Chapter 656 Amara, Do You Still Love Me?

After Kingsley finished talking, Amara suddenly remembered they hadn't used any protection last night. And since she was in her fertile window, getting pregnant was a real possibility.

Did he do it on purpose?

Amara met his intense gaze, trying to figure out what he was thinking. Her back and waist were sore, so she decided to lie down for a bit.

Usually, the driver took Nicole to school, but today Kingsley did. After dropping Nicole off, he came back to the villa.

Amara was still in bed, leaning against the headboard, flipping through a fashion magazine with a relaxed look on her face—something Kingsley rarely saw.

He stood at the door for a moment before walking in slowly.

Amara put down the magazine and looked up at him. "Nicole told me. Thanks."

Kingsley sat beside her, gently running his fingers through her hair. "Not going to the office today?"

Amara was honest, "I want to take half a day off."

Kingsley leaned in and kissed her, whispering, "Amara, you might actually be pregnant from last night."

Instead of responding immediately, Amara rested her head gently on his lap. At that moment, she was only wearing one of his shirts. Her long hair spread over his lap, making her look lazy and relaxed. She said softly, "When you took Nicole to school, I thought about getting the morning-after pill, but I was too lazy to get up."

Amara knew that last night, Kingsley wanted more than just physical closeness; he wanted her affirmation, her feelings—basically, her love.

In fact, on the night Zachary tried to take Jesse away, Kingsley showed up, and Amara realized she still loved him. So, even if she got pregnant last night, she didn't mind. Saying she was too lazy to get the morning-after pill was just an excuse; she didn't want to take it.

Kingsley knew what she was thinking but didn't call her out on it. As he got older, he gained the wisdom to navigate around delicate matters, ensuring he never put Amara in an uncomfortable position.

He just asked, "When Billy got into trouble, why didn't you tell me and instead sell the house first? Amara, do you really think I'm that unreliable?"

Before Amara could answer, he continued, "But it's good that you sold it! Now you're homeless."

He kissed her. "Poor homeless girl!"

She gently pulled his fingers with hers and asked softly, "What do you plan to do about Billy?"

Kingsley glanced at her, his tone turning cold. "I'm not helping Billy for now! As long as he doesn't die! A guy like Billy, cheating on his wife and causing trouble, won't learn his lesson without some punishment. With Hailey and you backing him up, he'll keep doing these things, and Naomi will never have a good life. Billy's family will fall apart sooner or later!"

Amara nodded. "Let's see what Naomi thinks! If she wants to leave, I won't stop her."

Kingsley stared at her.

Amara said softly, "I just think Naomi has suffered too much! Sometimes, women don't marry for wealth; having three meals a day and a loving husband is enough. Naomi is that simple, but even that, Billy can't give her."

Kingsley suddenly asked her, "What about you? What do you want from marriage?"

Amara's heart skipped a beat. Discussing these matters was typically outside her comfort zone, but the intimacy of the moment emboldened her.

She moved closer, her cheek resting against the soft fabric of his shirt as she gently leaned on his shoulder. The warmth of his presence enveloped her, and she felt a sense of contentment she rarely experienced.

Kingsley's eyes softened, a tender expression crossing his face as he looked down at her.

Leaning against him, Amara softly said, "If I marry you, I want you to be happy when you're with me."

She didn't say "marry someone"; she said "marry you."

Kingsley held her slender shoulders, silent for a long time.

Amara turned and kissed the corner of his mouth, whispering, "You went to my office, didn't you?"

A blanket covered her face. Then he snorted, "I went to the company!"

Amara was silent.

Three days later, Billy was released, bruised and battered.

Billy cried and apologized in front of Hailey. Hailey didn't want to deal with him and said, "You should apologize to Naomi! If she doesn't want to forgive you, I won't say a word. You deserve it!"

Hailey was truly heartbroken and smacked him with her shoe. "You've really outdone yourself, causing such a big mess over a lover. If it weren't for Amara, would you have had Naomi and Nicole sleeping on the streets? Even though Amara is dating Kingsley, you can't drag her into this."

Billy hung his head, not daring to make a sound.

Hailey scolded him for a long time. When she got tired, she sat down and cried, not just out of anger at Billy but also feeling guilty towards Amara, who had to sell her house because of Billy.

When it was just the two of them, Billy looked at Naomi. She was packing her things into a small suitcase. When she finished, she said softly, "Now that you're back, I have no more worries. Tomorrow, when we have time, let's get a divorce."

Billy grabbed her suitcase, stunned.

Naomi controlled her emotions; she didn't want to look at Billy.

She said, "I used to think you were just a gambler. Later, I thought you had truly reformed and would be good to me and Nicole. But it turns out you had a lover outside. Billy, I'm an uneducated woman from the countryside, but I know right from wrong. We can't have a good life like this."

Billy knew he was wrong and begged desperately for her forgiveness, but he couldn't make Naomi stay.

Naomi was diligent and found a job at a factory. Every month, she took a large portion of her salary to give to Amara as living expenses for Nicole. However, she knew that this money was far from enough to cover what Amara spent on Nicole each month. Therefore, she could only work tirelessly, hoping to repay Amara's kindness.

When Amara received the first payment, she sat in her study for a long time, finding it difficult to handle the money.

Kingsley opened the door and came in. Seeing the envelope on the desk, he picked it up and looked inside. It was $1,200. He raised an eyebrow. "From Naomi?"

Amara glanced at him. "Yes."

Kingsley sat on the sofa, legs crossed, looking relaxed and pleasing to the eye. He smiled faintly. "Naomi made the right choice. Like Hailey, she's a diligent person who can find work anywhere. But if you give her a job that doesn't suit her, she'll feel uncomfortable."

Amara smiled lightly. "You always know everything."

Kingsley looked at her meaningfully. "How could I not know your thoughts?"

Amara put the envelope away in a drawer. "I'll save this money for Nicole. She'll need it in the future. Kingsley, you're right. I shouldn't take everything upon myself; it's not good."

Kingsley beckoned her over. Amara walked over, and he stretched out a leg, indicating for her to sit on it.

When Amara sat down, he retracted his leg, gently touching her face and saying softly, "So obedient! What reward do you want?"

But Amara asked about something else. "I heard Billy is driving a truck for the Hawkins Group's branch?"

Kingsley's expression shifted, a momentary flicker of annoyance at her pragmatism breaking the romantic spell. Without a word, he pinched her chin firmly, kissing her deeply.

When he finally stopped, his high nose lightly brushed against her. "He came to my company, crying and repenting. For your sake, I gave him a job to start over. Is that wrong?"

Amara said softly, "I just think you're paying too much attention to Billy! You're not usually like this."

Kingsley's breathing was slightly erratic. "I did all of this for you."

He had been on a business trip for three days and had just returned last night. Jesse had clung to him, so he couldn't make love to her. Now, with the kids all asleep, Kingsley naturally wouldn't miss this opportunity.

Kingsley picked Amara up, locked the study door, and intended to make love on the sofa.

The lights were too bright, and Amara wasn't used to it. She said softly, "Let's go to your room."

Kingsley kissed her red lips, his voice laced with impatience. "Tonight, I want to do it here."

Amara felt pressured and couldn't relax, but Kingsley always had ways to arouse her.

In the end, they both got into it.

In the heat of the moment, Kingsley's lips were close to her ear, his breath warm on her neck, his voice a bit breathless. "Amara, do you still love me?"
