Chapter 70 Elijah Mitchell Returned Home

Lily paused for a moment before bursting out, "I didn't realize Frederick is that kind of man."

Charlotte, more reserved, blushed and took her phone back.

Despite Lily's persistent questioning, Charlotte wouldn't spill the beans. She felt too awkward to admit that things hadn't gone all the way with Frederick last night. Frederick had managed to keep her engaged for hours.

Eager to poke fun at her friend some more, Lily was gearing up for the next tease. Suddenly, a news segment flashed across the café's LCD screen.

Elijah Mitchell, a renowned pianist, had made a comeback to the country and was preparing for a tour across major cities.

On the screen, he was surrounded by reporters, causing quite a commotion.

Lily snickered. "Elijah Mitchell, the real deal! Huge following, and his shows are mega bucks! Who would've guessed he was once a broke dude struggling to make rent 25 years ago!"

Charlotte, being a piano enthusiast, was already familiar with Elijah. She greatly admired him, with her instructor having even pointed out a resemblance in their playing styles. Charlotte had been over the moon for days after hearing that.

Elijah seemed like an unreachable icon to her, and the news about him reignited a slow-burning passion in Charlotte's heart. Her desire to play the piano still flickered. Perhaps Frederick's idea had merit; once things settled down, she might consider furthering her studies in Novaria.

Lost in contemplation, Charlotte was drawn back by Lily's query, "What's on your mind, Charlotte?"

Charlotte offered a faint smile. "Nothing much."

As Lily pointed at the screen, she suddenly remarked, "Charlotte, have you noticed Elijah is ambidextrous? Just like you! That's pretty rare."

Charlotte couldn't help but take a closer look. She unconsciously grinned. "Maybe it's because we both play the piano."

Lily nudged her. "No! The odds of that are really low. It has nothing to do with the piano. It's just a coincidence."

Charlotte nodded quietly, her gaze fixed on the elegant figure on the screen.

Playfully, Lily teased, "If I didn't know about your thing with Frederick, I'd think you were crushing on the seasoned musician."

Charlotte felt her temper rising, but Lily quickly interjected with a change of topic. "Let's brainstorm outfits for the reunion! We can't let Tina steal the spotlight."

Charlotte wasn't eager to compete with someone like Tina, but with Frederick in the mix, she didn't want to disappoint him. So, she snagged a couple more pairs of high heels and got her long locks restyled. Once done, she felt she was rocking the look.

After hailing a cab home, Charlotte sprawled on the couch and called Frederick. It rang for a while before he answered.

"Heading home tonight?"

A soft chuckle followed. "Last night was fun; you want an encore tonight?"

Blushing, Charlotte brushed off the comment and stayed silent.

Frederick, leaning against the balcony of Hawkins Mansion, ran his fingers over the white curtains. He murmured, "Some guest from Novaria is dropping by soon. Looks like I won't make it over tonight."

Turning around, Frederick was faced with a graceful man in his forties.

After a brief exchange with Charlotte over the phone, he politely ended the call. Then he greeted the man with a slight grin. "Mr. Mitchell, it's been a while."

The man was indeed Elijah, a close friend of Patrick Hawkins, sharing a deep bond with him.

Though officially back for a concert tour, Elijah's true purpose was a discreet quest to find his biological daughter.
