Chapter 818 Clayton, Don't Come Again!

Over the next month, Natalie went on several more blind dates. Some were set up by her mother, others by Charlotte.

The men were all decent, but there was always something missing.

She thought her chapter with Clayton was over.

But clearly, Clayton didn't think so.

He somehow found out her schedule, and every time she went on a date, he would show up. He didn't interrupt like last time; he just waited outside.

The autumn rain was relentless.

When Natalie left the restaurant, it was almost 9:30 PM.

She hadn't driven, so her date offered to give her a ride.

Since they had known each other since childhood, Natalie didn't refuse, even if the date didn't go well. Their families had business ties, after all.

The atmosphere in the car was fine.

But neither of them said much.

Half an hour later, they arrived at her villa.

The man got out to open the back door for Natalie, smiling slightly as a farewell.

Natalie smiled back.

As she stepped out, her gaze froze. She saw Clayton's car.

Turning around, she saw Clayton standing at the villa's entrance.

He held an umbrella, walking towards her.

Her date was stunned, looking at Natalie in surprise.

Natalie forced a smile, trying to stay composed. "My ex-husband."

The man nodded in understanding, then handed the umbrella to Natalie before getting back in his car and driving away.

The black car slowly drove off.

The autumn rain continued to fall.

Natalie's dress was getting soaked.

She had dressed up nicely for the dinner, wearing a long dress with a wool shawl.

It was cold outside, but she didn't move. She waited until Clayton was right in front of her.

When he was about three feet away, Natalie spoke softly.

"Can you let me go? Clayton, can you let me go?"

"You've been gone for a month, Clayton. Can you let me go? We don't have to be together."

"Without each other, we might be better off! I can find someone to settle down with, and you can go back abroad, without having to care for anyone."

Her tone grew more agitated, losing her usual calm.

How could she stay calm? This man was once her husband... he said he loved her.

Tears welled up in Natalie's eyes, but she held them back.

She tried to walk past him, but he grabbed her slender arm.

Clayton finally spoke, his voice hoarse. "Do you like tonight's guy?"

Natalie didn't tell the truth.

She tilted her head slightly, saying something she didn't mean. "Yes! I like him a lot! We might start dating!"

"Don't come here anymore, it's not good for others to see. And don't let Haven call you daddy anymore."

With that, she walked into the villa, holding the umbrella.

The rain kept falling.

One inside, one outside...

Natalie thought, if it weren't for that accident, they might be happy now. But it happened, and there's no going back.

The dining table was full of food.

Clayton had made it for her.

It wasn't the weekend, but he had come to see Haven and made her a meal... it should have been touching, but what did it matter?

A late apology was better left unsaid.

Natalie didn't eat any of it.

As she went upstairs, she shook the water off her dress, and a servant couldn't help but advise, "Ms. Devereux, Mr. Percy..."

Natalie replied indifferently, "Throw all this food away! And don't let him come over anymore."

The servant felt it was a pity.

Clayton didn't leave immediately. He sat in his car, smoking... looking up, he saw the lights on the second floor.

But not a single ray of light shone on him.

The servant came out with an umbrella, hesitantly conveying Natalie's message.

Finally, she said softly, "Mr. Percy, please don't make things difficult for us. Ms. Devereux treats us very well and pays us generously."

Clayton understood.

He didn't say anything, just nodded slightly, finished his cigarette, and drove away from the villa.

In the master bedroom on the second floor.

Haven was still awake. Clayton had brought her a rocking horse, and she was happily rocking on it.

A servant was with her.

Natalie walked in, and Haven joyfully called out, "Mommy," but didn't want to get off the horse.

Natalie took off her shawl.

She knelt beside Haven, gently touching the wooden texture, smiling slightly. "Did Mr. Percy give this to you?"

Haven happily said, "Yes."

Her little shoes tapped as she continued rocking. She loved it.

The rocking horse had holes with various beautiful shells strung through them, and Clayton had smoothed the edges to prevent Haven from getting hurt.

It was indeed beautiful and thoughtful.

Natalie patted Haven's head.

Haven felt happy and asked Natalie, "Will Mr. Percy come tomorrow?"

Natalie felt sad. Haven was still young; she couldn't explain her complicated relationship with Clayton.

She could only tell her, "Mr. Percy has to go on a business trip, so he might not come for a while."

Haven sighed softly.

She felt it was a pity. She had just told the servant that she wanted to make a big cake for Christmas and invite Clayton to eat it.

Because Clayton could make turkey legs.

Thinking about it made Haven drool...

After Haven fell asleep, Natalie took a bath and relaxed by drawing comics. Max quietly came over, lying at her feet.

Natalie suddenly remembered, this was Clayton's dog, and he hadn't taken it with him.

Max seemed to have gotten used to living here.

It treated Natalie as its owner.

Max comfortably licked its paws, looking at Natalie. Natalie reached out to pet its head.

Christmas came and went quietly.

Nothing special happened.

Clayton hadn't come for a while, and slowly, Haven seemed to forget about him, no longer thinking about him every day... Natalie was truly relieved.

She considered buying a villa near Gavin's house.

Maybe a big family life would be better for Haven.

After the New Year, Natalie's comic "Three Little Bears" was signed by an international company for full development.

Natalie didn't ask for a copyright fee, but she did ask for a 20% share.

Other business was also going well.

Her career wasn't huge, but it was doing quite well.

On January 3rd, Natalie's company had a team-building event.

Although her assistant organized everything, Natalie was still exhausted by the end of the day.

Late at night, she left the hotel.

She held her head as she got into the car, softly telling the driver, "Take me home!"

She thought, by the time she got home, the alcohol would have worn off.

If Haven was still awake, she could tell her a story to help her sleep.

Thinking of Haven, Natalie's face relaxed into a gentle smile.

In the driver's seat, Clayton sat, gripping the steering wheel.

His fingers tightened slightly.

He could see Natalie in the rearview mirror, seeing her relaxed smile... he hadn't seen her like this in a long time.

Since he came back, she was always cold and prickly around him.

He missed this version of Natalie.

Clayton didn't say anything. He glanced at her one more time, then stepped on the gas.

The car didn't head towards her villa but to their old home... fifteen minutes later, the car stopped.

When Natalie held her head and tried to get out, she realized this wasn't her home.

It was the home she and Clayton used to share.
