Chapter 157 I Really Want to See You Cry Because of Me

In under two hours, the four-person expert team landed in the city.

Frederick personally picked them up from the airport.

They got to the hospital and immediately started consulting on William's case without even grabbing a drink.

Frederick stayed with them the whole time.

An hour later, they had a surgical plan.

Maria was super grateful. She held Cherie's hand and said, "Thank you so much."

Cherie smiled mysteriously.

She whispered, "You should thank Mr. Hawkins. Regular folks can't get these experts. Mr. Hawkins rarely uses his special connections."

Maria nodded.

Cherie wanted to say more but decided not to meddle in Mr. Hawkins' personal life.

William's surgery took a while, and Cherie left first.

Frederick stayed.

He sat on a bench in the hospital corridor, handling business on his phone with an air of authority.

Charlotte walked over and sat next to him.

Frederick paused, glanced at her, but said nothing.

Charlotte handed him a bottle of milk, saying, "This is good for you."

Frederick, probably still mad, ignored her and didn't take the milk, leaving her hanging.

Charlotte awkwardly said, "Frederick, thank you."

Frederick put his phone away and stared at her. "How do you plan to thank me?"

Charlotte knew what he wanted.

He wanted her to come back, to start over and play his game of love.

He would decide when it ended.

Owing him such a big favor, Charlotte felt pressured. She knew his intentions and knew it wouldn't be right not to give something in return.

After all, she was single, and they had been intimate before.

In the quiet hospital corridor, Charlotte spoke softly. "Frederick, I really thank you for what you've done for me! But I can't repay you with my feelings."

Frederick's tone was cold. "Then how do you plan to repay me? With your body?"

Charlotte suddenly looked up at him.

Her eyes were more watery than usual.

Frederick looked at her coldly, not planning to indulge her.

He hadn't done all this expecting anything in return. Even if he didn't want to get back with Charlotte, he would still help in this situation, but Charlotte was deliberately misunderstanding him.

Frederick stood up lightly.

He said, "That's not impossible. It's quite exciting for me."

Charlotte's face turned pale.

Frederick bent down and whispered in her ear, "If you don't want to talk about feelings, then we'll just do physical things. But don't cry when the time comes!"

He wickedly touched her cheek, "I really want to see you cry because of me!"

After saying that, Frederick planned to go out for a cigarette.

A slender arm gently tugged at him.

"Frederick." Charlotte looked up at him, her eyes full of helplessness.

Frederick looked down at her, his gaze deep.

Charlotte was really embarrassed at this moment, her voice choked. "Frederick, I really appreciate you."

Frederick's heart softened.

He reached out and touched her blonde hair, his voice hoarse. "I'm just going out for a cigarette. Charlotte, I stayed up all night last night, and this morning I donated 500 milliliters of blood. Even the strongest body can't take this. Even if you stripped naked in front of me now, I might not be able to do anything."

He was really crude, and Charlotte blushed.

Frederick went out and smoked a few cigarettes.

William's surgery was very successful.

When he was wheeled out of the operating room, Maria cried with joy, and Charlotte held her father's hand tightly.

After a night, William's vital signs stabilized.

Barring any surprises, he could be discharged in a month.

Maria was quite happy. "Just in time to go home for Christmas! We really should thank Frederick. William, you don't know how amazing he is."

William smiled.

As they were talking, there was a knock on the door of the hospital room.

Maria thought it was Frederick and softly asked Charlotte to open the door; her attitude was so friendly.

When the door opened, it was Ethan standing there.

Charlotte's face darkened. She blocked him and said coldly, "What are you doing here?"

Ethan's gaze was intense. "I came to see Mr. Russell."

Charlotte, trying not to upset William, restrained herself. "Ethan, haven't you caused enough trouble for our family? Let's not contact each other anymore. Please, don't visit my dad again."

Ethan couldn't stay away.

He desperately wanted to see Charlotte.

"Have you reconciled with Frederick? I know Mr. Russell's hospital arrangements were all made by him," he asked.

Charlotte didn't want to discuss it.

Just then, William's weak voice came through. "Charlotte, let him in!"

Charlotte hesitated.

William insisted, "Let him in, I have something to say to him."

Charlotte had no choice but to step aside and let Ethan in.

Ethan walked into the room silently.

He put down the supplements he brought and then, unexpectedly, knelt gently in front of William's bed.

William's eyes filled with tears.

Maria almost burst into tears. What did he mean?

Charlotte wanted to speak, but William softly said, "Charlotte, you guys go into another room. I have something to say to Ethan."

Ethan gently closed his eyes.

"Mr. Russell, I know you don't hate me that much," he said.

Maria scolded, "Oh I can show you what is hatre."

William glanced at her, and Maria lowered her head, pulling Charlotte into the small room.

Once the room quieted down, William lay there quietly, not looking at the kneeling young man, and said softly, "I've been friends with your father for decades, and Charlotte liked you so much back then. I never thought you would treat me like this! Ethan, you were doing well, doing the right thing. A man should be ruthless, should cut off emotions and desires, should seize every opportunity to climb up."

Ethan said nothing.

William continued, "Ethan, your biggest mistake was falling in love with Charlotte! Look, you have power, status, money, and lover now, but you're not happy, are you? Do you regret your choices every time you wake up in the middle of the night?"

Ethan's voice choked. "Yes! Mr. Russell, I do! I ask for your forgiveness, to give me another chance."

William sighed softly, "It's too late, Ethan, it's too late. Charlotte no longer has feelings for you! For the sake of the past, don't cause her trouble anymore!"

Ethan felt a chill all over.

When he left, he was in a daze.

Clearly, Charlotte had liked him first; they had been together for four years.

He had so many chances to hold on to her. But he let them slip away, one by one!

As the hospital room door opened, Ethan ran into Frederick.

Frederick was dressed sharply, making Ethan look disheveled in comparison.

The two men brushed past each other.

Ethan stopped, his voice cold. "Frederick, you might not be able to hold on to her either."

Frederick never took him seriously.

He straightened his white shirt and said dismissively, "Mr. Cooper, do you think I'm as stupid as you?"

Ethan left in a hurry.

Frederick watched him disappear, his previously confident demeanor collapsing.

Nicholas had just broken up with Charlotte, and now Ethan was trying to get back with her.

Frederick was angry. After exchanging pleasantries in the hospital room, he largely ignored Charlotte.

The elders noticed but pretended not to.

During the afternoon nap, William was sound asleep, and Maria was dozing off by the bed.

Charlotte went to the bathroom, but just as she was about to come out, a tall figure slipped in and locked the door with a click.

Before Charlotte could react, her body was pressed against the door.

Frederick gently pinched her chin, leaned in, and kissed her deeply.

Charlotte whispered, "Frederick!"

Her slender body was trapped by him, and she reached out to pound his shoulder forcefully.

He was crazy!

This was a hospital room; William and Maria could wake up at any moment.
