Chapter 747 Couples Fight at the Head of the Bed and Make up at the Foot?
Lola was unsure.
She knew Johnny was serious about wanting to start over with her, and she believed there wouldn't be another Shirley. But she also knew that when she had those intimate videos of him and Shirley burned into her memory, she had no intention of staying with him.
Before she could say anything, Cindy walked over from the master bedroom.
Seeing her employer in the hallway, Cindy blushed. "Mr. Flores, the crib is set up! Could you check if the placement is okay, and we can adjust it if needed?"
Johnny, used to handling all sorts of situations, didn't seem embarrassed. He just cleared his throat and said calmly, "Got it."
Cindy, realizing she had interrupted something, quickly added, "I'll head downstairs now."
Cindy left.
Johnny still held onto Lola, who pushed against his waist. "Are you going to wait until Cindy sees us before you let me go?"
Her voice was unusually soft, and Johnny was reluctant to release her. He gently rubbed his nose against hers, his voice even huskier. "She's watching Stella; she won't come over! Lola..."
He didn't finish his sentence, but having been married, Lola understood what he wanted to say and do with just a look.
Besides, his prominent nose kept rubbing against hers.
Lola lowered her eyes. "Don't forget I'm still recovering."
Johnny spoke with a hint of rasp in his voice. "I haven't forgotten. Lola, don't be afraid of me. I won't force you to do anything you don't like."
Lola just gave a faint smile.
As she was about to head to the bedroom, footsteps echoed from the stairs, somewhat chaotic.
It was Angelina and Austin, followed by Bobby.
Bobby rushed over, wagging his tail furiously as he saw Johnny and Lola embracing, with a clear, silly innocence in his eyes.
Angelina and Austin, a bit slow to catch on, also saw Johnny and Lola hugging.
At that moment, Bobby barked at Johnny.
In front of the kids, Johnny naturally had to be more mindful. He released Lola and whispered in her ear, "I wonder who's been taking care of him for so long; he seems to like you more."
Lola knew Johnny's ways.
She didn't respond much but didn't give him the cold shoulder in front of the kids either. She waved, and Angelina and Austin ran over, asking, "Can we see Stella?"
Lola patted their heads. "Let's go see her together."
Angelina ran ahead, very fast, but when she pushed open the master bedroom door, she did it carefully. Austin was more reserved, but his tense little face was slightly red, clearly showing his fondness for Stella.
When Lola entered, the two kids were leaning over the crib, carefully watching Stella.
Bobby was also peering with his eyes.
Bobby called out a few times softly, but no one translated for him.
Angelina whispered, "She's so cute! But she has very little hair, even less than Austin did when he was a baby, just a few strands."
Austin's face turned red. "I don't want to be compared to Stella."
Though his words were cold, he still wanted to kiss and touch Stella. He said he had washed his hands and brushed his teeth, and after Lola agreed, he kissed Stella's little face, inhaling her unique baby scent. Austin really liked it.
Stella smelled so sweet!
Angelina, too, propped her head up, staring intently, hoping Stella would grow up quickly but also fearing she might grow too fast and not be as fun.
Lola watched them, feeling a mix of emotions inside.
In fact, when she first got pregnant, she didn't have much attachment.
Her condition meant she had no choice but to give birth, but during pregnancy, women easily developed feelings for the little fetus. Even though her relationship with Johnny was torn apart, the child in her belly had half her genes. How could she hate her own child?
Now, seeing how much Angelina and Austin liked Stella, Lola's eyes grew moist.
Johnny gently hugged her shoulders, softly comforting her. "The kids are so happy. Why are you crying?"
"I'm not crying," Lola choked out.
Johnny gave a faint smile.
Cindy, wiping her own tears, watched the scene. She wondered if Johnny and Lola were finally reconciling. They say couples fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot. Now that Lola had given birth, did it mean she had forgiven Johnny?
Lola could guess what Cindy was thinking.
But she didn't refute it.
She and Johnny needed time to work things out. She couldn't tell all the staff that they were only temporarily together and that she planned to leave after 60 days.
So, when Cindy was unpacking her luggage and hanging her clothes in the closet, Lola didn't stop her.
After dinner, when the kids were asleep, Lola finished feeding Stella and felt a bit sticky. She grabbed a robe, intending to take a shower.
Her hand was caught and Johnny said in a hoarse and rough voice, "Let me help you."
