Chapter 642 Move In With Me, Okay?
Amara got splashed with water and instinctively stepped back, landing right in Kingsley's arms.
She freaked out and tried to pull away, but he held her waist tight.
Kingsley leaned in close and whispered in her ear, "You wanna go again?"
Amara blushed, totally speechless.
Kingsley just wanted to hold her like that. But he couldn't help himself and said, "I told you last time, you're just too tempting now."
Amara's voice was shaky as she turned and leaned on his shoulder, murmuring, "Kingsley, please stop."
Under the thin blanket, their bodies were tangled up in a way that was hard to describe.
Kingsley lowered his head, his nose brushing lightly against her, making Amara bury her face in his chest, unable to handle it. After a moment, he asked softly, "Is it still just about sex this time?"
Amara felt a bit embarrassed.
Unexpectedly, Kingsley just gently stroked her waist, lowered his head, and kissed her for a long time.
After a while, he said in a husky voice, "You should move in with me."
Amara lay in his arms, listening to his pounding heartbeat. Despite her palpable exhaustion, sleep eluded her as she pondered Jesse's future.
The Hughes Family wouldn't give up, which meant Jesse wasn't safe.
If Jesse took the Hawkins name...
Amara's eyes grew slightly moist. She felt a bit sad and even more reluctant. She gently hugged Jesse, holding the warm little body close to her.
Over the years, it was more accurate to say that Jesse was her source of motivation rather than her taking care of him.
She always wanted to give Jesse the best. After tonight, she thought, 'Kingsley will be a good father.'
In the morning, Amara woke up to find it was already 8:30. She immediately sat up and patted her head. She rarely overslept like this.
Kingsley and Jesse were no longer in bed.
The smell of toast wafted in from outside, along with Jesse's voice and occasionally Kingsley's deep tones.
Amara lay back down and covered her face. She didn't regret what happened last night, but she didn't know how to face it.
Footsteps sounded at the door as Kingsley stood at the doorway, already dressed neatly, looking at Amara in bed. He smiled faintly. "Awake? Get up and have breakfast!"
Amara sat up, clutching the blanket. "Why didn't you wake me earlier?"
Kingsley spoke slowly, "I didn't want to tire you out."
Amara remained silent.
Kingsley's voice softened. "I called your secretary and got you a half-day off."
Amara stared at him for a while before lying back down. She looked at the ceiling, not wanting to move. Her body was definitely sore.
Kingsley walked in, sat beside her, and gently pulled the blanket away from her face. "Even if you're not going to work, you still need to eat! Later, I'll go with you to your apartment to move your stuff here. It's more spacious, and Jesse will be more comfortable."
Normally, Amara would refuse. But this time, she just looked at him.
Kingsley gently touched her face and said softly, "Go freshen up. There are clothes for you in the walk-in closet."
Amara wanted to get up, but wearing only his shirt, she felt shy.
Kingsley lightly brushed her cheek with his fingers and smiled. "It's not like I haven't seen it before."
"That's different!" Amara said, just as a scream came from the guest room. Kingsley patted her. "I'll go check on Jesse."
Amara, worried, followed him.
In the guest room, Jesse was sitting on the bed with a small box and its contents scattered: a diamond ring and an old, yellowed receipt.
Jesse picked up the receipt. He couldn't read, so he looked at it carefully, trying to fold it into a paper airplane. Kingsley approached and noticed it was from when Amara bought birth control pills, and he had kept it all this time.
Jesse, with his little legs spread out, was folding his beloved paper airplane and asked, "Dad, what's this?"
Amara saw it too. She glanced at Kingsley, and the atmosphere became a bit awkward.
Kingsley sighed lightly. He couldn't tell Jesse that if the items on that receipt had worked, he wouldn't exist!
But it was good that Jesse found these things. There was no need to hide them anymore!
Kingsley turned to Amara and said softly, "Go freshen up. I'll watch him."
Amara took another look at the receipt, feeling a bit speechless.
Was Kingsley a pervert?
During breakfast, Hailey called, and Amara responded vaguely.
After hanging up, Kingsley stared at her and asked, "You don't want Hailey to know about us now?"
"No! I'm just afraid she'll worry."
Kingsley got her a glass of milk and said no more. Amara slowly drank the milk and looked up. "I have some important work this morning. Let's move tonight."
Kingsley was quite pleased to hear this. Then he smiled slightly. "Alright."
Amara lowered her head to eat breakfast again. After a while, she helped Jesse set his plate and patiently taught him to use a fork. Jesse was obedient and smart, and Amara couldn't help but watch him for a long time, unable to bear leaving him.
