Chapter 393 She Bumped Into Familiar Faces
Guys were always trying to flirt, and most girls couldn't help but fall for it.
Charlotte was pregnant and didn't want to stir the pot.
After a quiet hug, she whispered, "Time to head home! Lola and Johnny still gotta finish their homework!"
Frederick held her tight and seemed a bit hesitant.
Charlotte reassured him, "You don't have to act like this! Going home doesn't mean you can't hold me."
She felt her cheeks warm up after saying that.
Frederick gave a small smile and finally let her go.
Before they left, he picked out a loose white down jacket for her, and she looked awesome in it.
Frederick buttoned it up for her, his eyes intense. "Let's go home!"
He usually had the kids well-trained, so when it was time to go, they all grabbed their coats.
Lola even helped Kingsley with his hat.
She held Kingsley's hand and skipped towards the car.
Charlotte watched them, her eyes soft.
Frederick took her hand.
He said softly, "Lola's doing great now!"
Lola used to be a bit shy, but over the past two years, she had become almost normal, especially after Kingsley and Johnny came along. They didn't have to worry about her anymore.
Charlotte's gaze softened even more.
She gently squeezed Frederick's hand, feeling all warm inside.
In the car, the kids were already buckled up, especially Kingsley, who was secured in his child seat by Lola, with the seatbelt perfectly fastened.
Frederick gently pressed the gas pedal.
With his wife and kids in the car, he drove slowly, letting Charlotte enjoy the romance of the light snow.
But to get home, they had to pass a certain road.
That was where Ethan had his accident.
The temperature difference between inside and outside the car made the windows foggy, and Charlotte couldn't help but trace some words lightly.
The writing was a bit blurry.
Frederick occasionally glanced back but didn't say anything. He even slowed down the car.
When they got home, Charlotte went to take a bath, and Frederick watched the kids do their homework.
Lola and Johnny were both super smart, so he's mainly there for company rather than for homework guidance.
In the evening, he returned to the bedroom to find Charlotte in loungewear, leaning on the sofa and talking on the phone.
On the other end, it seemed to be Elizabeth.
Frederick didn't disturb her, just went over to pour a glass of water and drank it slowly.
"I understand," Charlotte said softly and hung up the phone.
Frederick still stood where he was and asked her, "Is it about Tina?"
Charlotte nodded. She knew Frederick always wanted to use a more forceful method.
She didn't want him to do that.
Even though Frederick was now in business, he had been an excellent lawyer, and she couldn't let his hands get dirty. To deal with Tina, they had to use equally underhanded methods.
Frederick drank half the glass of water.
He looked down at the glass. "Charlotte, can you guarantee safety? If you're not sure, then I'll take over."
Charlotte gently walked over.
She hugged him from behind and softly said, "I've been burned once; do you think I'll let it happen again?"
She had people watching Tina. Tina's every move couldn't escape her notice!
Time flew by. The Devereux family came to the Hawkins family to deliver betrothal presents and discuss the wedding.
Andrew was very sincere and brought a lot of gifts. The Hawkins family was very satisfied.
After everything was settled, Charlotte finally felt relieved.
Coincidentally, the kids' kindergarten was also on break. Frederick had a meeting, so Charlotte took the driver's car to pick them up.
It was time for school to end.
The kids lined up to come out.
Charlotte saw Lola following behind Johnny, her little head held high, occasionally calling out to Johnny.
Johnny had two small backpacks on his back.
Seeing Charlotte, Lola ran over and gently hugged her.
Johnny carefully placed the backpack in the back seat. Charlotte ruffled his hair. "Guess what, guys? We're going out for dinner tonight!"
Lola immediately piped up, "What about Kingsley?"
Charlotte chuckled. "Kingsley's at Grandpa's! Tonight, it's just the three of us!"
Lola quickly hopped into the car, all excited.
It was just a dinner, but Charlotte didn't expect to bump into familiar faces at the swankiest restaurant in Syeattel, the one where the average tab is like $2,000 a head.
Charlotte led the kids inside.
The place was cozy and fancy. She took off her coat and let the waiter guide them to their reserved table.
As soon as they got there, she was a bit taken aback.
At the next table, there were a bunch of people she knew.
Brian and Sophie were sitting together. Landon and Tina were there too, and Oliver was also hanging out.
Seeing Oliver again made Charlotte feel a bit uneasy.
Oliver had left a mark on her. When she was at her lowest, he had said, "Charlotte, give me a chance!"
Now, seeing each other again, they both had their own lives.
Although Oliver kept glancing at her, Charlotte was no longer that naive girl. She smiled gracefully and greeted them, then her eyes landed on Landon and Tina, smiling lightly. "Didn't expect to see you two together!"
As soon as she spoke, Tina gave a faint smile.
Tina had just used Landon before, hooking up with him for mutual gain. But she never expected Landon to have such a powerful background.
His dad was a billionaire.
She had to hold onto him tight, so she had been sticking to Landon lately, ditching all the other guys around her. She knew he had many women around him, but she believed she could control him.
She no longer opposed Charlotte and spoke gently, "Charlotte, wanna join us?"
She was faking it, and Charlotte didn't call her out.
Charlotte just smiled slightly. "Thanks, but the kids can be a bit wild!"
Landon sat there.
He looked at the two adorable kids in turn and asked, "Are they both yours?"
Charlotte didn't deny it.
She patted Johnny and Lola's heads.
Lola looked at his clothes and wasn't impressed.
She raised her little head and huffed, "Jealous, aren't you?"
Landon was taken aback.
He looked at Lola's fair face and golden curls; she was stunning, but also had quite the attitude, much like her dad!
He felt a bit indignant.
Lola's eyes darted between him and Tina, then she softly said, "If you like kids, have Tina give you one! But she won't be able to have babies as beautiful and smart as Johnny and me."
Landon didn't mind.
Tina's face turned sour.
She couldn't have kids anymore. She had had a child years ago that wasn't Robert's and later had dumped it in an orphanage.
She didn't know if the kid was alive or not.
And she didn't want to know.
At this moment, she was thinking if she married Landon, she would have to find a way to bring that kid back, to have a child of her own.
While she was lost in thought, Charlotte had already sat at the next table.
Charlotte gently took care of the kids, exuding a soft femininity, showing no trace of the former CEO of Vertex Innovations Group, who was known for her shrewdness.
Tina thought, 'Charlotte's been in high society for too long; she's no match for me.'
She wanted to marry Landon.
At seven o'clock, she took the initiative to sit at the piano and played a piece live!
Tina had indeed practiced and played well.
But no one really cared.
When she returned, she deliberately glanced at Charlotte, somewhat provocatively.
Landon rewarded her with a kiss and praised her a few times.
Tina gently held a wine glass and fed him some aperitif.
Sophie was stunned.
Brian hugged her slender waist and said indifferently, "I'll feed you something good when we get home."
Oliver glanced at him.
Brian instantly shut up.
