Chapter 839 She Sold Her Own Feelings!

Grant thought for a moment and then softly replied, "I suppose so."

Nancy was stunned.

The answer wasn't hard to guess. If they hadn't been physically involved, Jade wouldn't have been driven to the point of jumping off a building.

Jade liked Grant, and it wasn't just for his money.

This fact made Nancy feel even more disgusted.

She had married Grant, she was the rightful "Mrs. McCall", but in reality, while she was unaware, Grant had almost become someone else's husband. The irony was that she was only finding out now.

Before, she had thought they were pure.

How laughable.

Moreover, Grant had hidden from her the things he did for her father. It made her feel even more repulsed. Only men would empathize with other men like that!

In just two days, Nancy's worldview had been shattered repeatedly.

She felt weak all over, barely managing to hold onto the sink to keep from collapsing.

Grant tried to support her.

Nancy refused his help, gripping the sink tightly. She looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes red and her face slightly swollen.

Did she look anything like a bride?

She could hardly remember what it felt like to love Grant. All she could recall was the shock and confusion on his face after Jade jumped...

She knew he wasn't that kind of heartless man.

He acted that way, he kept Jade around, because his heart was dead.

He didn't love her, and he wasn't prepared to love her, which was why Jade appeared.

After a long pause, Nancy looked at Grant in the mirror and said softly, "Don't worry, I'll handle this PR crisis for you, but we need to sign a postnuptial agreement first."

Nancy's voice was soft and alluring.

But it sounded so sad!

She continued, "Grant, life is long. Sometimes couples who sleep in the same bed for a lifetime never know what the other is thinking or doing, like my parents... So, I choose to protect myself and my child."

Grant noticed her wording.

She said, her child.

On the second day of their marriage, their relationship had already come to this, but Grant didn't say anything. He agreed... He said he would sign the contract.

Maybe it was because he had no other family left.

He didn't love Nancy, but the child she was carrying was his, his only family.

So he agreed easily.

In the car on the way to the company, they didn't speak. Both were lost in their own thoughts.

Thinking about the people they loved or hated...

When the car stopped in front of Granatal Nexus Technologies Group, just as they were about to get out, Nancy suddenly spoke, "Actually, the name Granatal Nexus Technologies Group is a combination of Grant and Natalie, right?"

"When you founded this company, you were thinking of her, weren't you? Grant, if you love her so much, you can keep her in your heart forever. I really don't mind! But... you destroyed my love for you in such a way."

When her love became worthless, she used it to secure a future for the child in her womb.

Nancy transitioned from a romantic to a realist in just two days.

Grant didn't deny it.

He softly apologized, and Nancy's eyes felt hot, but she didn't cry... What was there to cry about?

Soon, the child in her womb would inherit 51% of the shares, worth hundreds of billions of dollars. As a mother, she would have no more worries.

This was the dream of many people.

But it wasn't Nancy's dream. She felt pathetic.

They arrived at the conference room. The lawyer was already there, having prepared the documents as Grant instructed.

To Nancy's surprise, the inheritance of Granatal Nexus Technologies Group... to put it bluntly, Grant's will was divided into three parts.

Their child would get 51%.

Haven, Natalie's child, would get 30%.

The remaining 19% was left to Nancy, his legal wife.

Nancy watched quietly.

She knew this was Grant's way of compensating her because he couldn't love her, because of what happened on their wedding day, and because he would likely be entangled with Jade in the future.

So, this was compensation.

Nancy didn't refuse. But as she signed, her eyes felt hot. She knew what she was signing. She knew she was selling her feelings and her marriage.

When she finished signing, her slender fingers trembled slightly.

Grant watched her quietly.

Her profile was gentle, reminding him of the Fireworks Festival when he took her home and they had sex...

Later, when he angered her and she went back to her own home, he chased her to the Walsh Mansion to apply medicine to her.

Back then, their relationship was good.

Back then, Nancy was adorable.

When a woman is loved, she always has this adorable glow... Her whole being exudes a comforting softness.

Grant wanted to hold her hand.

But the door opened, and the PR manager walked in. She approached Grant and spoke softly, "Mr. McCall, the press conference is about to start. You and Mrs. McCall should get ready."

She gave Nancy an apologetic smile, "Mrs. McCall, we really need your help this time!"

Nancy forced a smile.

Handling a crisis for a cheating husband, no woman could smile genuinely in such a situation!

Grant stared deeply at her face.

He said, "Let's go."

They walked side by side, looking very much like a couple united to protect their assets, but they had only been married yesterday, and Nancy was already pregnant. This was too cruel for her.

They entered a large conference room.

Hundreds of media outlets from Seattle had gathered, eager to cover this major news story.

Cameras were aimed at the couple, especially Nancy, capturing every nuance of her expression.

If she showed even the slightest hint of dissatisfaction with Grant, the reporters would immediately seize the opportunity to write a sensational story.

Grant, seasoned in the business world, was flawless. He openly explained his relationship with Jade, clarifying that it was a pre-marital affair.

And that there would be no such women in his and Nancy's marriage now or in the future. He and Nancy were expecting a lovely child, and they would provide a warm home for the child.

Nancy listened in a daze.

When Grant finished, he squeezed her hand, speaking tenderly, "I'm sorry for involving you in my past. From now on, I'll be a good husband and father."

Countless flashes lit up Nancy's face.

One wrong word from her, and Grant's reputation would be ruined... But they were now bound together by fate. They were legally married, and she had just signed that agreement.

Nancy heard her own mechanical voice, "I believe in my husband. He has a strong moral compass and would never betray his wife, nor would he have an affair with Ms. Harper while we were dating."

"Ms. Harper's accusations have caused significant harm to our family and relationship, but out of humanitarian concern, my husband and I will cover all of Ms. Harper's medical expenses and future living costs."

She added, "Marriage is not easy. I will cherish this hard-won happiness."

The room erupted in applause, praising Nancy's magnanimity and envying Grant for marrying such a good wife.

At the same time, they condemned Jade.

The desired effect seemed to have been achieved... but Nancy felt disgusted. She felt disgusted by Grant, by herself.

Clearly, it was the fault of both Grant and Jade, yet only the person lying in the hospital was being blamed.

And Nancy had finally become someone she herself despised.

The reporters dispersed.

The PR department of Granatal Nexus Technologies Group, after a tense day and night, was finally relieved.

The stock market stabilized.

The company was celebrating, and Grant went to reward his employees.

Only Nancy... she stood in the lobby, watching Grant accept congratulations, seeing him laugh and chat.

He seemed like a stranger to her, and she felt sorry for Jade.

When they liked him, they only saw Grant's charming exterior and his hidden depth of affection. But he had long given his heart to Natalie, and when it came to others, he could be ruthless.

Now, she understood that Jade meant nothing to him.

In the bustling banquet hall, the couple was united in appearance but divided in reality.

Their gazes met, but they felt like strangers.

Around noon, Grant took Nancy away. By then, the public opinion had shifted, and there were no more reporters blocking their way.

Grant was in a good mood. He turned to Nancy and said, "Everything's taken care of. You don't need to worry anymore."

Nancy forced a smile.

Just as she was about to get into the car, a woman's voice rang out, "You shameless bastard! You ruined my daughter's life, making her a target of public scorn. You capitalists are so evil. When you were with Grant, he was still involved with my daughter. I'll kill you, you shameless bastard!"

Seven or eight eggs were hurled at Nancy.

Grant used his arm to shield her.

But two or three eggs still hit Nancy's face... The yellow and white mess wasn't too dirty, but it made her look pitiful and wretched.

Nancy had never felt so humiliated in her life.

She stood there quietly, watching as security restrained the woman, saying they would call the police.

Grant wiped the mess off her face.

He seemed very considerate.

Nancy looked up at him, ignoring the egg whites on her face, and asked softly, "She's Jade's mother, isn't she?"
