Chapter 112: Mr. Hawkins, Please Do Something About Charlotte.

Frederick came back to the apartment looking rough. Charlotte noticed and softly asked, "What's wrong?"

Frederick's blue eyes met hers. Charlotte had changed into a dark floral dress with a champagne-colored blazer, her golden hair flowing down her back, making her look gentle and beautiful.

Frederick motioned her over, and she walked to him. Leaning on her shoulder, he said, "I called Maria. Heard it was your birthday a few days ago. How about I make it up to you this Saturday?"

Charlotte was pleasantly surprised. Frederick kissed her lightly and said, "Drive me to the office."

Charlotte sensed he had something on his mind. She guessed it was about someone else, so she didn't ask. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and said playfully, "I can drive you to work every day if you want."

Frederick smiled, patted her gently, and went to change his clothes. Charlotte touched the Morning Dew, thinking Frederick was a great lover but would not be a good husband. He pampered her but would never truly love her. She was glad she realized this early, or she might have confessed her feelings and wanted to live with him forever, only to be disappointed.

"Charlotte," Frederick called, snapping her out of her thoughts. She smiled at his well-dressed appearance. "You look very handsome today!"

Frederick smirked. On the way to the office, they didn't talk until Frederick got out and whispered, "I might be a bit busy these days."

"I see," Charlotte said understandingly. Frederick leaned in to kiss her. Charlotte joked, "It's only been a few days, Frederick, and it feels like we've been together forever. Even our kisses are starting to feel routine."

Frederick, in a bad mood, suddenly felt a spark from her words. He chuckled, "Just wait! Oh, just wait. I'll show you our night routine once I'm done with work!"

Charlotte smiled faintly. "Okay, I'll wait."

After Frederick entered the office, Charlotte sat in the car, thinking. It seemed true—the person in Frederick's life had returned. She didn't dwell on it.

She met Ms. Garcia at a café. Ms. Garcia rushed in, took off her sunglasses, and said, "It's so hot today," downing a glass of iced coffee in one gulp. "So refreshing!" she exclaimed, then started talking about her troubles with renting a place.

Charlotte pushed a contract in front of her. "I think this will be more refreshing than iced coffee."

Ms. Garcia skeptically picked it up and was stunned. A 4,000 square foot prime office space, newly renovated, for only $100,000 a year? After reviewing it, Ms. Garcia kissed Charlotte hard. "Charlotte, you're my angel! You must have worked hard to get this contract, right?"

Charlotte uncomfortably brushed her hair aside. "Actually, it wasn't hard. He offered it willingly."

Ms. Garcia was satisfied. "A woman has to look out for herself. Following him without any commitment is pointless; you need to get something substantial. Alright, thanks."

Ms. Garcia was straightforward. She thought it over and bumped Charlotte's shares up to 40%.

Charlotte found it fair. They happily drank their coffee and chatted.

Director Garcia had some gossip. Knowing Charlotte was close to Lily, she asked, "What's up with Lily lately? Didn't Robert change? I saw him checking into a hotel with Tina last night."

Charlotte was shocked. She stirred her coffee slowly and said, "Maybe Lily doesn't know."

Ms. Garcia, not wanting to pry, moved on. But Charlotte was worried.

In her car, she called Lily. Before she could say anything, Lily spoke first, "Charlotte, you're calling about Robert and Tina, right?"

Charlotte sighed softly, not wanting to be direct. Lily's voice was tight and trembling. "I know he's a scumbag, but I love him. My family relies on him. Don't persuade me to divorce. I can't! As long as he doesn't bring anyone home, I'll pretend I don't know."

Charlotte found it hard to argue. But Lily was her best friend, so she couldn't just stand by. She invited Lily out for drinks and karaoke.

Lily drank a lot, crying and laughing, "Charlotte, why are we so unlucky? Both betrayed by Tina! How is she so good? She's not even that pretty. Why do men like her? Is it because she's slutty?"

Charlotte agreed. "She'll eventually meet her match!"

Lily, drunk and emotional, said, "She can only fool Robert! Last time, she got beaten up at Ethan's. She even tried to seduce Frederick, but he didn't even look at her. Only Robert falls for her!"

Lily ended up hugging the toilet, vomiting. When she sobered up a bit, Charlotte gently held her and whispered, "Lily, you should get a divorce."

Lily was only 24, young and beautiful. Robert wasn't worth it. She should cut her losses and focus on her career or find someone better.

Lily was stunned. "I want to! But I can't just let her steal my man. Our years together can't be beaten by a slut."

Charlotte felt a chill. She called Robert to pick her up. Surprisingly, Robert answered politely but refused. "Charlotte, stay out of our business! Yes, I cheated, but is Lily blameless? Who can stand her temper?"

Charlotte was angry. "If you can't stand her, divorce her! Find any young girl you want. Don't disgust us by being with someone we all know. We don't want to be with dirty men."

Robert was shocked. Was this Charlotte? Fiercer than his wife? What did Frederick see in her? Did he like being scolded?

Coincidentally, Robert was at a dinner party, and Frederick was there too. Others thought it was Lily and teased, "Did Lily give you a hard time again?"

Robert, drunk, looked at Frederick and smiled, "Mr. Hawkins, it was Charlotte, calling me a bastard. How about you talk to her?"
