Chapter 718 Divorce! Their Ending is More Miserable Than Embarrassing 2

Johnny was floored.

Now... Lola wanted a divorce now? She couldn't wait even a second longer?

Did she really hate him that much?

Seeing his distress, Natalie couldn't hold back anymore. "When you were sneaking around with that woman, you were so full of yourself. Now you put on this sad act. Don't you think it's a bit much?"

Johnny glanced at her.

Normally, Natalie was pretty intimidated by him, given that Johnny was the oldest among their friends. But right now, Natalie wasn't scared at all.

Johnny's gaze returned to Lola's face. She firmly said, "Now!"

With that, Lola was the first to head towards the elevator, and Natalie quickly followed.

Johnny was left standing there. Shirley, worried he might refuse the divorce, cautiously said, "Honestly, your relationship is already over. Why not just..."

Johnny looked up, his eyes bloodshot.

Shirley didn't dare say another word.

Half an hour later, at City Hall, Lola and Johnny sat side by side in the office.

The mediator wanted to try persuading them one more time.

Lola calmly said, "We've already discussed the terms. Let's sign."

The mediator looked at Johnny. He recognized Johnny, not just as a prominent figure in Seattle but also as a notorious playboy. He had lost his beautiful, elegant, and wealthy wife over an unknown starlet.

Shaking his head, the mediator thought, "Men change when they get rich."

Johnny's eyes were fixed on Lola. He knew he had committed unforgivable mistakes, said too many hurtful things, and done too many hurtful deeds. Yet, in this moment, he still held a sliver of hope that she might reconsider their marriage for the sake of their past and their children.

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Johnny struggled to speak, "Lola, let me take you on a trip. Didn't you always want to travel the world? Let's go clear our minds."

After a moment of silence, Lola lowered her eyes. "Do you really think that's possible?"

She held the pen, ready to sign.

Her hand trembled slightly, and the writing on the divorce papers was blurry.

Johnny grabbed her hand. "Lola!"

Lola suddenly shook off his hand, black ink splattering onto his white shirt, leaving stains that couldn't be washed out... but no one cared about those black spots.

Lola quickly signed her name. After signing, she looked at it for a couple of seconds and then pushed it towards Johnny.

Johnny stared at her.

Lola looked away, her voice hoarse, "Your turn."

Johnny was extremely reluctant to sign, but he had agreed to the divorce. He had said she could do whatever she wanted... His Lola was sick, and he was to blame!Weirdly enough, as the divorce got closer, all Johnny could think about were Lola's good qualities.

All the fights and complaints just disappeared, leaving him with nothing but regret. He'd give up everything for her forgiveness and a hug.

Johnny's eyes filled with tears as he bent down to sign.

After signing, they quickly got their divorce papers. They weren't husband and wife anymore.

Lola left without saying a word.

"Lola!"

Johnny instinctively reached for her hand, but then he remembered they weren't married anymore, and she despised him. She shook off his hand, and he watched her walk away, whispering, "Whether you believe it or not, I never loved anyone else. My heart has always been with you."

Lola didn't respond.

Since last night, when he said those things, she felt that speaking another word to him was a waste.

Johnny was crushed, while Natalie sneered, "Divorce is the best thing that could happen to you! If it were up to me, I'd make sure you were ruined, rotting away with that woman."

As Lola walked out, she was swarmed by reporters, their microphones shoved in her face.

"Ms. Hawkins, have you and Mr. Flores divorced?"

"Is it because of Shirley that your marriage ended?"

"Is Mr. Flores planning to remarry soon?"

Lola's face was pale.

Before she could speak, Johnny came over and roughly interrupted the questions. The reporters jumped at the chance to ask about his affair with Shirley. "Mr. Flores, are you and Ms. Wells getting married soon?"

Johnny's voice was cold. "This is a misunderstanding. Ms. Wells and I only have a professional relationship... and there won't be any professional relationship in the future either."

The crowd went wild... Everyone could tell that Johnny was trying to show loyalty to his ex-wife Lola, but wasn't it too late to be loyal after the divorce?

In the corner, Shirley's face was pale.

She had called the reporters to force Johnny to declare his intention to marry her, but she hadn't expected Johnny to completely deny her existence and cut all ties with her.

She couldn't understand why. Lola didn't even want him anymore!

Hearing Johnny's words, Lola found it laughable. She ignored him and got into the car prepared by the Hawkins family, with Natalie following.

The car started, passing by Johnny.

One was inside the car, the other outside. The difference was that this time, Johnny was the one outside... and as Lola passed, she didn't look at him for even a second.

Their marriage ended just like that.

Not even a polite goodbye or take care, only her hatred and disdain for him... Johnny clutched his chest, taking a few steps back.Felicity showed up.

When she heard about Johnny's divorce, she could only sigh.

She supported Johnny, gently saying, "Mr. Flores, you need to go back to the hospital."

During his three-day hospital stay, Shirley kept pestering him.

Felicity entered the VIP room, put down some documents, and hesitated before saying, "Ms. Wells has been outside, wanting to see you, Mr. Flores... She can't just stay there forever."

Johnny, wearing a hospital gown, leaned against the headboard, lost in thought.

Hearing this, he said indifferently, "Let her in."

Felicity poured him a glass of water, placing it on the bedside table. "Alright, I'll call her in. It's good to clear things up."

With that, she went outside to call Shirley.

A moment later, Shirley entered. Seeing Johnny, she was a bit emotional but spoke cautiously, "Johnny, we..."

Johnny quietly watched her.

Shirley gazed at his handsome face, her heart fluttering.

She couldn't help but lean in to kiss him... but Johnny grabbed her hair and forcefully pushed her aside. Her forehead hit the bedside table, the sharp corner cutting her skin, and blood flowed.

She forgot the pain, staring at him in disbelief.

She couldn't believe the man who had once been gentle with her could treat her like this.

Johnny gripped her chin, his voice icy. "I told you not to provoke Lola! You knew she was mentally ill, yet you brought reporters to City Hall to agitate her!"

Shirley, stunned, mumbled, "I didn't mean to!"

"Johnny, you accepted me! You've divorced her, why not try starting over with me? How do you know you won't love me if you don't try?"

Johnny threw her aside.

He took a cigarette from his pants pocket, lit it, and exhaled a thin gray smoke.

He sneered, "Do you think there's so much love in this world?"

Shirley's face turned pale.

She finally realized that the man in front of her had never loved her, never intended to love her... not even a little. He had been with her just to provoke his wife, nothing more.

This realization made Shirley's face go white, but she suddenly laughed.

She softly retorted, "Was it me who provoked her? Johnny, Mr. Flores... wasn't it you? Who came home with me drunk, knowing it was wrong but still allowing me to get close? Who let me stay in your house, spent the night with me, played golf with me, took me to Lumina? Do you remember, you kissed me while sober, you touched my body."

Shirley's laugh had a hint of madness. "Lola saw those photos and videos, didn't she? How do you think she felt? Disgusted enough to vomit? A man cheating behind her back, pretending to be deeply in love in front of her, just thinking about it is nauseating!"Johnny's gaze was icy, fixed on her.

For a moment, Shirley was scared. She knew Johnny's ruthlessness, but then she felt fearless. She had nothing left to lose, what was there to fear?

She sneered, "I almost had you, didn't I?"

After being discharged, Johnny returned to the villa.

The same place, but without the usual liveliness. No aroma of food during the day, no children's voices at night... the villa was eerily quiet.

In the evening, Johnny sat on the terrace.

The servant came upstairs to call him for dinner. After calling twice, Johnny extinguished his cigarette and asked, "Has Mrs. Flores not come back at all?"

The servant hesitated for a few seconds before replying, "She hasn't come back. She said she'd come by when she had time."

Johnny was lost in thought.

The servant urged him to come down for dinner, but he said softly, "I'm not hungry, just leave it."

The servant wanted to say more but left.

Johnny continued to stare at the crimson clouds in the sky. Lola used to love watching the sunset here, so he had placed a set of sofas in this spot... He remembered one time they stayed late, the sky turned dark, and he held her, feeling passionate, wanting to make love to her right there.

That night, the breeze was gentle, everything was incredibly tender.

Lola sat in his lap, holding his neck, calling his name all night.

Memories flooded back, and Johnny looked at the wedding ring on his finger, his eyes suddenly red.

The next day, at Wise Counsel Law Firm.

Lola returned from outside, and as she reached the outer office, her assistant stood up hesitantly. "Ms. Hawkins, you have a visitor."

Lola asked naturally, "Who is it? A new client?"

The assistant bit her lip. "It's Mr. Flores."

Johnny?

Lola's expression tightened slightly. The assistant, always cautious of her mood, quickly said, "If you don't want to see him, I'll send him away."

Lola stopped her. "Let him wait in the small meeting room."

The assistant was relieved.

Lola returned to her office, organized the case files she had been working on, and then went to the meeting room to see Johnny. She knew that if she didn't see him, Johnny would find ways to approach her in various settings.

Opening the meeting room door, Johnny sat on the sofa, impeccably dressed, his wedding ring gleaming on his finger.

A brown paper bag sat on the table.

Lola didn't immediately enter. She stood by the door, her tone indifferent. "Mr. Flores, you seem to be doing well. Are you here to give me a wedding invitation?"
