Chapter 96: Mr. Mitchell's Daughter

Charlotte had a soft heart and didn't know how to comfort him.

Elijah looked at her, her face blending with the one in his memory. He shook his head, thinking he must be missing Victoria too much to see such a resemblance.

Being a public figure, he quickly adapted.

Elijah sighed, relieved that Frederick had finally found a girlfriend who seemed nice.

"Mr. Mitchell, you're only looking at Charlotte. Aren't you going to look at me?" Chloe teased playfully.

Elijah laughed. He gently hugged Chloe and teased back, "You already have a boyfriend. Why are you still clinging to me like when you were a kid?"

Chloe had grown up abroad and had even ridden on Mr. Mitchell's shoulders as a child. She was unrestrained around Elijah, like a daughter to him. Hearing Elijah's words, she pouted slightly. "Even if I get married, I won't forget you."

Elijah looked at her with affection.

If God allowed him to find his daughter, he hoped she would be as adorable as Chloe. He would give her everything, the best of everything.

Charlotte watched quietly.

She thought, Elijah must really like children.

He looked at Chloe as if she were his own child.

Elijah had come back to secretly look for his daughter. He needed Frederick's help, and Frederick would understand this implicitly. He told Charlotte to eat something first.

In the small reception room, Elijah couldn't contain his emotions and eagerly asked, "Frederick, any progress on what I asked you to look into?"

Frederick had checked carefully but found no news. He shook his head slightly.

Elijah felt disappointed. He carefully took out a thin necklace from his pocket, with a pink diamond attached to it.

Elijah murmured painfully, "This is what she wore back then. After so many years, I didn't expect to see it again."

Frederick took the necklace. He frowned slightly, feeling a familiar sensation. Frederick always felt like he had seen it somewhere, but he couldn't remember. Maybe it was on some client?

Frederick looked at it for a while and then returned it to Elijah. "Don't worry, Elijah, I'll keep looking."

Elijah patted his shoulder. "I have to consider my family's feelings, so I'm counting on you, Frederick."

Frederick's handsome brows twitched slightly. Because he thought about Elijah and Audrey's daughter.

Seeing his expression, Elijah didn't say anything more and instead chatted casually for a few moments.

Charlotte waited for half an hour, but Frederick still hadn't come out.

It was her first time at such an event, and she felt a bit bored, so she went to the terrace to get some fresh air. The banquet hall on the 68th floor offered a stunning night view.

Charlotte leaned on the railing. She had drunk a bit, and from the side, her eyes and brows exuded a gentle charm.

Ethan stood at the entrance of the terrace.

He thought mockingly, was she showing such an expression because she was thinking of Frederick?

Probably out of resentment, those hurtful words slipped out.

"Congrats on being Mr. Hawkins' so-called girlfriend! Wearing haute couture dresses and millions in jewelry, Charlotte, are you very happy now?"

Ethan said sarcastically, but what he really wanted to say was that he could give her these things, too.

But now, no matter what, he couldn't say those words.

The fierce night wind howled.

Charlotte slowly turned her head, looking very beautiful.

Ethan's heart suddenly ached.

Charlotte lowered her eyes and smiled faintly. "Ethan, what do you gain by mocking me? The pleasure of revenge? If so, then go ahead."

Ethan laughed.

Then a trace of ruthlessness appeared on his face. He walked closer to Charlotte, and when he was a step away, he sneered, "Have you forgotten so quickly? Can you accept another man and sleep with him so soon?"

He spoke crudely, and Charlotte's eyes turned slightly red.

Ethan seemed to have forgotten who wronged whom and who betrayed whom.

Indeed!

How could someone like him understand feelings?

How could someone like him know how much she once longed to be with someone for a lifetime?
