Chapter 79 It was Awesome
Everyone snuffed out their cigarettes at the same time. The sight made Charlotte feel both embarrassed and annoyed.
She had never stopped Frederick from smoking. At home, he did it freely, sometimes even while leaning against the headboard, and when he felt like it, he'd press her for a kiss. He was so shameless!
But seeing all these important people trying to please Frederick, Charlotte couldn't help but feel a bit proud.
Frederick flashed a charming smile. "Ms. Russell, is this dignified enough?"
Charlotte knew that all the bad rumors would be squashed, and people would start clearing her name just to get on Frederick's good side. But none of that mattered anymore. All she cared about was Frederick.
Frederick put his arm around Charlotte and walked inside. The crowd had already cleared the way for them, leading them to the main seats. Several school leaders looked at Charlotte warmly. "Charlotte, you need to take good care of Mr. Hawkins."
Charlotte smiled faintly.
Then, hundreds of people at the banquet came over to toast. Frederick could drink, but he was picky about his drinking buddies. No one here was worth his respect, so he politely substituted water for wine and made small talk.
Charlotte, used to taking care of him, naturally served him food.
Lily, sitting across from her, no longer felt like mocking Charlotte. Instead, she had tears in her eyes. 'Silly girl! The rumors have finally been put to rest! Charlotte, you must be happy!'
From Frederick's attitude, Lily guessed that even if he didn't marry Charlotte, he'd still take good care of her.
The banquet hall was lively, but Tina stood at the entrance, still in shock. When she came to her senses, she felt very embarrassed. She had been intent on making Charlotte look bad, but in the end, she had humiliated herself. The expensive dress she had bought now seemed like a joke.
'Charlotte actually managed to attract Frederick! How could she? What did I lack compared to Charlotte?' Jealousy twisted Tina's face. She picked up a glass of red wine and walked over to Frederick and Charlotte.
She smiled and offered a toast to Frederick. "Mr. Hawkins, I'm Charlotte's college classmate. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Frederick was enjoying Charlotte's care when Tina approached. He looked up and immediately knew she was Ethan's mistress!
Frederick wiped his hands with a napkin slowly. The scion of a prominent family like him was different to commers; every finger looked like a work of art.
Frederick tossed the napkin aside and suddenly looked at Charlotte with a respectful demeanor. "Would you be upset if I talk to her?"
This question made Tina feel a bit awkward.
The people around them shared glances. Many knew about Tina and Ethan's private affairs because Ethan didn't hide it when he was with her, clearly not taking her seriously.
Charlotte knew Frederick's nasty temperament and didn't fall for it. "That's your freedom."
Frederick pinched her cheek, letting her off the hook.
Then, he stood up and politely said to Tina, "Miss Anderson, I'll accept this drink."
Everyone was quite surprised. Did Frederick have such poor taste?
Frederick kept his charming smile and then changed the subject. "But I drove here and will be taking Charlotte back later. Ethan, you brought a driver, right? You can drink this on my behalf with Miss Anderson."
