Chapter 410 She Wanted to Give Andrew a Surprise

Charlotte hopped into Frederick's ride.

She yanked off her scarf and murmured, "Bradley's pretty understanding, huh?"

Frederick hit the gas.

Gripping the wheel, eyes on the road, he chuckled. "What, you think I'm a green-eyed monster or something?"

Charlotte leaned back, her voice soft. "No way! You're the most generous!"

After a bit, Frederick broke the silence. "This is the last time, Charlotte. It's not like I'm not pissed."

Charlotte's heart melted a little.

At the red light, she gently stroked his arm and whispered, "I only love you!"

Frederick glanced at her. He grinned. "Look!"

Charlotte looked ahead.

Frederick's fingers drummed on the wheel, his voice low and shaky. "Remember that golf course up ahead? We used to hang there. There's a swanky hotel at the bottom of the hill!"

Charlotte blushed.

How could she forget? She almost had sex for the first time with him there.

Frederick's voice got even huskier. "After the baby comes, let's hit that place up again."

Charlotte thought he was being cheeky.

But hey, a hubby being all into his wife's body? That’s a win. Her cheeks turned a bit red, which was basically a yes.

Around noon, Charlotte grabbed lunch and took a nap at the office.

After a prenatal checkup, they found out the baby was doing great and confirmed it was a girl.

"Six months now!" Charlotte gently stroked her belly.

Her face was glowing with that mom-to-be vibe.

Just then, Frederick's phone buzzed, and he glanced at it.

It was Chloe calling.

"Can you get that for me?" He was driving, so he asked Charlotte to pick up.

Charlotte answered. "Chloe!"

Chloe sounded super excited. "Charlotte! I need Frederick to hook me up with a private jet!"

Charlotte guessed. "To Copenhegan? Does Andrew know?"

Chloe always liked to act spoiled with her.

She said, "His project’s launching soon! I wanna take Gavin and surprise him!"

Charlotte smiled and agreed.

"Charlotte, you're the best!" Chloe hung up, all happy.

Charlotte put the phone back in the glove compartment and filled Frederick in. He smiled. "She just got back and already wants to jet off again!"

Charlotte disagreed.

She said softly, "They've been apart for years; it's tough."

Frederick didn't say more. He felt bad for Chloe too.

Chloe, all excited, started packing.

She'd be gone for like two days, so a small suitcase was enough.

And she was taking Gavin along.

She wrapped up her work by night. Lying on her apartment bed, she called Andrew.

With the launch coming up, he was super busy.

She could only catch him late at night. "Are you tired, Andrew?"

Andrew had just gotten back and was unbuttoning his shirt and belt to shower when Chloe called.

He pulled off his belt with one hand. "Good thing you're not here, or I'll be tired!"

Chloe blushed, catching his drift but playing dumb.

After a bit, she asked about the launch.

Andrew washed his face with one hand and said softly, "I wanted to invite you, but it's gonna be crazy busy, and I was worried I couldn't take care of you."

Chloe felt a bit bummed.

This was a huge moment for Andrew, and she wanted to be there for him.

He didn't invite her.

But she figured if she showed up on her own, she wouldn't be a bother, and he'd be stoked to see her.

Chloe, with her simple mind, convinced herself and felt better.

They had been apart for half a month, so naturally, there were some sweet words.

She cared for Andrew and didn't dare to talk too long, so she hung up, letting him rest more.

On the other end, Andrew put down his phone, his expression slightly restrained.

He thought, 'It's better if Chloe doesn't come. If she sees, she'll definitely overthink!'

Chloe was busy with work, and on the night of Andrew's project's launch, she arrived in Copenhegan.

The Hawkins family had connections, so she got into the site without going through Andrew, though the viewing area wasn't central.

At night, the place was brightly lit.

The firelight reflected on Gavin's little face, making him especially excited.

He looked up and said in a soft voice, "Mommy! We can see the big rocket and Daddy, right?"

Chloe picked him up so he could see further.

Gavin hugged her neck tightly.

Around them, the crowd surged.

After a long wait, a massive white object ignited, making a thunderous sound that echoed through the sky as it soared amidst white smoke.

"The rocket was successfully launched!"

Everyone held their breath, experiencing the joy.

After countless days and nights in the past four years, they finally succeed.

Chloe watched the rocket ascend, her eyes misting over. She knew this was Andrew's hard work.

She was happy for him.

At this moment, she wanted to say, "congratulations!"

She came from a privileged background and had never felt so moved, unrelated to love.

She kissed her son in her arms. "Let's go find Daddy!"

In a less crowded area, she called Andrew, but he didn't answer.

Chloe thought he must be very busy, so she called Nathan instead.

Nathan answered, his voice loud. "Chloe, are you calling for Mr. Devereux?"

Chloe responded with a yes.

She said, "I'm at the launch site! Where's Andrew? I want to find him now!"

Nathan was clearly taken aback.

After a moment, he lowered his voice. "Mr. Devereux is busy! How about this? I'll send a car to take you and Gavin to the Devereux Mansion, and Mr. Devereux will join you after he's done."

Chloe didn't think much of it.

She just wanted to see Andrew now, but the phone signal was bad, and the call dropped.

She simply asked the staff.

It was easy to find the place.

Gavin, worried about his mom getting tired, slid down and held her hand, very happy.

Chloe felt he had grown up!

All the way to the front of the viewing platform, she had a smile on her face, but when she looked up at the man she loved deeply, she froze.

Andrew was there. But he wasn't alone.

He was holding a very pretty little girl, looking quite affectionate, with a familiar figure standing beside him. If it were someone else, Chloe might not have thought much of it.

But that person was Celeste!

At this moment, he was holding the little girl, who was kissing his face.

And he was looking up at the night sky, talking softly to Celeste beside him, with an indescribable tenderness in his eyes.

Chloe had been entangled with him for years.

She had felt heartbroken and desperate before.

But never had she felt more uncomfortable than at this moment!

That child must be Celeste's!

Andrew holding her, standing with his former lover, looked like a family of three. At such an important moment, he chose to stand with Celeste.

Wasn't Celeste transferred to Lumina Bay City?

Chloe forgot to speak and didn't question. Tears rolled down her cheeks, and Gavin saw it too.

He tightened his little face but softly said to his mom, "Mommy, don't cry!"

At that moment, Andrew looked down at the crowd.

He saw Chloe.

She was crying.
