Chapter 592 And You Dare Say You Like Me Like This!
The vibe was totally off.
Kingsley dipped his head a bit, locking eyes with Amara. There was a flicker in his gaze, but it vanished in a heartbeat.
Kingsley straightened up, his tall frame looking even more impressive with a simple stretch. He turned, snuffed out the half-smoked cigarette between his fingers, and said coolly, "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you I wouldn't see you? No matter what you do, it won't work. Let's part on good terms! Besides, I told you that you could make any request except me!"
He dropped the cigarette butt into some water.
Turning back, his perfect face was a mask of indifference.
He'd said a lot, but Amara just kept staring at him. After a bit, she croaked out, "Do you have another girlfriend?"
Kingsley was caught off guard.
Following her gaze, he saw the lipstick mark on his shirt collar and realized that Caitlyn had put it there on purpose.
He smirked and said casually, "That's none of your business! And this is not a place you should be."
With that, he headed towards the private room.
As Kingsley brushed past her, Amara grabbed his arm tightly and whispered, "Don't be with someone else."
In a moment of silence, she looked up, tears welling in her eyes, and repeated it.
He pried her hand away and sneered, "What right do you have to interfere with who I'm with? Do you really think I'm still hung up on you and can't live without you just because I sent you to the hospital? Even if you were just an animal on the street, I'd probably feel some pity!"
"Kingsley, you're not like that!"
"What makes you think I'm not? Just because of our ridiculous past? You used to reject me, saying we weren't from the same world. But do you even know what my world is like?"
Kingsley suddenly grabbed her slender wrist.
His thumb pressed on the spot where she had an IV, causing pain.
Before Amara could react, she was already being dragged by him into the private room, which was dark and filled with the sounds of music and revelry, exuding an air of decadence.
"No!" Amara didn't know what he intended to do, but she didn't want to go in and resisted.
But she was already pinned against the door by him.
Kingsley's body trapped her, his towering frame enveloping her in an intense male presence that overwhelmed her senses.
This reminded Amara of those nights when he would always trap her and tease her.
But those were private moments, just the two of them.
Now, in the private room, there were at least seven or eight people watching.
Jimmy and the others were stunned. When they realized who Kingsley was holding, Jimmy laughed. "Amara came to check up on you! Haha, we were just messing around earlier!"
After saying that, Jimmy himself felt it was awkward.
Caitlyn, however, wasn't angry. She held a cocktail, silently observing Amara. She smiled faintly and thought that Amara was a very ordinary girl.
Kingsley ignored them. He looked down at Amara, their faces so close it seemed like they were about to kiss. In fact, Kingsley did want to kiss her, but he hadn't drunk enough to lose his senses.
His nose brushed against hers, and he asked in a low voice, "Are you leaving or not?"
"No!" Amara's voice was like a kitten's, clearly bullied by him.
Kingsley sneered. He let go of her and stepped back, pulling out a cigarette from his pocket and lighting it, his eyes lowered as he glanced at her.
The lighter flickered. He lit the cigarette, took a long drag, and slowly exhaled a thin stream of smoke. "You brought this on yourself!" After saying that, he ignored her.
He walked back to his previous spot, where Caitlyn thoughtfully handed him a glass of whiskey. Jimmy suggested, "Should we invite Amara to join us?"
Kingsley gave him a deep look.
For the sake of the Lawson Group's business, Jimmy shut up. He glanced at Amara and smiled helplessly.
"Let's play bridge!" Kingsley said indifferently. As soon as he spoke, the private room became lively again. It was clear that he held a different status in this small circle. Although they were all wealthy heirs indulging in pleasure, they knew who not to mess with.
Kingsley had good luck tonight and was winning, while Caitlyn wasn't so lucky. She became coquettish and bold, wrapping her arms around his neck and pouting. "Kingsley, let me win."
Caitlyn's soft red lips brushed against his neck, exuding an indescribable intimacy.
Kingsley didn't push her away, and he just gently patted her shoulder with a hint of indulgence.
Amara stood against the door, quietly watching. She knew Kingsley was doing it on purpose; he wanted her to see what his world was like. But she still couldn't take it.
Amara turned around, her hands trembling as she opened the door.
Behind her, Kingsley's voice came. "If you walk out that door, don't ever appear in front of me again!"
Amara's body trembled uncontrollably. She wanted to turn around and tell him not to be close to others. But she didn't dare!
Kingsley sneered, "And you think you love me? You think you're worthy of me?"
Tears streamed down Amara's cheeks. How could Kingsley understand that her upbringing didn't allow her to be confident and bold, to have the courage to fight for what she wanted?
He knew very well how dazzling Caitlyn was by his side, with her good family background. In contrast, Amara had nothing. What did she have to compete with?
Amara's body trembled for a long time, but in the end, she opened the door and ran out. She wanted to escape to a place without people, away from Kingsley's cologne and the lipstick mark on his shirt.
The door to the private room was left ajar, gently swaying. And Amara had already disappeared from sight.
"Kingsley, was that necessary?" Jimmy advised.
But as soon as Jimmy finished speaking, a crystal mug was thrown against the wall by the door, shattering into pieces.
No one dared to speak.
It was the first time they had seen Kingsley like this, going crazy over a woman.
"Sorry, I lost my composure!" Kingsley stood up and said indifferently. "I'll treat you all to dinner to apologize when I get back from Libytania. I'm leaving now."
Jimmy tried to stop him but couldn't.
He was worried something might happen to Kingsley, so he gave Caitlyn a look. Caitlyn walked over and said softly, "Kingsley, you've had too much to drink. I have a driver; let me take you home."
Kingsley was already at the door.
Caitlyn obediently stayed by his side. Given her family background, she really didn't need to flatter Kingsley like this. But she knew that if she remained reserved, she would miss her chance. After all, Amara was too attracted to Kingsley.
Kingsley wasn't oblivious to her intention. When she offered to take him home in such a setting, it only meant one thing: she wanted to sleep with him.
Given Caitlyn's status, he would have to take responsibility.
Kingsley leaned against the door, lit a cigarette, and silently observed Caitlyn.
He smoked half a cigarette.
Then he said indifferently, "Let's go!"
He thought, 'Why not give it a try? After all, we have grown up together; maybe it would work out.'
Caitlyn smiled slightly. She gently took Kingsley's arm, said goodbye to Jimmy and the others, her demeanor already that of a hostess. Jimmy and the others were quite emotional, thinking that Amara had paved the way for Caitlyn.
Usually, Kingsley wasn't so easily accepting of women around him.
Moments later, Kingsley was sitting in the black car, with Caitlyn taking care of him.
Caitlyn handed him some ice water and even thoughtfully opened it for him.
The driver drove smoothly, and he felt no discomfort. But he couldn't help comparing her to Amara. Compared to Caitlyn, Amara really didn't know how to please a man.
But Caitlyn's attentiveness didn't move him.
Caitlyn's figure, face, and family background were all far superior to Amara's, but so what? At this moment, with Caitlyn's body pressed against his, he felt no desire.
Kingsley suddenly felt disinterested.
Caitlyn didn't notice. She continued to talk to him considerately, asking where he wanted to spend the night, clearly wanting to sleep with him tonight.
Kingsley said indifferently, "Take me back to the area near the company."
Caitlyn was stunned for a moment.
He decided to be straightforward. "I had a fleeting thought of trying with you, but now I think there's no need or possibility for us to develop further. I don't want to waste your time."
Caitlyn was completely stunned.
She looked up at him. "You're still thinking about her? Kingsley, she's not from our world. Are you sure you want to choose her?"
Kingsley rolled down the window, holding back his temper. "I'm about to go to Libytania. I'm not getting into any relationships."
"Then I'll go with you!" Caitlyn cupped his handsome face, unwilling to give up such an opportunity. She said softly and seductively, "Let's give it a try, okay?"
Kingsley squinted slightly.
He was about to push her away when he caught a glimpse of Amara across the street.
Amara was wearing very little, and it had rained outside. She stood there hugging her arms.
The black car slowly passed by, and Amara watched the scene inside.
Amara saw him sitting in the luxurious car, with the soft and fragrant Caitlyn leaning against him, asking for a kiss. Amara stared blankly. If she had convinced herself that what happened in the private room was an act, the scene now made her realize he really wanted to end their relationship.
She was the only one holding on. Her persistence, in his eyes, was just entanglement and tolerance.
Amara self-deprecatingly thought, 'What makes me think I am special enough in his heart to be forgiven time and again, and he will choose me over a gentle and beautiful woman?'
She quietly watched Kingsley entangle with Caitlyn, feeling utterly heartbroken.
The car passed by her, only splashing a little water on the road.
