Chapter 48 Call Charlotte in Front of Ethan

Ethan's heart skipped a beat. He thought, 'It must have been picked up at the club.'

So, he brushed it off with a smile. "I went to the hospital early to change the dressing; maybe it was from the nurse."

Chloe was displeased, fiddling with her nails and throwing a little tantrum. "That nurse must be young and pretty! You must have been very happy when she helped you change the dressing."

Ethan chuckled. He pinched her cheek. "You're jealous of that too?"

Chloe loved him deeply and wasn't really suspicious. With a little coaxing, she left it go and leaned on his shoulder with a sweet smile.

Patrick said, "You need to be more reserved!"

How could parents not know their children? Frederick had warned that Chloe was too naive and would be easily manipulated by Ethan. But Patrick thought that since his daughter was naive, finding someone like Ethan who could plan ahead was actually a good thing.

Ethan passed the test easily and smiled slightly.

At that moment, Laura came over with a smile and said, "Frederick isn't coming back, so let's eat first. The servants have already prepared the dishes."

Chloe pulled Ethan up and affectionately linked her arm with his.

Patrick and Laura exchanged a smile.

The atmosphere in the dining room was pleasant. Ethan was good at conversation and was well-liked by the Hawkins family.

After dinner, Chloe took him to the second floor into her bedroom.

With the door closed, she initiated a kiss, wanting to be intimate with him.

But Ethan was injured, and he had already been with someone else this morning, so he didn't have the energy. Besides, he wasn't in the mood, so he brushed her off with a few kisses.

In a hoarse voice, he teased her, "Wait a few more days, okay?"

Chloe blushed. She hugged his waist, inhaling his scent. "I really want you to take a shower and wash off the perfume. Since it was from the nurse, I won't mind."

Ethan's eyes darkened.

They took a nap together.

The sound of a car came from downstairs; Frederick must have returned. Ethan gently moved Chloe's hand away and walked to the balcony to look.

Sure enough, it was Frederick.

It was hot outside, and he had taken off his jacket, wearing just a dark blue shirt and dress pants. He was talking on his phone, standing right below Ethan. "I went home first. I'll pick you up around five! Pack your luggage first."

Ethan tensed up; he knew Frederick was talking to Charlotte. 'Charlotte was going to move in with Frederick?'

At that moment, Frederick suddenly looked up and saw Ethan. The two men locked eyes.

Frederick chuckled softly. He spoke gently into the phone, "It's nothing. I just saw someone I know! I'll hang up now. Anything you can't bring, you can buy on the way."

With that, he hung up the phone.

Ethan's face was extremely grim!

Just then, Chloe woke up, too. She walked over and hugged his waist, wanting a kiss, but Ethan wasn't in the mood. "Frederick is back. Let's go downstairs."

No matter how naive Chloe was, she sensed his coldness towards her and felt a bit disappointed.

Ethan coaxed her a bit. By the time they went downstairs, Chloe was happy again.

Frederick was sitting on the couch reading a magazine, and Chloe threw herself into his arms. "Frederick."

Pinching her cheek, Frederick teased, "You're all grown up and still clingy. Ethan might get jealous."

"He won't." Chloe clung to his arm, acting spoiled. "Frederick, you mentioned you had a few projects that it's better to give them to family than to outsiders."

Glancing at Ethan, Frederick smiled knowingly. "Dad was right about you supporting Ethan."

"Frederick." Chloe pouted again.
