Chapter 503 Lola, Do You Hate Me?
Lola leaned back in her chair, giving Johnny a hard look.
"I'm really not into you, and I don't want to try! Johnny, do you think everyone's into you?"
Johnny felt a pang in his chest. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with him; after all, he was the one who walked away from Lola.
Back then, he left for abroad, not even 20 yet.
He got a taste of a different life overseas, and that freedom felt like what he wanted. He thought he could repay Frederick and Charlotte in any way, except by marrying Lola.
After a lot of thinking, he decided to let Lola go, even though they had a great thing going.
For a long time, Johnny barely thought about Lola, but whenever he traveled, had a good drink, or saw something at an auction she might like, she popped into his mind.
Over the years, he sent back a bunch of stuff, but Lola never replied.
He had no clue where all those things ended up.
Later, he dated a few girls and did well abroad. Johnny slowly started missing life in Syeattel, in that villa with Lola, Kingsley, and Sienna.
For those years, he didn't reach out to Lola, and he rarely came back. He almost forgot what Lola looked like.
When he finally returned, Lola treated him like just another childhood friend.
She even, right in front of him, would leave with other guys or, when she felt like it, sleep with them and do all the things lovers do.
Johnny felt a deep, unbearable pain.
He looked at Lola and softly asked, "Lola, do you hate me?"
Lola stared straight ahead.
After a while, she smiled, "I don't have the energy to hate anyone! Johnny, you were the one who said not to start anything. I just went along with your idea. What? Now that you've had your fun out there, you miss home and don't think it's a cage anymore?"
Lola felt a bit annoyed. She pulled out a pack of ladies' cigarettes from her purse.
She didn't smoke much, but when she was upset, she liked to light one up.
The slender cigarette burned between her beautiful fingers, and she smiled lightly again, "Why should I take you back? You saw it, the guy just now is four years younger than me."
"Lola!" Johnny's breath was ragged, and his voice was tight with emotion, "Stop talking!"
Lola smiled faintly, not saying anything more.
This was good; he'd give up sooner, and then they could go their separate ways.
Lola tilted her head back, closed her eyes slightly, took a puff of the cigarette between her fingers, and then got ready to put it out.
The cigarette was taken away.
Johnny suddenly kissed Lola, and she stared at him in shock. She pushed against his shoulder with her hand, slowly pushing him away, "What do you mean?"
Johnny looked into her eyes, "Is it just a physical thing with him, or do you really like him?"
Lola sneered, "Johnny, even if I sleep with him now, it's none of your business. Stop meddling in my affairs."
He refused to move, so she kicked his foot. "Drive, I want to go home and rest!"
Johnny didn't move. Not only did he not move, but he also grabbed her chin and quickly kissed her.
He was a good kisser, and Lola couldn't push him away, so she decided to just enjoy it.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, changing angles with him, tasting each other.
After the kiss, Johnny pressed his forehead against hers, breathing lightly.
He softly said, "Lola, let's start over."
Lola laughed. She pushed him away, slowly tidied her shirt, flicked her beautiful golden hair, and said with amusement, "Johnny, are you out of your mind?"
Johnny stared at her, "Are you serious with that guy?"
Lola said casually, "I told you, it's none of your business!" She added, "Nice kiss! But it's just a kiss, don't take it too seriously."
Feeling like talking to him was pointless, she opened the car door and got out.
Johnny grabbed her hand.
Lola looked at him calmly and said, "Johnny, the only reason I bother talking to you is out of respect for my parents. You don't think I have any special feelings for you, do you? There are plenty of men out there, so don't take yourself too seriously!"
He still wouldn't let her out of the car.
At that moment, someone came in front of the car with a big hammer.
They smashed a big dent in Johnny's Porsche, and the car immediately started wailing, attracting a lot of onlookers.
"You want to die!" Johnny cursed under his breath and got out of the car.
Lola saw that the person standing in front of the car was Darren Bailey.
Wearing a hat to cover his face, with a wound at the corner of his mouth, he held the hammer and smashed it down again.
Lola sighed softly.
She also got out of the car and grabbed Darren's hand before Johnny could, "Stop!"
Johnny looked up.
He watched Lola, also seeing her holding someone else's hand.
Lola wrote a check and threw it on the car hood, "I'll pay for it!"
Johnny didn't move; he just watched Lola. Earlier in the car, he asked Lola if she liked this man. Now, he knew that Lola had feelings for the man. After all, she protected him first.
Johnny sneered, "You like this kind of guy?"
Lola crossed her arms over her chest, "Yeah! At least he's devoted to me!"
Johnny stared at her, and suddenly took the check and tore it to pieces. As he opened the car door, he turned sideways, "Lola, are you coming home with me?"
Lola gestured for him to leave.
Johnny's face looked grim, but he still drove the broken car away.
Lola stood quietly for a while. Until the night wind made her whole body cold, she said to Darren, "Let's go, I'll take you home!"
Darren grabbed her hand. "Is he the one? Is it because of him that you won't really be with me?"
Lola smiled faintly, not answering his question.
She found the car keys in Darren's pocket, found his sports car, and got in, "Aren't you coming?"
Darren got in the car. He was probably angry with her, not talking much.
Lola's voice was low, "I told you we're not suitable. I don't want to be scolded by your fans. So let's break up."
Darren looked out the car window, ignoring her.
Lola freed one hand and patted his face, "Be good!"
Darren glanced at her, his eyes a bit red. After a while, he unbuckled his seatbelt and hugged Lola's waist, burying his head in her soft belly, and said in a low voice, "Stay with me tonight."
"Fine! But don't think I'll sleep with you."
Darren didn't say anything.
Lola focused on driving. Actually, she was Darren's lawyer. She met Darren four years ago.
They had a relationship, but later Lola felt they were not suitable for each other. She was very carefree, but Darren was fixated on her.
Anyway, she was still his lawyer and had to work for him. Moreover, Darren was quite endearing, and Lola was also quite fond of him.
She dropped him off at home and closed the car door.
The apartment door opened, and Darren pressed her, trying to kiss her. Lola blocked him.
"If you keep messing around, I'll leave!" Darren buried his face in her neck, his voice hoarse, "If he hadn't come back, and you met me tonight, you would definitely be willing to stay with me! Lola, you still love him, don't you?"
Lola patted his face, "What are you thinking?"
He didn't let go of her, so she kicked him directly, and Darren groaned.
Lola ignored him. She walked to the wine cabinet, poured herself a glass of red wine, and then sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, slowly drinking, looking very upset.
Darren knew that although she was here, her heart was with someone else.
He sat next to her, "You came to stay with me tonight just to make him misunderstand, so he won't bother you anymore?"
"Ridiculous!" Lola drank half a glass of red wine and sighed, "You wouldn't understand."
Their relationship was complicated, but since neither of them had anyone else, they didn't have to explain anything to anyone, especially not to Johnny.
She wanted to drink, so Darren went to the kitchen and made her a meal. He also opened a bottle of the best wine.
Lola looked at his face and couldn't help but pinch it, "Guess all that effort paid off!"
She habitually wanted to kiss him. But in the end, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
Darren smiled faintly, seemingly mocking her. Lola shrugged, "I was kissed by Johnny in the car just now. You don't want to kiss him indirectly, do you?"
Darren gritted his teeth, "You really know how to piss me off!"
He suddenly pressed the back of her head and kissed her. Lola blocked his advance, "You may not mind, but I do! Alright, let's eat!"
Darren was quite dissatisfied, wishing he could kill Johnny immediately.
Without Johnny, he could cling to Lola for a lifetime. Maybe she wouldn't marry him, but she wouldn't like anyone else either, and that would be enough.
He didn't care about being a celebrity.
Since he was 20, he had only liked Lola.
After dinner, Lola slept in the guest room for the night and went home at dawn.
Darren was awake but didn't get up.
Lola didn't like being tied down. He clung to her but knew his limits. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to stay by her side for four years.
Lola took a cab home.
It was just dawn, and the housemaids were already up and working. When they saw her, they called out, "Lola."
"Keep it down! Don't let my dad hear!" Lola tiptoed to the door, took off her shoes, and sneaked in.
But after just two steps, a voice sounded. "Back already?" It was Johnny's voice.
Lola threw her shoes on the ground, put them on, and looked towards the sofa.
Johnny was sitting there. Even without the lights on, it was clear he looked a bit haggard. There were several empty wine bottles in front of him, lying around.
Lola crossed her arms, "You're up early!"
Johnny's face was cold, "Can't compare to you!"
Lola got herself a cup of coffee, drinking while mocking him. "I'm familiar with Syeattel! Unlike you, who can't even find a place to drink! If that's the case, bring a girlfriend back, so you don't have to mock others!"
Johnny looked at her.
Lola comfortably sat across from him, her legs, now free of stockings, resting on the table.
Johnny looked at her legs, "What, so intense that your stockings got torn?"
"Yeah! You're almost 30, you can't understand the stamina of a 24-year-old!"
Johnny clenched his fist, "Is he that good?"
Lola blinked lightly, "You only know if you try!"
Johnny was so angry he didn't want to talk to her. He got up and went upstairs, but halfway up, he was blocked by Gavin, who had stayed over to watch the drama.
Sure enough, it was quite a show early in the morning.
He knew that to deal with Johnny, it had to be Lola!
Gavin pretended not to know, smiling, "You guys are up early?"
Johnny bumped his shoulder and went upstairs.
Gavin, wearing a thick white bathrobe, slowly came downstairs. Lola stretched out her leg, "Massage me! Busy all night, I'm exhausted!"
Gavin, always close to her, massaged her and then asked, "What are you planning?"
He nodded towards upstairs, "He's back. Are you trying to drive him away?"
Lola tapped him. She smiled faintly, "You're overthinking! It's not every day you see a broken relationship that can be fixed."
Gavin also smiled lightly, saying nothing.
Upstairs, Johnny stood there.
His long fingers gripped the railing so hard that his knuckles turned white. He heard what Lola said.
Johnny couldn't describe how he felt. Back in his room, he leaned his head against the door. He thought he should immediately return to Kyro. This way, they were still able to be as polite and friendly as before, like family. They still supported each other in times of difficulty, but they were no longer lovers.
Lola had done it. After he said to break up, she never tried to win him back.
He knew her well. There was a time when Lola waited for him to regret and come back, because his home was here. She always thought he would return. But he didn't. All these years, he never came back.
She gave up on him, as expected.
Now, what right did he have to feel hurt?
Packing up and returning to Kyro was the right choice.
But as Johnny packed his passport, he felt an unbearable pain. He had experienced all kinds of hardships since he was a child. He watched his mother jump off a building in front of him, and that fear was still buried in his heart.
He was used to suppressing his feelings.
Lola was a ray of light in his life, illuminating him. But it was too bright, and he found it glaring, uncomfortable.
He chose to block the light.
Now, he missed that light, but Lola no longer wanted to shine on him.
Johnny gently covered his chest, feeling the pain.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
