Chapter 492 Andrew's Compromise

Gavin opened the car door and gave Andrew a quiet look.

Andrew was still tall and lean, just like when he was younger.

He had a cigarette between his fingers, but he wasn't smoking it.

Half the ash had fallen off, showing he'd been standing there for a while.

Natalie got out of the car, glanced at the two of them, and suddenly got it. Dad knew about Gavin and Molly.

Natalie instinctively called out, "Dad."

Andrew looked at her, his voice soft, "It's cold, go inside."

Natalie shook her head. She stepped forward and gently took Andrew's arm, "Dad, you should go inside too."

Andrew usually spoiled Natalie the most. Even now, his study still had that little red house, and Natalie, even though she was grown, would sometimes crawl into it. But now, he patted her hand, "Go inside."

Natalie didn't dare to argue. She let go of his hand and looked at Gavin. Under the moonlight, Gavin was as handsome as Andrew, with the same determined look in his eyes.

Natalie was taken aback.

After she left, Andrew flicked the ash off his cigarette and asked coolly, "Did you see her? What did she say?"

Gavin slowly walked closer. He gave a faint smile, "Dad, don't you already know?"

Andrew sneered, "Are you set on being with her? Did you even ask her if she wants to be with you? Don't let it be just your wishful thinking."

Gavin pressed his lips together and stayed quiet. He could tell Andrew was annoyed, but his attitude wasn't as firm as before. Gavin relaxed a bit.

After a moment of silence, Andrew continued, "You're not a kid anymore! You need to handle your own stuff."

Saying this, Andrew felt a bit sad. His compromise wasn't just for Gavin, but also for Molly!

The last time he saw Molly, he knew she was wronged, but when she said she had someone else, he tricked himself into believing it.

Gavin had been with her for over a year, how could there be no feelings?

Andrew didn't look at Gavin, nor did he want to hear what he had to say. He felt a mix of disappointment and relief. Behind him, Gavin softly called out, "Dad!"

Andrew didn't respond. He just waved his hand and kept walking.

At that moment, he remembered sneaking around with Chloe when they were young. Chloe was about the same age then as Molly is now.

Andrew's figure slowly disappeared.

Gavin couldn't help but say, "Dad, thank you."

Andrew went back to the villa, and Natalie was sitting on the sofa, sniffling, "Dad."

Andrew walked over and sat next to her. Natalie held onto his arm, rested her head on his shoulder, and tried to plead for Gavin.

Natalie hugged his arm and rested her head on his shoulder.

Natalie was very much like Charlotte, and also like Victoria. Every time Andrew looked at Natalie, he felt a special emotion.

Andrew patted her hair and whispered, "Don't tell Chloe just yet."

Natalie's eyes widened in disbelief. She couldn't believe he had agreed. Andrew gently stroked her hair and said softly, "There's nothing wrong with liking someone! I don't want Gavin to be sad."

As for Chloe, he figured they'd find a way to handle it.

They lived in Copenhegan.

Gavin and the others mostly stayed in Syeattel, and they didn't see each other much throughout the year. Out of sight, out of mind. After they were gone, how much would those past events matter?

Andrew spoiled his kids. Natalie got all his fatherly love, but Gavin had missed out on so much when he was young. This was his way of making it up to Gavin.

Andrew slowly went upstairs.

Natalie sniffled as she watched him, knowing her dad was really sad tonight.

Gavin walked in.

Natalie went over and gently hugged Gavin. He patted her head and said, "No crying, I'm not in the mood to comfort you."

Natalie pouted, resting her head on his chest.

Andrew went upstairs, and Chloe was in the middle of her skincare routine after a bath.

Seeing him come in, she looked at him for a while before saying, "Why do you smell like smoke? Where did you sneak off to smoke? Did Gavin and Natalie come back? Weren't they supposed to be out having fun?"

Andrew sat on the edge of the bed, not saying a word.

Chloe complained, "What's wrong with you today? Male menopause? Or are you jealous of Nathan?"

Andrew hated hearing that. But this time, he just gave a bitter smile, "Would I be jealous of him?"

Andrew did feel uncomfortable, but when he thought about Nathan's hard-earned daughter being with his son, it somehow made him feel better.

Chloe suddenly leaned in, very gently, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing!" Andrew sighed, "Just feeling like the kids have all grown up."

He lowered his head and kissed her nose, "But Chloe hasn't aged a bit." Seeing his expression finally relax, Chloe felt relieved.

A few days later, it was Nathan's birthday.

He had worked hard all his life and accumulated considerable wealth, so his birthday was celebrated grandly.

His son and daughter-in-law had flown in from abroad, busy with the preparations, and Molly was helping out too. She got along well with her sister-in-law and felt at home.

In front of the villa, there was a constant stream of cars.

Nathan and Amanda were welcoming guests with their children, despite the cold weather.

Nathan rubbed his hands and said to the younger ones, "You all go inside; don't stay out here in the cold with us."

Amanda was not pleased, "So I have to stay out here in the cold with you, and you don't feel sorry for me?"

Nathan grinned, "We're a couple who have been through thick and thin! How can these kids compare?"

Amanda laughed.

Molly stood nearby, smiling softly. She really liked this family.

Her sister-in-law tugged at her, "Molly, let's go inside and get something to eat."

Molly nodded.

Just as they were about to go, two black Audis drove in, followed by a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Nathan grinned, "My old friend is here." He then went forward to open the car door for Andrew.

Amanda laughed in exasperation and tried to pull him back, "It's your birthday today. Aren't you afraid people will tease you for taking the chauffeur's job?"

Nathan didn't mind. He went ahead and opened the car door. As soon as Andrew got out, he gave Nathan a big hug, followed by Natalie, who was dressed beautifully and warmly hugged Nathan.

Natalie pulled him to see the gifts, which were all in Gavin's trunk.

When the trunk opened, Nathan was stunned. These gifts were clearly meant for in-laws. He looked suspiciously at Natalie, then at his own son. His son was married! Then he looked at the dashing Gavin getting out of the car, and then at Molly.

Nathan was even more shocked! No wonder Gavin refused to marry Sarah, and Andrew wanted to deal with the Hughes Family. But it was clear that Chloe didn't know about this either.

Nathan felt complicated. Gavin stood in front of him with the gifts, respectfully saying, "Happy birthday, Nathan."

Nathan forced a smile. In public, he couldn't embarrass Andrew, so he quickly had the servants take the gifts away to avoid being seen by others, then lowered his voice, "Are you out of your mind?"

Gavin's gaze fell on Molly. After a long while, he whispered, "I'm serious."

Nathan suppressed his anger with great effort, and just then Amanda came over.

Nathan stared at Amanda angrily. Amanda must have known all along, keeping it from him for so long!

Nathan pinched his nose, temporarily suppressing his anger, and led the Devereux Family inside. As they passed Molly, her body stiffened, and she didn't dare look at Gavin.

Gavin didn't speak to her, but as their shoulders brushed, his long fingers lightly hooked hers.

Molly bit her lip.

Chloe walked in the front and had been kept in the dark all along. She whispered to Andrew, "Molly seems to look better than before. Andrew, you know a lot of people; maybe you could introduce her to someone suitable."

Andrew replied meaningfully, "I think no one is better than Gavin."

Chloe didn't catch on and felt quite proud. Her children were, of course, exceptional.

Andrew looked at Chloe's innocent face, feeling complicated but also affectionate. He loved her simple nature, probably because he had spoiled her, and she hadn't changed in decades.

Amanda quickly noticed the situation between Gavin and Molly. She had heard her husband mention the issues between the two families.

She came from a good background and just chatted with Chloe, even taking good care of Natalie.

Inside the villa, it was lively, with upbeat music playing and a local famous singer belting out love songs.

Molly felt a bit unsettled. When Gavin approached, she didn't want to interact with him in front of others and went upstairs to hide.

In the evening, a servant knocked on the door, "Molly, Amanda asked me to bring you some food."

Molly softly said, "Come in!"

The door opened, but it wasn't the servant; it was Gavin.

He held a tray, gently kicked the bedroom door closed, and quietly watched her.

Molly slowly stood up, her heart pounding rapidly.

Gavin's voice was slightly deep but gentle, a tone she had never heard before. He said, "Are you planning to avoid me forever?"

"I'm not."

"Good! Eat something first."

Gavin walked over, set the food down, and when he straightened up, he looked into her eyes.

Molly's lips trembled slightly.

She didn't understand his intentions. He had left her, but now he was always showing up in front of her, even getting involved in her family. She didn't understand and was even more afraid.

Gavin stepped forward, gently pressed the back of her head, and leaned in to kiss her lips.

Molly's lips trembled slightly, and she took a step back. But he held her firmly, kissing her even more passionately.

It wasn't until she could hardly breathe that she pushed him away. Both were breathing heavily from the kiss, especially Gavin, whose face was flushed.

"Andrew has agreed," he said, looking at her.

Molly's face turned pale.

Her whole body was constantly trembling. She had liked Gavin; everything about him had deeply attracted her, but since knowing his identity, she never dared to hope to be with him.

She resisted from the bottom of her heart.

Molly lowered her eyes.

After a long time, she gently looked up at Gavin, "Mr. Devereux, I don't understand what you mean!"

"I want to be with you! Molly, I want to marry you."

Molly smiled faintly. She softly said, "But I don't want to! Gavin, I liked you, but I never dared to think I would be with Andrew's son! I'm sorry, I don't have the courage!"

In fact, if she had known his identity back then, she would have left him on her own!

In real life, there were no fairy tales. Even if there were, they didn't belong to Molly. When she was very young, the fairy tale in her heart had been shattered.

Gavin looked at her stubborn expression, quite taken aback, and stood there for a moment. Molly had a very soft personality and couldn't say harsh words. She just said, "You should leave; it's not good if someone sees."

Gavin gently held her shoulder. Suppressing his emotions for a long time, he softly said, "I don't believe you can forget."

He suddenly kissed her lips, one large hand gently caressing her body, sliding down her thin shoulder to her slender waist, lightly touching. He was eager to draw them both into the memories of the past, wanting her to know that their bodies still remembered each other.
