Chapter 98: There Aren't Many People Who Can Make Frederick Angry

Facing that bright, charming little face, Charlotte just couldn't dislike her.

But Charlotte knew her fondness for Frederick played a big part in her tolerance for Chloe.

This thought made her feel a bit ashamed.

She glanced at Frederick.

Frederick caught her look and felt a twinge of anger.

What, did she really want to hang out with Ethan that much? Even bring him home?

Frederick eyed Ethan.

Ethan, sensing the tension, smirked and asked, "Are we being too much of a bother?"

Frederick sneered and wrapped an arm around Charlotte's waist. "Of course not!"

Charlotte was surprised he agreed. When they were alone, she softly asked, "Are you sure?"

Frederick stared at her for a long moment and said slowly, "I thought you were quite welcoming. Weren't you having a good chat just now?"

Charlotte figured he misunderstood and didn't explain.

He knew all about her past with Ethan. If running into Ethan made Frederick uncomfortable, there wasn't much she could do.

But she felt a bit wronged, her eyes slightly red.

Elijah noticed and walked over with a smile. "Did you guys have a spat? Frederick, come on, man up and cut Charlotte some slack. At home, she's the apple of her parents' eyes. No need for her to feel wronged here!"

He patted Frederick. "Keep your cool."

Frederick respected him and nodded.

Elijah had other guests to entertain, but before leaving, he said to Charlotte, "There aren't many people who can make Frederick angry!"

Charlotte, hurt by Ethan before, didn't care about these things anymore.

She just smiled faintly.

Elijah appreciated that; Charlotte had spirit!

He liked her and gave her two VIP concert tickets. "Come if you have time."

Charlotte felt flattered, thanked him softly, and her earlier unhappiness vanished.

On the way back, as soon as they got in the car, Frederick gripped the steering wheel, glanced at her joyful expression, and asked in a slightly hoarse voice, "Are you this happy?"

Charlotte showed him the two concert tickets.

"Mr. Mitchell gave you these?" Frederick was surprised. Elijah usually didn't socialize much, but he seemed to really like Charlotte today.

Not only had he spoken up for her, but he had also given her tickets.

Charlotte knew Frederick was still upset about Ethan, so she tried to please him. When the light turned red, she rested her chin on his shoulder and softly asked, "Will you go with me?"

Frederick turned, his eyes deep.

"Do you want me to go with you?"

Seeing his demeanor soften, Charlotte tenderly embraced his arm. "Who else can I ask besides you? Tell me, Frederick."

Her voice was soft and charming, with a hint of cleverness.

Frederick's Adam's apple bobbed.

He regretted it. Right now, he didn't want to be at odds with Ethan; he just wanted to be with Charlotte.

The light turned green.

Frederick started the car and turned on the stereo, playing a romantic song.

He occasionally held her hand lightly.

Charlotte guessed he had calmed down and softened too. She leaned against the leather seat, watching his handsome profile, her face slightly flushed.

After all, she was young. A man being jealous for her and willing to make the first move to reconcile made her somewhat hopeful, thinking they might actually end up together.
