Chapter 300 I Miss You Two

The bathroom partition was paper-thin.

Frederick leaned into Charlotte's neck, his voice all raspy. "Charlotte, I don't know if this is what liking feels like, but seeing you with other dudes makes me feel all kinds of messed up!"

"Ethan, Keith, and now I'm even jealous of Robert!" He brushed his lips against her hair. "Charlotte, I don't know how to love. Can you teach me, please?"

Charlotte felt a pang of sadness.

She thought, 'You had got amnesia. If Brenda hadn't shown up, if you had said this to me earlier, how awesome would that have been! I can't dwell on it anymore.'

She lowered her eyes, looking all gentle and soft.

Frederick couldn't hold back; he had one thing on his mind, and that was to kiss her.

He pressed her against the flimsy partition, kissing her like there was no tomorrow.

Charlotte wasn't having it. She pushed him a few times but couldn't shake him off, and in a panic, she slapped him.

After the slap, both of them were stunned.

Charlotte leaned against the door, her slender throat tightening, and she said with a nasal tone, "Frederick, do I need to spell it out? We're done. We will never be a thing again."

Her eyes were red as she pushed the door open and left.

Frederick stood there, watching her walk away, suddenly realizing he might never get her back, even if Charlotte still had feelings for "Frederick" deep down.

Frederick didn't stick around and quickly chased after her.

They had a blowout, and when they got to the hospital room, neither of them said a word, even Lily noticed.

In the afternoon, Frederick went to pick up Lola.

When he told Charlotte, she was cold, and he felt pretty bummed out.

After they left, Lily softly said, "I can see his attitude is way different from before."

Of course, Charlotte knew.

Frederick clearly liked her a bit more and cared more, but she had lost faith in their marriage and didn't want to wait any longer.

She even thought that splitting up might make both of them way more chill.

Lily respected her choice and didn't say much more.

Frederick was rejected. He was in a foul mood, sitting in the car, lighting a cigarette.

Just as he was about to start the car, Brenda showed up by the car.

She spoke softly, "Mr. Hawkins, I'm pregnant."

Frederick's brow didn't even twitch. He exhaled a long puff of smoke, his tone icy. "I don't think I've even touched your hand!"

Brenda quickly said, "It's Robert's kid."

Frederick immediately thought of Charlotte's deal with Robert. 'Charlotte really is...'

He looked at Brenda's face, realizing that Charlotte really hated her.

Brenda's heart raced. She bit her lip, her voice small. "If it weren't for Mrs. Hawkins' scheming, I wouldn't have gotten pregnant with someone else's kid. Mr. Hawkins, if I get rid of the kid... I know you and she are divorced."

Frederick's patience ran out.

Seeing her face reminded him of Katherine.

He once hoped she would live well.

But when a man's first love in his heart changes, it's different. Charlotte divorced him, and these days he rarely thought of Katherine; instead, every time he lay down, his mind was full of Charlotte's face.

He had dreamed of Charlotte several times.

She nestled in his arms, soft and warm, calling him Frederick.

Frederick stubbed out the cigarette and said lightly, "Don't show up in front of me again."

The car window slowly rolled up.

Brenda tried to stop it, but one of her hands got caught and was bruised.

Frederick rolled down the window, let her go, and then lightly stepped on the gas and took off.

Brenda stood there, finally getting it—this guy only ever had a shred of pity for her, nothing more!

Frederick picked up Lola.

Lola was over the moon, holding her dad's hand and saying goodbye to Rose.

Frederick put her in the car.

Lola hugged his neck and gave him a soft kiss, making Frederick's heart melt. He gently asked, "Did you miss me these days?"

"I did."

Frederick kissed her. "If you miss me, just call me, and I'll be there in 30 minutes."

Lola sat in the car seat, her head of golden curls bouncing. "Do you miss me and Mommy?"

Frederick ruffled her hair. "I miss you two."

He took Lola back to the hospital, grabbing her some fried chicken on the way. Lola was chattering the whole time, and Frederick's mood lifted a lot.

But when he opened the VIP room door, his face darkened.

Keith was there.

At that moment, he was sitting on the small sofa, discussing work with Charlotte, their heads close.

Not sure what they were talking about, but Charlotte had a slight smile.

She looked especially beautiful when she smiled.

Frederick cleared his throat.

Keith looked up and saw his sour face, awkwardly saying, "Ms. Russell, let's wrap it up for today."

Charlotte glanced at Frederick and saw Keith out.

When she came back and closed the door, Frederick couldn't help but say, "Is it necessary to be that close when discussing work?"

Lola was munching on fried chicken. "Daddy's not happy!"

Charlotte didn't want to get into it in front of the kid. She stayed with Lola and even did a set of math problems with her.

Frederick had no reason to be mad and didn't dare to push it.

Late at night, Charlotte was on the hospital bed, holding Kingsley. Looking at his full features, she got a bit lost in thought.

Kingsley looked a lot like Frederick.

Her slender fingers gently moved, with some lingering affection.

Kingsley was being good, but in the middle of the night, he started fussing and refused to drink milk.

Charlotte pressed her face against his, and Kingsley burrowed into her arms, greedily sniffing through the thin fabric.

Charlotte felt quite heartbroken.

Kingsley was weaned at just over two months.

She looked at the small room, where Frederick and Lola were sleeping.

After hesitating for a moment, she unbuttoned her nightgown.

Kingsley found the nipple and started sucking contentedly, even though he couldn't get much. The sound of a kitten licking paste in the dark was both tantalizing and ambiguous.

Frederick wasn't asleep. He heard it, lay there for a long time, and couldn't help but get up quietly.

Charlotte turned her back to him.

Frederick couldn't see; he touched Kingsley's soft hair and asked in a low voice, "Does it hurt?"

Charlotte felt unbearable.

After a while, she softly said, "Go back to sleep."

Kingsley would be discharged tomorrow, and she didn't need to be harassed by him all the time.

Frederick looked at her slender back.

He really wanted to hug her, but thinking of her rejection, he withdrew his hand.

He lay back on the small bed.

Lola skillfully crawled over, lying entirely in his arms.

Her little butt was chubby and soft.

Frederick couldn't describe his feelings. He really wanted to be with them every day. Maybe they could have more kids; Charlotte seemed to like kids a lot.

He couldn't help but wonder, 'if I regain my memory, would Charlotte change her mind?'
