week since she last met him, and she hoped to keep things simple with Darren, for him to recover, act normally, find a girlfriend, and then get married.

What Darren wanted, she had given to Johnny long ago.

Lola bought a bouquet and some fruit.

At the hospital, she pushed open the VIP room door, and Darren was sitting by the window, staring outside.

The food on the table was untouched.

Lola sighed slightly, walked over, and sat down. "Why aren't you eating? Not your thing?"

Darren turned around, quietly looked at Lola for a long time, and softly asked, "Are you with Johnny?"

Lola didn't want to lie to Darren. She thought carefully and said, "I won't deny it; I still have feelings for him."

Darren's eyes turned slightly red.

Lola squatted down, gently holding his hand, and softly said, "Darren, you should find a girl who suits you! Get married, have kids, and have a complete family!"

She had considered Darren, but he needed all the love, which she couldn't give. As soon as the thought came up, Lola dismissed it. To her, Darren was like a child she had raised.

"Eat, okay?" Lola was very gentle with him.

Darren's voice was hoarse. "I'll eat when I'm hungry! You go, I'm fine."

Lola looked at him, her gaze suddenly falling on the bedside table.

There were some photos on it, all of her and Johnny together; one even showed Johnny pinning her against a car, looking very intimate.

Lola picked them up and flipped through them. "You had someone follow me?"

She threw the photos in front of Darren.

Darren picked up the photos, his expression one of unprecedented anger. "Yes! I followed you! I miss you so much it drives me crazy, but I'm afraid to call you—afraid you'll find me annoying, immature, or think I'm ruining your good time!"

After Darren finished speaking, the room was silent.

His chest heaved violently.

He had never confessed his feelings to Lola like this before.

Lola was a bit stunned.

After a long time, her lips moved as if she wanted to explain something to him, but then she felt it was unnecessary.

Finally, she spoke hoarsely, "Take good care of yourself!"

As she left, Darren called her name. But Lola didn't respond, the hospital corridor was long and empty, the sound of her high heels on the floor was very crisp.

She was clearly wearing a coat, but she still felt so cold. She still remembered the night she brought Darren home; he held her tightly and wouldn't let go.

He saw her as his salvation, but who would be her salvation? Lola leaned lightly against the corridor wall.

She irritably lit a long, thin cigarette, and quietly smoked.

Someone walked over, it was Darren's assistant, Lisa Cox, her eyes red.

Lola said calmly, "Take good care of him! I'll find a psychologist for him! I'll have someone come over tomorrow to provide Darren with psychological support."

Lisa wiped her tears and whispered, "Ms. Hawkins, it's not working."

Lola was slightly stunned.

Lisa started crying softly. "Darren has acute leukemia. The doctor said his condition is very bad, and he might not make it through the summer!"

Lola was dumbfounded.

She thought, 'Leukemia, not making it through the summer.'

She leaned against the white wall, feeling a wave of dizziness.

It took her a long time to steady herself. "Have you consulted the best experts from home and abroad?"

Lisa shook her head. "He wouldn't let me say anything, and he didn't want me to tell you."

Lola's eyes reddened. She patted Lisa's shoulder and then returned to the ward.

Darren was still looking out the window, lost in thought.

Lola took off her coat, changed into slippers, and went in, patting his head. "Still mad at me? Eat, or I'll shove it down your throat!"

The microwave was humming softly, and the ward was very quiet.

Darren said softly, "You found out?"

"Found out what?" Lola said, "Don't think I'll forgive you so easily!"

Darren was silent. After a while, he said, "I don't want your pity! I don't need you to stay by my side because I'm sick. I've thought about it. If you really like him, be with him!"

At least that Johnny was healthy. Besides, they had grown up together, and he knew her well. With Johnny's capabilities, he could also provide her with what she wanted.

Darren was broken both physically and mentally. The idea of keeping her was nothing but a delusional fantasy.

Lola listened silently. After a while, she said, "Don't talk nonsense! Eat!"

She didn't mention Johnny, but Darren knew she liked Johnny.

From the past to the present, her heart was always with Johnny.

Lola fed him, and Darren finally ate. She said hoarsely, "I'm like your mom!"

Darren quietly looked at her.

Lola ruffled his hair. "If you don't want to die, get treated! Otherwise, I'll just throw you into the river, and you'll never find me again."

Darren hugged her and didn't say a word. His head buried in her chest, just like that fragile, helpless child from before.

Lola's nose stung. She hugged him and softly said, "As long as I'm here, nothing will happen to you! Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Darren murmured, "I was afraid you'd despise me!"

Lola touched his face, feeling both soft and sad inside.

Darren's voice was muffled, "You can be with him, but you can't abandon me!"

"I'm not planning to be with him yet!"

Lola was busy at the hospital all day.

She arranged for expert consultations for Darren and applied for a match, but they had to wait for the results.

By the time she got back to the apartment, it was already 8 PM.

She slumped in the chair. "So tired!"

But after a while, she was lost in thought again. She couldn't let anything happen to Darren.

The car window was knocked on. She turned her head and saw it was Johnny, a cigarette in his mouth and a trash bag in his hand.

Lola rolled down the window. "What a coincidence!"

Johnny stubbed out the cigarette. "I've been waiting for you for a long time! You have a lot of social engagements!"

"Not really!" Lola got out of the car, locked it, and went upstairs with him.

She was very tired and hungry now, just wanting a good meal, not wanting to argue with Johnny.

She opened the door and looked at the empty dining table. "Where's the food?"

Johnny was scrolling through his phone with one hand, casually saying, "Oh, I thought you didn't like it, so I tossed it."

Lola was furious.

She hadn't said she didn't want to eat!

Johnny hugged her slender waist from behind, laughing softly. "It's in the kitchen. I'll heat it up for you. You didn't even have dinner!"

Lola originally wanted to argue with him, but she was really in a bad mood.

Finally, she said, "Darren has leukemia."

Johnny was a bit surprised.

He slowly let go of Lola, went to the kitchen to heat up the food, and Lola followed him in.

Johnny's voice was soft. "How did this happen so suddenly?"

Lola explained.

Johnny thought for a moment and said, "I know some hematology experts at Kyro. I'll call them to come over and take a look at Darren."

Lola was also quite surprised.

She hugged him from behind for the first time, her voice also very soft. "You don't seem like the kind of person who would be so generous!"

"I think Dad has a point. When you can't beat a rival, find a way to turn them into your son. I think Darren is the right age. Tomorrow, you can tell him he has parents to take care of him now!"

Lola was speechless. Johnny really was taught by Frederick, exactly the same!

She let go of him. But Johnny grabbed her hand, trapping her in front of him.

In the pot, the food was steaming.

He hugged her, his voice very gentle. "Lola, does telling me this mean you trust me?"

Lola's voice was very soft. "But in a week, you still have to move out!"

Johnny smiled faintly.

He heated up the food for her, accompanied her while she ate, and then washed the dishes and cleaned up.

When Lola's life was chaotic, she had to admit that Johnny's presence made her feel much more at ease.

After dinner, she even had some red wine.

Johnny made a call, talked to the other person for about half an hour, and when he hung up, he said, "They'll come over tomorrow!"

Lola thanked him.

Johnny raised an eyebrow. "Getting your praise is not easy."

Lola watched him.

He was full of energy.

She couldn't lie to herself; she still liked him. It was only now that she realized why she had always liked Johnny because he was strong enough for her to rely on.

Darren was young, cute, and kind. Lola could take care of him, but she couldn't fall for him.

What she always wanted was someone strong enough to stand by her side, and that person had always been Johnny.

Lola rubbed her face.

She thought, 'No, I cann't think about it anymore.'

Lola took a bath and lay on the bed reading a hematology magazine.

She was wearing a silk robe, her long hair draped over her shoulders, looking much softer than usual.

Johnny wasn't a clingy person.

After finishing his work, he returned to the bedroom and saw her like this.

He bent one leg, half-kneeling beside her, kissing her, his big hand wandering as he asked, "Is your period over?"

Lola was furious.

It had only been three days, how much energy did he have?

She pulled his hair. "Handle it yourself!"

Johnny chuckled.

He turned off the light, and Lola slapped him. "What are you doing? I want to read!"

In the dark, he panted lightly. "Aren't you curious? Don't you want to taste me?"

Lola gently touched his face. "What do you mean?"

Johnny kissed her lips. "Lola, you can taste me however you want."
