Chapter 807 All Packed! Moving Tonight!
Clayton's fingers twitched slightly. "Natalie, we're not there yet. I just got back."
Natalie cut him off.
She had been calm and composed earlier, but now she couldn't hold back any longer.
"Do you even realize you just got back?" she demanded. "Clayton, do you have any idea what these past two years have been like for me? Do you know how much I missed you?"
"What woman can accept finding out her husband has been living with a young girl, going in and out together, just the two of them? And she even had the nerve to tell me to let you two be together!"
"Clayton, if you didn't want to be with me anymore, you could have shown up sooner... Why make me..."
'Why make me wait in vain.'
'Why make me sit on the couch through endless nights, waiting for you to suddenly appear.'
'Why make me hold onto hope, thinking you still loved me.'
Natalie choked up but quickly regained her composure.
In front of Clayton, she no longer had the right to be weak. She continued speaking calmly, "Once the divorce is finalized, I'll return the company to you."
Clayton stared at her for a long moment before speaking. "You can keep the company."
Natalie smiled faintly. "It's better to settle things clearly. Clayton, our marriage is simple. There's nothing to divide. You don't even need to pay child support. It's good; we can have a clean break."
Clayton walked up to her. "Natalie, that's not what I meant."
Natalie said nothing more.
Clayton, being a man, could never understand her situation at this moment.
No matter how good their relationship had been, when he suggested she consider Grant, she had to exit gracefully.
No matter how humiliating, she had to do it.
While waiting for the lawyer, Natalie walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and quietly looked outside.
Just as she had for the past two years, she stood there, silently watching the world beyond the glass.
Watching the spring flowers bloom, the summer flowers wilt, the autumn leaves turn red, and the winter snow fall... counting the days, waiting for him to return.
Clayton stood behind her, understanding that Natalie was forcing him to choose.
If he told her now that they didn't need to divorce, that they didn't need to consider anything, Natalie would fall into his arms, and they would live together.
But could he really make her happy now?
The old Clayton was confident, but now he wasn't so sure.
The lawyer arrived, sensing the serious atmosphere.
He brought two documents: a divorce agreement and a transfer of Clayton's company shares.
Natalie stood by the window and spoke softly, "Next Monday, come to the company, and we'll officially hand things over."
Clayton flipped through the divorce agreement.
Natalie hadn't asked for anything: the company, the apartment, all his assets... she was giving it all back.
Just like she said, they were making a clean break.
Holding the platinum pen, Clayton suddenly asked, "Are you gonna be with Grant?"
Natalie's heart clenched.
Sunlight fell on her face, casting a shadow on her eyelashes, making her look younger than usual.
She stared at the ground for a long time before softly saying, "Maybe."
Clayton watched her for a long moment.
He signed the divorce agreement but added a few lines. "You can keep the apartment. And my other assets..."
"No need."
Natalie still refused. "That apartment was yours before we got married. I only stayed there because it was close to the company. Now that I'm not going to the company, I don't need to live there."
She lied.
But what else could she say? That she lived there to remember her husband... waiting for him to come back?
He came back, only to leave her, living with a young girl named Gina.
Allowing someone else to stay by his side was a betrayal of their marriage...
Clayton grew up abroad, but his views weren't that open.
He had once said he wouldn't keep anyone around who made Natalie uncomfortable.
Maybe he didn't love her anymore.
So he didn't care.
But Natalie was still grateful to him, grateful for the love he once gave... maybe she had grown up and learned to let go.
After finishing, Natalie walked over.
She crossed out the added lines and signed her name on the divorce agreement, pressing the pen hard enough to pierce the paper.
She looked at it for a long time and then said, "That's it. I'll have the lawyer handle it. I'll be at the company at ten on Monday morning for the final handover."
Clayton also looked at her.
For a long time, Natalie's eyes stung, and she turned away, ready to leave.
At the door, Selene arrived with Haven.
Haven, almost 20 months old, was adorable and beautiful, a miniature version of Natalie, except with slightly curly hair.
Haven had seen pictures of Clayton. As soon as she saw him, she wobbled over and hugged his leg, calling him "Daddy."
She looked up at him with her big, adorable eyes, curiously gazing at Clayton.
Clayton's heart ached.
When he and Natalie were together, how many times had he listened to the fetal heartbeat, felt the baby move... they had eagerly awaited Haven's birth.
Now she was right in front of him.
Clayton couldn't help but bend down, wanting to pick up Haven.
But Natalie gently pulled Haven away.
She pressed Haven's head against her chest, speaking to Clayton in a distant, indifferent tone, "Clayton, she mistook you for someone else."
Haven, still reaching out towards Clayton, looked at him with watery eyes.
Clayton's heart ached.
As Natalie left with Haven, the little girl, with tears in her eyes, called out again, "Daddy."
Natalie's heart broke.
She kissed her child and quickly left.
Her departing figure carried a hint of panic and helplessness.
Clayton stood in the hospital room for a long time, the scent of Natalie's familiar orchid perfume lingering.
He breathed in the scent, thinking of Natalie, thinking of Haven.
No one knew that when he fell into the sea, the low temperature caused him to lose the ability to have children.
He knew Natalie always wanted to have a child with him, but how could they have one together?
But Grant was different.
They were childhood sweethearts. Grant now had no concerns, and they could be together openly.
As for him, Clayton... maybe he should have let go a long time ago.
A slender figure walked in; it was Gina.
She looked at him and spoke softly, "She's gone! Did you two get divorced?"
Clayton said nothing.
Gina moved closer, tilting her head to kiss his chin. "Clayton, let me love you, okay? I'll be a good wife!"
Clayton pushed her away, his voice cold. "I'll have someone send you back home tomorrow."
Gina protested, "You promised my dad you'd take care of me!"
Clayton walked out of the hospital room, saying, "We can't be together."
Natalie and Clayton's situation, Gavin hadn't been involved in at all.
He couldn't get involved.
Because Molly was in the middle, and because Clayton had taken care of Natalie during the toughest times, their relationship was more than just a marriage; it was like family.
Sitting in the car, Gavin asked, "Moving back home?"
Natalie shook her head. "Gavin, I still want to live on my own. There's a small villa on Peace Street that's nice and quiet. I want to take Haven and live there."
Gavin's long fingers gently stroked the steering wheel. After a moment, he asked, "What about Grant? Are you really not considering him?"
Natalie shook her head lightly.
After a while, she softly said, "Feelings aren't that indecisive. When I chose to be with Clayton, I wanted to love him wholeheartedly."
She thought he felt the same. So after having Haven, she was determined to have the child and marry him.
If you asked her if she regretted it, Natalie's answer would be no.
She and Clayton had shared some beautiful memories.
Natalie thought for a moment and said, "Besides moving and handing over the company to him, I also need to change Haven's last name to Devereux."
After saying that, Natalie turned her face towards the car window.
She thought, 'Once Haven's name is changed, Clayton and I will truly be done with each other.'
This was something she never imagined when they were happy.
She still remembered the day they registered their marriage. She wore a white dress and a white veil... they looked at each other with such trust and loyalty.
She thought they would be together for life.
No divorce, only death. But now...
Gavin, worried she might not be able to handle it, wanted her to go home first, and he would handle the move.
But Natalie said, "Gavin, I'm fine!"
"At this age, making the family worry about this is not good! Just don't tell Mom and Dad about the divorce yet, just let them know Clayton is alive and well."
Gavin sighed and started the car.
He drove Natalie to Clayton's apartment. Before she got out, he asked again, "Are you really okay?"
Natalie forced a smile. "I'm really okay! I'll come home once I'm settled."
In the past two years, Natalie had grown a lot, so Gavin didn't worry as much... as her brother, he understood Natalie's choice.
Because Clayton didn't give her a choice.
He couldn't blame Clayton either, for the same reasons as Natalie.
Natalie took Selene and Haven back.
Haven played for a while and then fell asleep. Natalie started packing, and Selene cautiously asked, "Mrs. Percy, are we really moving?"
Natalie, while packing Haven's toys, said, "Yes! Once we're packed, we'll move tonight."
She also told Selene not to call her "Mrs. Percy" anymore.
She said, "From now on, call me Ms. Devereux."
Selene felt it was a pity. She had seen how Natalie waited for Clayton these past two years... and now, just when they were reunited, they were divorcing so quickly.
Both of them had experienced this firsthand and knew it was because Clayton had another woman outside.
But she couldn't understand it; with Natalie being so beautiful and capable, how could Clayton still cheat?
Natalie spent the whole day packing.
In the evening, the moving company arrived, and they started moving things out one by one.
Finally, a servant asked if she wanted to keep a small wooden horse, which seemed handmade.
Natalie took it, her fingers gently stroking the small wooden horse.
She remembered Clayton had made it, for the child in her belly. He said he would make many handmade toys for the child...
After a long time, Natalie softly said, "Leave it. Put it down."
