Chapter 697 Caitlyn, Come Back to Me!
Hearing Landon's words, Caitlyn felt like she was about to cry. Trying to keep it together, her voice all raspy, she said, "Landon, don't you think it's a bit late for this?"
Landon wasn't sure if it was too late. All he knew was that he didn't want to let her go.
Caitlyn couldn't leave even if she wanted to. When she opened the hospital room door, a line of bodyguards in black suits stood there, saying respectfully, "Ms. Robinson, sorry, but without Mr. Carter's permission, you can't leave."
Caitlyn slammed the door shut in frustration. She turned around, glaring at Landon. "What the hell is this about?" she demanded.
Landon had just had surgery and was really weak; he should've been resting... but he couldn't. His lips were pale, but he still managed a slight smile and said to Caitlyn, "If you want to know, come here and I'll tell you."
Seeing him like that, Caitlyn wasn't scared of him pulling anything. She walked back to the side of the bed, about to speak, but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her close. Her body pressed against his, and she heard a muffled groan.
It sounded painful, but not quite.
Caitlyn quickly pulled away and shouted, "Landon, are you out of your mind!"
His blue eyes locked onto hers, and he said softly, "Caitlyn, come back to me."
Later that night, Amara drove home.
Most of the lights in the villa were off, but a small lamp was on in the living room. Under the dim yellow light, Kingsley was lounging on the sofa in casual clothes, with a laptop on his lap. The blue glow from the screen highlighted his handsome features, making them look even more defined.
Watching him, Amara thought he looked really handsome.
Hearing the noise, Kingsley closed the laptop, looked up, and said gently, "How's Mr. Carter? Why did it take so long? Jesse and Dione are already asleep."
Amara walked over and leaned in to kiss him on the lips. "Was Dione well-behaved?" she asked.
Kingsley lightly patted her on the butt and replied, "I thought you were too busy with your career to care about me and the family."
Amara let him have his way. She simply lay in his arms, whispering against his lips, "Didn't I remember the way home?"
She had been neglecting him lately, so she wanted to make it up to him. She kissed his lips, slowly moving to his chin, her delicate hands slipping under his clothes.
Kingsley's expression changed immediately. His voice trembled a bit. "Mrs. Hawkins, are you sure you want to do this here?"
Amara chuckled softly and said, "No one will come, right?"
Kingsley began to deftly unbutton her clothes. "No! The housekeepers wouldn't be so indiscreet."
The night grew more passionate; it had been a week since they last made love, and they couldn't help but indulge.
By the time they finished, it was already past midnight. Amara took a nap, and when she woke up, she was covered with a blanket, lying in Kingsley's arms.
Kingsley still had the laptop by his side, looking focused, appearing very abstinent. It was so different from the way he had been earlier, ravaging her.
Amara gently got up and asked, "Why didn't you wake me?"
Kingsley put down the laptop, smoothed her slightly messy hair, and smiled lightly. "You seemed tired, so I let you sleep downstairs for a bit."
Amara, afraid that the housekeepers might see the traces of passion on the sofa, wanted to clean up. Yet Kingsley had already cleaned up, even flushing the used tissues down the toilet. He gently touched her delicate face and said, "We've had two kids already; why are you still so shy? It's normal for a couple to make love in the living room occasionally; the housekeepers will understand."
Amara glared at him and responded, "This isn't the living room; not everyone is as shameless as you!"
Kingsley retorted reservedly, "Weren't you the one moaning happily just now? Why weren't you afraid of the housekeepers seeing then?"
Hearing this, Amara angrily kicked him and wrapped herself in a small blanket, heading upstairs. After checking on the kids, she went to the bathroom to take a shower. When she came out, still damp, Kingsley was already waiting with a towel to dry her off.
Amara's anger melted away. She put on her bathrobe and leaned lightly against Kingsley, enjoying the closeness.
Suddenly, she said, "Caitlyn's in the hospital."
Kingsley replied softly, "Okay."
Amara lowered her eyes, thinking for a moment, then said, "I don't think Mr. Carter will let go. Something feels off about this."
Kingsley, being a man, understood men well.
Landon's intentions were clear to Kingsley, but he didn't want to discuss the darker side of men with Amara. It was better for her to stay somewhat innocent, even though she was pretty sharp overall.
Kingsley gently held Amara's slender waist, kissed the back of her neck, and whispered, "How do you still have the energy to think about other things? Wasn't I working hard enough just now?"
Amara knew him well. It was clear he didn't want to answer.
She didn't press him, but she also didn't give in, turning to hug his neck softly. She said, "Three times isn't enough? Kingsley... you're over thirty; you should be more restrained."
He laughed lowly and responded, "I don't want to restrain myself at all."
With that, he carried her back to the bedroom. The bed was naturally soft, and the experience was naturally different. After a night of passion, Amara woke up at nine in the morning.
She reached out to block the sunlight, thinking, 'I really shouldn't have indulged!'
After washing up and having breakfast, she headed to the hospital.
As she expected, Caitlyn was still there, but she was inside playing with Katelyn, seemingly ignoring Landon. Seeing this, Amara smiled.
Lola was also there, and Amara greeted her.
Lola, as always, had a teasing tone. "You're not usually late. Did Kingsley keep you up?"
Amara cleared her throat but didn't reply.
Fortunately, Lola was just teasing and quickly moved on to discussing the case. "Mr. Carter, although the prosecution is bringing the charges, we still need to cooperate. I'll probably be here every day for the next few days to understand the situation."
Landon glanced at her and asked, "Are you sure you're here to understand the case and not just to watch the show?"
Lola didn't shy away and responded, "Watching the show is just a bonus."
Landon then said to Amara, "I told you, the Hawkins family doesn't have a single good person, yet you still married into it."
Hearing this, Amara chose to remain silent.
After talking a bit more, Lola prepared to leave, and Amara went to see her off. Once they had left, Landon softly called out, "I need to use the bathroom."
Hazel immediately came over eagerly and said, "Mr. Carter, let me help you!"
However, Landon looked displeased.
Then Hazel saw the urinal beside him and immediately understood. Landon couldn't get out of bed yet and had to use that, so it wasn't appropriate for her to help. After thinking it over, she asked, "Should I call a nurse for you?"
Landon closed his eyes and said, "The nurse can't just touch me either."
Hazel understood his meaning. After some thought, she cautiously said, "Ms. Robinson is still an unmarried lady; it's not appropriate for her to help with this! You'll have to make do!"
Just then, a nurse came in and quickly helped with it. Hazel, knowing it wasn't appropriate for her to be there, quickly stepped aside.
When Caitlyn came out, she happened to see this. The atmosphere immediately became awkward.
