Chapter 562 Being Married to Johnny
Lola couldn't help but frown.
Under the fancy crystal chandelier of the restaurant, Johnny's handsome face was stone-cold. He repeated, "Sit down! Finish the meal with me!"
Lola slowly sat down.
She tried to force a smile but found it pretty tough.
In the end, she gave up. "Where's Angelina?"
Johnny picked up the half glass of wine she had been drinking. He looked sharp today, every move he made was pleasing to the eyes.
He stared at the glass, maybe trying to see her through it.
He spoke casually, "Angelina waited for you for a long time. She just couldn't hold on and fell asleep. Oh, she was quite a handful with her medicine tonight, kept fussing for you! Is this how you've been taking care of her all these years? When you have time, you take care of her. When you don't, you leave her with the nanny?"
He knew it wasn't true. Lola cared deeply for her; otherwise, she wouldn't have come to find him. But thinking about her visiting Darren made him want to hurt her.
He wanted to show his wounds to her, make her feel pain, to see if she still cared for him.
Lola was quiet for a moment. "I'll go check on her."
Johnny stopped her, but this time his tone was softer. "Finish your meal first."
Lola's hand paused slightly on the edge of the table, but she eventually sat down to eat.
Johnny ate a bit too.
Both were very silent. Lola suddenly thought of the phrase "The Last Supper," and a faint, peculiar smile appeared on her face, which he noticed. He looked up and stared at her.
His gaze was indescribable.
It had both love and hate, along with the loneliness of the past years.
Lola suddenly felt like talking to him. While sipping her soup, she asked softly, "Have you been well these past two years?"
She knew he had been looking for her the first year. After she gave birth to Angelina, he went back to Syeattel.
After that, she lost track of him. No one mentioned him in front of her. Lola thought he might have been in a relationship during the years she was away.
Johnny's gaze deepened. He leaned back slightly in his chair, silently watching her. After a moment, he whispered, "Do you really want to know?"
He guessed what she was thinking but didn't explain.
The conversation started and then fell silent again. Finally, when she finished her meal and went upstairs, Johnny didn't stop her.
He had given all the nannies a holiday, leaving only the three of them in the villa.
Lola went to the master bedroom to check on Angelina.
A small bedside lamp was left on in the bedroom, casting a soft light. Angelina was sleeping soundly on her side. Under the thin blanket, her outline was visible. Her curled-up body looked small and delicate, and her little face was fair and adorable.
Lola leaned over and kissed her.
Angelina woke up and looked at Lola drowsily. Then she called out softly, "Mommy," and reached out with her little hands for a hug.
Lola held her, gently stroking her little face.
Angelina's voice was small, "I like Daddy."
Lola felt a pang in her heart. Just as she was about to say something, Angelina fell asleep again.
Lola watched her quietly. She could never get tired of looking at her own child.
Johnny came in at that moment. He saw the scene in the bedroom from the doorway. Although they had reunited for some time, this was the first time he had seen Lola so gentle—no confrontation, no sarcasm, just a gentle gaze as she looked at the child they shared.
Johnny gently closed the door. He approached her from behind, looking at Angelina.
His voice was soft. "Is she asleep?"
Lola stiffened slightly. When she came to her senses, she softly replied, "She just woke up for a bit and fell asleep again."
Johnny nodded, then his hand grasped her slender waist. His touch felt warm, causing her body to tense up even more.
Johnny's gaze fell on Angelina's little face, and he spoke to Lola, "Tonight is our wedding night."
It was late, and Lola didn't want to argue with him, afraid of waking Angelina.
She lowered her voice. "Didn't you just have surgery?"
Johnny didn't respond from behind her, but his long fingers held onto her firmly. Lola couldn't take it anymore, her voice breaking. "Let's go outside!"
Johnny chuckled lightly.
In the end, they went to the living room, closing a door that completely separated them from the master bedroom.
In the living room, Lola was gently pressed against the wall and kissed by Johnny.
He kept kissing her until she couldn't take it anymore. Then he slowed down, turned to the side, and turned on the stereo, playing a song Lola liked in high school.
The light was dim, and she sat on his lap, feeling very intimate.
Even though they were married, they had been apart for years, and she felt uneasy.
Johnny's attitude was hot and cold, but now he seemed quite intent on flirting with her. He leaned in and whispered in her ear, "I really want to make love to you."
No matter how thick-skinned Lola usually was, she couldn't handle this. She blushed and gently turned away. "You just had surgery; don't mess around!"
Johnny chuckled. He gently held her waist, leading her in a dance.
Slowly, her whole body was in his arms.
Lola didn't resist; perhaps on such a night, she didn't have the strength.
Her chin rested on his shoulder.
Occasionally, Johnny would kiss her, lingering on her lips for a few seconds before letting go. After about half an hour of this, he stopped. "You look beautiful in this dress."
After saying this, he couldn't hold back anymore. He had surgery and couldn't have sex, but he liked seeing her get aroused. But she couldn't make a sound, with just a door separating them from Angelina.
In the early hours, she couldn't help but bite his shoulder, her voice hoarse with a hint of tears. "Enough!"
Johnny lifted his head. His hair was damp with sweat, his gaze intense.
He stared at her and said softly, "Do you still dare to run away?"
Lola called him a pervert. Instead of getting angry, he seemed quite pleased.
When Lola woke up, she was alone in bed.
Johnny wasn't there, and neither was Angelina.
But downstairs, she could hear a child's voice mixed with Johnny's deep tones. Lola felt a bit dazed and listened quietly for a while.
There was a sound from the stairs. It was Angelina coming up. She pushed open the door and ran over, giving Lola a kiss on the cheek. "Daddy asked me to wake you up."
Lola kissed her back.
Angelina excitedly told her what Daddy had made for breakfast, looking particularly happy.
Lola felt a warmth in her heart. After a quick wash, she took Angelina downstairs.
On the second day of their marriage, Johnny had made breakfast, and it was quite a spread, especially a bowl of porridge for Angelina.
Lola looked around for a while and only saw one bowl, so she asked, "Where's mine?"
Johnny was reading the newspaper.
Hearing this, he looked up at her, his gaze slowly falling on her face as he said, "Last night I asked you what you wanted to eat, but you didn't tell me!"
Lola was quite annoyed. But in front of Angelina, she had to hold it in.
Johnny placed an egg in front of her. His tone was surprisingly gentle, like coaxing Angelina. "Eat this! I'll make you something else tomorrow."
Lola awkwardly refused. "I'll eat something else! This is Angelina's egg."
Angelina, satisfied with her porridge, said in a crisp voice, "I don't mind giving the egg to Mommy!"
She thought for a moment and added, "I also don't mind sharing Daddy with Mommy."
Who taught Angelina these things?
Johnny gently patted Angelina's head and encouragingly asked, "How does Angelina want to share Daddy with Mommy?"
Angelina naturally said, "At night, Daddy holds me, but when I wake up, Mommy is in Daddy's arms."
Lola almost choked. She looked at Johnny, who calmly said, "You came over to my side yourself!"
Lola didn't say anything. She knew that this seemingly warm family atmosphere was only because Johnny was in a good mood. Whenever he was in a bad mood or thought of Darren, he would become cold, sarcastic, and hard to approach. Then she quietly finished her breakfast.
She was preparing to go to the law firm and discussed with Johnny, "I don't have any court sessions today, so I can take Angelina with me!"
Johnny put Angelina down. He wiped his lips. "If you don't have any court sessions, you can work from home or come to my company! Lola, you're not really that busy; you're just avoiding me, aren't you?"
"No!" Lola said calmly. "Over the years, a lot of work has piled up at the firm."
He looked at her for a long time before saying, "Is your hatred for me so intense that you would leave your career and family just to escape from me?"
He never revealed the hardship and desperation he faced trying to find her, assuming she already knew. Yet, she remained indifferent, resolute in her decision to leave him.
The atmosphere became tense again. Lola gently hugged Angelina and said, "Can we not talk about it?"
Johnny looked at Angelina, her big eyes filled with tears, seemingly scared.
He softened, touching her face. "Come to work with Daddy later!"
After a long time, Angelina climbed onto his lap. And Lola breathed a sigh of relief.
When Johnny left the villa, Lola stood at the door to see him off, or rather, to see Angelina off.
She waved to Angelina and then closed the car door. "Drive slowly!"
Johnny held the steering wheel, his gaze deep. He had always thought Lola avoided talking about their past. She was afraid of falling in love with him again.
In her mind, their current marriage was just a transaction. The intimacy in the bedroom was merely tolerance. If they had another child, it would completely sever any ties between them.
A few seconds later, he looked away and rolled up the window.
The black luxury car slowly drove away in front of her, and Lola prepared to go to the law firm.
Just then, the housekeeper arrived for work. Seeing Lola, she respectfully greeted her and asked if she would be back for lunch and what she wanted for dinner.
After a moment of daze, Lola said calmly, "Just make what Johnny usually likes, and add some dishes for Angelina. I'll go upstairs and get a list for you; there are some things she doesn't eat."
The housekeeper only thought Lola was beautiful and elegant. She had heard that Lola and Johnny had known each other since childhood and came from a particularly good background.
When Lola came downstairs, she had not only Angelina's dietary list but also a bank card.
She handed it to the housekeeper for grocery shopping.
The housekeeper smiled and declined. "Johnny has already arranged everything! Besides, he is rich and good-looking, and he takes good care of you. You're really lucky."
Lola gave a faint smile.
The things between her and Johnny were not suitable to explain to the housekeeper.
She put on her coat, grabbed her briefcase, and drove away from the villa.
The housekeepers at home started their tasks, cleaning, and preparing meals. While tidying up the sofa in the master bedroom, they found Johnny's shirt wrinkled and stained with some other fluids.
The housekeeper blushed.
Young newlyweds were indeed different!
Meanwhile, Johnny took Angelina to the Vertex Innovations Group.
Johnny's secretary, Donna Foster, had already prepared some toys that children love and made a cup of milk.
Angelina, in her sweet childlike voice, said thank you.
Donna patted her head and said, "Angelina looks a lot like you!"
The comment was quite intimate, but Johnny didn't mind. He leaned back in his chair, thinking about the sight of Lola seeing him off earlier. It felt really good!
He couldn't help but gently open the drawer. Inside was a pair of custom-made wedding rings, engraved with their initials.
He thought, 'I'll give them to her tonight!'
Maybe she would be willing to wear it, or perhaps they should go on a honeymoon. That might ease their relationship a bit!
