Chapter 472 Andrew, I'm Actually Really Scared!

Chloe looked over at Adeline.

Adeline seemed calm, but Chloe could see the hurt and fear in her eyes.

At Adeline's age, she should be enjoying her golden years, especially after Andrew's close call. Who would've thought someone close to her would almost cause her harm?

Chloe got it. She was scared too back then.

She stayed with Adeline all night. Andrew was in the study teaching Gavin, while Natalie sat quietly on his lap.

Around ten at night, Adeline noticed Chloe still hanging around and smiled, "It's late. You should get some rest. I'm okay."

Chloe felt a bit awkward. Adeline sent her upstairs.

On the second floor, Andrew wasn't in the bedroom; she found him in the kids' room.

Gavin was asleep. Andrew was leaning against the headboard, with Natalie lying on him. Freshly bathed, she was in a onesie, looking up at Andrew with soft eyes.

Andrew was reading her a fairy tale in a low voice.

Whenever he got to the part about the evil queen, Natalie would bury her face in Andrew's stomach.

Chloe stood at the door, feeling a bit envious.

Andrew looked up and saw her, his gaze deep, signaling her to head back to the bedroom.

Chloe knew Natalie was about to sleep.

She went back to the bedroom, took a shower, and when she came out, Andrew was there.

He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, a cigarette halfway burned between his fingers.

Chloe was a bit surprised. She tiptoed over and took the cigarette from his fingers, whispering, "Why are you smoking?"

Andrew wasn't in great health and was usually disciplined. Something must be bothering him.

Andrew turned to Chloe. After a long pause, he finally said, "I messed up with Nina. If I'd been more careful from the start, she wouldn't have had the chance! Chloe, I made you and Adeline sad."

Chloe shook her head and gently hugged him, "It's not your fault."

Andrew held her close for a long time, then softly said, "Trust me, I won't let her get near you and the kids again, nor will I let her mess with our lives."

Chloe's heart trembled.

But she didn't plead for Nina. Seeing Nina's miserable end now, she knew that if Andrew hadn't been vigilant that day, he might have faced a life-threatening situation. Who would sympathize with him then? They'd just think he was careless and turn the tragedy into gossip.

It was then she realized that Andrew was also deeply shaken. He had his worries; he couldn't bear to lose her and the kids, and he felt for Adeline, which made him scared.

Chloe watched as the cigarette was snuffed out, and Andrew's hand slid around her waist, pressing her against the window.

His nose brushed against her neck, his voice rough, "I keep saying I'm fine, but you won't let me touch you for a week! Chloe, I take care of myself for you guys, but I'm not that fragile."

Chloe had been with him long enough to know what he was thinking.

Her face turned red, and she stammered, "I never said you couldn't touch me!"

Andrew didn't budge, his deep eyes locked on hers.

Fresh out of the shower, Chloe wore a silk robe, looking sexy and alluring, especially with her long, beautiful legs exposed.

Andrew's hand moved down, pulling open the tie at her waist.

She immediately clung to him, biting her lip and whining, "Cold!"

Andrew held her, turning on the air conditioner with one hand.

The temperature was set high, and the heating kicked in, making the room warm and cozy in no time. Soon, a fine sheen of sweat appeared on her delicate, graceful body.

"Still cold?" Andrew whispered in her ear.

Chloe hugged him tightly.

She couldn't say a word, feeling only the heat around her, everything blurring, her mind filled only with the sensations Andrew brought her.

By the time they were done, it was already 1 AM.

Chloe lay in Andrew's arms, taking a long time to recover, then softly complained, "I think that medicine's effect hasn't worn off yet!"

Andrew chuckled lightly.

He gently stroked her shoulder, his voice low and tender, "I'm going to take a shower."

Chloe lazily responded. She wanted to talk to him when he got back, but she was too tired and fell asleep as soon as she closed her eyes. In a daze, she felt Andrew lying back beside her.

She heard his faint words, "If everyone behaved this well, I wouldn't smoke!"

In the morning, Chloe woke up.

Andrew was already gone, and Gavin had gone to school.

Only Natalie was lying by the bed, curiously watching her.

Chloe got up and realized she was wearing Andrew's black shirt, causing her face to heat up.

After washing up, she carried Natalie downstairs, where Adeline was tidying up.

Chloe checked the time; it was already ten o'clock, and she felt quite embarrassed.

Adeline didn't mind at all and seemed very pleased. It seemed Andrew did a good job; he really satisfied Chloe.

Adeline didn't mention it and even suggested taking her and Natalie for a trip to the mountains.

Chloe was quite surprised.

She knew Adeline believed in this, but since coming to Syeattel, she had never seen her go for worship.

When she asked, Adeline just smiled faintly.

The group arrived in the mountains, and Chloe realized they were there to pay respects to the astrologer. But the astrologer had already passed away, and it was his junior fellow apprentice who greeted them. After Adeline, Chloe, and Natalie paid their respects, Adeline stayed alone in a room for a long time.

Chloe vaguely heard that it was the room the astrologer had lived in.

When Adeline came out, her eyes were slightly red.

Chloe had a guess but didn't dare to say anything. On the way back, she stayed close to Adeline, and even Natalie sat quietly.

When Andrew returned, she told him about it. Andrew took off his coat and sat on the sofa, pulling Chloe onto his lap after a long while.

He rested his chin on her head and softly said, "Adeline is a very strong-willed person." He only said this and then fell silent.

Chloe didn't ask further. She gently hugged Andrew and kissed his neck after a while.

Andrew asked her in a low voice, "What are your plans next?"

He wanted her to stay, but they hadn't officially remarried, and he knew she wouldn't agree.

Sure enough, Chloe softly said, "I'll take the kids back to the apartment. I won't work for now and spend time with them."

Andrew didn't push her. He just pinched her nose, "Come over on weekends to see Adeline."

"Okay!" she agreed readily.

She was almost out of breath, her face turning red, just about to pat him to let her go. But Andrew kissed her.

The sunset's afterglow shone through the glass, casting a colorful glaze on them.

Chloe was almost undressed, being affectionately held down on the sofa. She resisted, crying softly that someone might come in.

Andrew coaxed her, "No one will come over! The people at home are all elderly, and they only clean in the morning. They won't disturb us at this time."

She scolded him again. They had just indulged in intimacy last night, and now he wanted more.

Andrew chuckled.

His nose brushed against hers, gently rubbing.

It wasn't a particularly sensitive spot, but his actions made her face flush inexplicably. She pushed against his shoulder, not letting him touch her, "Stop it!"

Andrew pulled all the curtains open, and she looked stunning in the sunset.

Andrew had been with her many times, but rarely used those teasing methods. Most of the time, just looking at her young, tender body was enough to excite him.

But now, she had grown into a mature woman.

Some things were even more interesting than before. She might resist at first, but later she would respond to him.

Andrew whispered in her ear, "I don't have many good years left. Be good, okay?"

Chloe was on the verge of tears from his teasing.

He was such a jerk! He was doing it on purpose!

Andrew knew when to stop. After finishing, he tidied up his clothes, ready to pick up Gavin.

Chloe angrily kicked him. Andrew chuckled, catching her leg, and helped her get dressed, kissing her gently, "Rest if you're tired. I'll make it up to you tonight."

Chloe lay on the sofa, not wanting to move.

Andrew drove to pick up Gavin. Gavin noticed Andrew was in a particularly good mood as soon as he got in the car, pursing his lips.

Andrew was indeed in a good mood.

After driving for 10 minutes, he pulled over.

There was a famous dessert place nearby. Andrew unbuckled his seatbelt, "I'll take you to get some desserts, and we'll bring some for your mom too. She's quite upset right now, so let's cheer her up!"

Gavin got out of the car.

Closing the door, he looked up, "If Mom's upset, why are you so happy?"

Andrew patted his head. "Gavin, you'll understand when you grow up!"

Gavin remembered some nights when he saw Andrew pressing Chloe, kissing her until she cried. His face turned red.

There were many people in line, so he picked up Gavin.

Gavin felt even more awkward. He was growing up and felt embarrassed being held by Andrew. But he didn't want to get down either, feeling conflicted.

Andrew bought several servings. When they got back in the car, he looked at Gavin through the rearview mirror, "Why aren't you eating?"

Gavin held the desserts. After a long time, he said, "I want to eat it with Mom."

Andrew's eyes slightly misted, but he quickly composed himself.

The car drove into the villa.

When Andrew got out, he thought Chloe was still upstairs, still upset.

As soon as he got out, he smelled a delicious aroma. He smiled, recognizing Adeline's cooking.

Just as he was thinking, a servant passed by with a plate of fish, cheerfully saying, "Andrew's back. Today, Chloe is learning to cook from Adeline, saying she wants to cook for you! She accidentally cut her hand, and Adeline was worried for a long time."

Andrew was slightly stunned.

He then handed the desserts to Gavin, gently saying, "Go find Natalie."

Gavin nodded.

Andrew walked towards the kitchen.

The villa's kitchen was spacious, and it was already dusk, with all the wall lights on.

In the midst of the cooking smoke, Chloe was close to Adeline, attentively learning to cook. Adeline spoke softly, and Chloe listened carefully.

Andrew walked over and gently took her hand.

Her delicate fingers were bandaged.

He felt a pang of heartache, his voice tinged with reproach, "Why didn't you rest more and decided to learn cooking?"
