Chapter 497 Want to Come Over and Feel?
The call ended with a sharp click. Gavin muttered a curse under his breath.
He glanced over at Sarah. Snow was starting to fall again, and she was shivering in the cold wind. But Gavin didn't feel a shred of pity.
He turned to the servant next to him. "If she doesn't leave, call the cops."
Sarah watched him walk away and yelled, "Gavin, you jerk!"
Gavin spun around. "Then why would you like me? Sarah, there's no chance for us."
Sarah wanted to say more, but Gavin was already striding away.
He went back inside to grab his coat and car keys. "Mom, Dad, I'm heading out for a bit."
Andrew frowned. "You barely come home, and now you're leaving again?"
Natalie chimed in, "Gavin needs his own life!"
Gavin ruffled her hair, feeling a bit better. "Come with me."
Natalie protested, "I haven't finished eating!" But Gavin had already pulled her up, put a coat on her, and even plopped a cute hat on her head before dragging her out.
Natalie felt pretty annoyed. Sitting in the car, she sniffled and was about to speak when she saw Gavin dialing a number. She had no idea who he was calling, but his voice was tense. "Sarah's in Copenhegan. Send someone to bring her back! If I let her keep acting out, who knows what kind of crazy stuff she might pull."
The person on the other end said something. Gavin lowered his voice. "Sorry, I can't force it." He hung up and started the car.
As they drove off, Sarah was being escorted out by several servants. Natalie looked out the window and asked softly, "Is that Sarah?"
Gavin glanced at her, a bit surprised.
Natalie sighed, "Molly must be mad, right? Are you rushing over to calm her down? But why are you taking me?"
Gavin kept his eyes on the road. After a moment, he said softly, "You're going to keep Nathan and Amanda company." Natalie nodded obediently.
Gavin drove fast, and Natalie patted his arm. "Gavin!"
He snapped back to reality and slowed down a bit. At a red light, he lit a cigarette and smoked silently.
Natalie watched him. She suddenly felt that Gavin was quite pitiful. He used to be just a workaholic, but now he was clearly suffering from love.
She couldn't help but ask, "Gavin, do you really like Molly?"
Gavin responded with a hum.
Natalie looked at him for a while and then said softly, "Well, I like her too."
Gavin patted her head.
By the time they arrived at the Green Group, it was already 8 PM.
Nathan was sitting in the living room watching TV, and Amanda was knitting beside him. When she looked up, she saw Gavin bringing Natalie in. Nathan smiled and said deliberately, "Why do you keep coming to our house?"
Gavin turned to Natalie. "Keep Nathan and Amanda company for a while."
Natalie nodded.
Gavin went straight upstairs, heading to Molly's room. Nathan angrily shouted, "Don't go too far; you two aren't even engaged yet."
Natalie clung to his arm. She blinked gently, "Nathan, I'm still hungry."
Nathan looked at her, feeling sorry, and while cursing Gavin, he personally cooked for Natalie.
Natalie buzzed around him, clearly excited.
Amanda kept knitting, unfazed.
Even with all four members of the Green Group working together, they couldn't outsmart Gavin!
Upstairs, Gavin didn't bother knocking; he just walked right into Molly's bedroom.
She had just showered, her hair still dripping wet. She was wearing a crimson silk nightgown, looking stunning, but Gavin wasn't in the mood for that. He gently closed the door behind him.
Molly looked at him, "Why are you here?"
Gavin leaned against the door, his voice rough, "I was worried you'd get the wrong idea, so I came over."
Molly threw on a robe to cover herself and started drying her hair with a towel. After a few wipes, she lowered her eyes, "I didn't misunderstand."
Gavin quietly moved closer. He took the towel from her hand and started drying her hair. They both stayed silent.
After a long while, Molly spoke, "Let's end this."
Gavin's hand paused, then he kept drying her hair. Amid the noise of the hairdryer, Molly's voice was faint, like she was saying "let's end this" again.
Gavin put down the hairdryer. He knelt down, looking up at her. When she tried to avoid his gaze, he held her hand.
Molly felt embarrassed.
It was clearly her issue, but now that Gavin was here to comfort her, it made her seem pretentious. But who could know how much criticism she had endured over the years because of her background? How many nights had she cried herself to sleep?
She should have had a good life.
Choosing anyone else would have been easier than being with Gavin.
But there was only one Gavin in this world.
Molly's eyes welled up. She reached out to touch his handsome face and, for the first time, confessed to him, "Gavin, we're happy together, but there will also be a lot of pain! I can't ignore my background. I'm even afraid to appear in front of Chloe as your girlfriend!"
As she spoke, she looked dazed and very sad. "Last night gave us an illusion! I thought I could be with you openly, but Sarah showing up at the Devereux Mansion shattered all my courage! Gavin, you abandoned me once. This time, it's my fault."
She said it all in one breath, probably having thought about it for a long time.
Gavin held her hand, "None of that is your fault."
"But it is my mother's fault. Gavin, being with you means I could have my scars exposed at any time. I don't want that! I admit I'm weak and selfish because I want to keep my current life. I've said before, you're not the only one in my life."
Gavin had thought about all of this. Being with Molly would definitely bring trouble, most likely from the Hughes Family.
Gavin didn't push her further. But he didn't give up either. He half-knelt, resting his head against her soft belly, and said softly, "Let's handle this later, okay?"
Molly started crying, "Gavin, why do this?"
Gavin didn't respond. Of course, it was because he couldn't let go! If he could, who would choose a difficult path? But up to now, he had no regrets and had never thought of giving up.
He told her to eat well; some things he needed to handle himself.
Gavin went downstairs, and Amanda didn't even look up. She just snorted, "Got into trouble? I told you, if you haven't sorted out your issues, don't come bothering Molly! She's young and easily fooled by you."
Gavin didn't argue. He sat down across from Amanda.
Amanda sneered, "You have some nerve! I'm not going to speak up for you!"
Gavin spoke gently, "I didn't mean that! I just wanted to keep you company."
Amanda looked up at his handsome face.
She felt a bit satisfied. After all, it always came down to the man taking the initiative in a relationship.
A little conflict now was good, just to see his sincerity.
Gavin kept her company for a while and then asked where Natalie was.
Natalie, having eaten her fill, was wandering around the villa. There was a swimming pool in the backyard, and despite the cold weather, it was filled with water, and someone was swimming in it.
Natalie mistook that person for Anthony. She squatted by the pool and called out in a crisp voice, "Anthony, aren't you cold?"
Anthony Green was 40, old enough to be Natalie's father.
When he returned to the country, he always brought things for her.
Natalie waited eagerly, expecting him to bring her some treats when he got out of the pool.
Suddenly, a person emerged from the water, their body fit and glistening with water droplets that slid down their muscular frame, making their chest look very sexy!
Natalie blushed. She stared at the person for a long time before stammering, "Are you a man or a woman?"
Clayton wiped his rugged face.
With a flick of his hand, water splashed onto Natalie's face.
He smiled mischievously, "Want to check?"
Natalie looked down and then covered her eyes, "Why aren't you wearing pants?"
"Swim trunks are pants too!"
Clayton had returned from Syeattel, bringing his parents to Copenhegan. His parents stayed in a hotel, but he liked to swim a few laps every day, so he stayed at the Green Mansion.
He grabbed a towel to dry himself while sizing up Natalie. The girl was quite pretty, resembling Gavin quite a bit. No need to ask to know her identity.
Natalie asked softly, "Are your chest muscles real or fake? How can they be so big?"
Clayton casually tossed the towel aside, lay down on a lounge chair, covered himself with a bath towel, and patted the spot next to him, "Want to come over and feel?"
Natalie said, "No way!"
Clayton laughed, his white teeth looking particularly striking in the night.
He looked at her, "Did you come with Gavin? What's he up to now?"
Natalie sat beside him, "You like Molly too, right?"
Clayton didn't answer her question, just rubbed his chin, seemingly deep in thought.
Natalie's eyes were particularly bright, blinking at him.
Clayton was about to say something when a tall figure approached—it was Gavin.
Rivals meeting.
Clayton immediately threw off the bath towel, showing off his physique. Gavin, dressed modestly, looked down at him and smiled lightly, "Isn't it cold in this weather?"
Clayton chuckled, "Thinking of Molly living here keeps me warm!"
Gavin retorted sharply, "Living here forever won't help!"
Clayton didn't mind. He exchanged a few more barbs, and sure enough, Gavin's face darkened. Clayton thought to himself, 'But this bastard's sister is quite cute!'
Gavin took Natalie away, and Clayton winked.
Natalie couldn't resist and ran back to touch his muscles. They felt really good!
Gavin was furious, "Natalie!"
Natalie, after touching, pulled her hand back and ran off with Gavin's arm.
Clayton shook his head. He got up and dove back into the pool.
Gavin returned to the Devereux Mansion.
Andrew called him into the study and asked directly, "Was it Sarah who came over tonight?"
Gavin didn't deny it.
Andrew looked at him, not blaming him but rather thinking deeply before saying calmly, "Gavin, in the past, I did things like you, leaving no room for maneuver. But now I'm old, and many things just need to look good on the surface. With Sarah, I can't say you're wrong, but you do have a responsibility! If you had realized your feelings for Molly earlier, you wouldn't have gone on a blind date with Sarah. So, for this matter, you need to give the Hughes Family some face and settle it!"
He thought Gavin wouldn't agree. But Gavin nodded, "Dad, I think the same way!"
Then Gavin planned to go back to Syeattel to resolve things with the Hughes Family.
Businessmen, they were all about profit. Sweeten the deal for the Hughes Family, and this whole thing blew over.
Andrew nodded, and they discussed what benefits to offer and to what extent—these things were important!
The next day, Gavin flew to Syeattel. Of course, Sarah went back too.
Gavin met with the Hughes Family's two children. The Hughes Family's son also had a business mindset. After some discussion, Gavin offered a new energy project, which finally settled the matter well. The project's net profit was at least a billion dollars.
Sarah's father was satisfied and announced the termination of the engagement the next day. Gavin returned to Copenhegan that evening.
The Devereux Family and the Green Group had always been close.
Over the years, Amanda and her children had often been abroad, and Nathan would come to the Devereux Mansion for meals, this year being no exception.
He brought his wife and son and daughter-in-law.
Chloe greeted them, looked around, and asked, "Where's Molly?"
Nathan felt a bit uneasy.
Chloe said, "You shouldn't have left her behind!"
Just then, Gavin's car slowly drove in. As soon as he got out, his mother said, "Gavin, you're back just in time. Molly didn't come over. Go pick her up for dinner!"
Gavin's eyes were deep and unreadable.
The atmosphere was also very subtle.
Finally, Gavin smiled faintly, "Alright, I'll go get her. You all go ahead and sit with Nathan and Amanda."
Nathan and Amanda remained silent.
Chloe invited them in. Andrew was in the hall instructing the staff. When he saw them come in, he took out gifts for the children, and the largest one was obviously for Molly.
Chloe smiled, "Gavin went to pick Molly up!"
Andrew put his arm around Chloe's shoulder, "It's her first time coming over; you should prepare a gift for her."
