Chapter 614 Forced Announcement: Kingsley Has a Son!

Amara's knees went weak from his kiss.

It was freezing outside, but she felt a fire burning inside her. Kingsley was feeling it too; he was in his prime and hadn't been with anyone in three years. Right now, he really needed to let off some steam.

His voice, all deep and sexy, whispered in her ear. Amara knew the whole "documents" thing was just a lame excuse to get close. She teased, "Mr. Hawkins, must've been tough keeping those urges in check for so long!"

"That's harsh!" Kingsley shot back.

They locked eyes, their young bodies trembling with restraint. No one else could get the tension between them. But they managed to keep it together.

Amara pushed him away. "I'm going upstairs!"

Under the moonlight, she slowly made her way to the stairs, feeling his eyes on her the whole time.

Kingsley leaned against his car, wiping the corner of his mouth. His blue eyes followed Amara's slender figure, though she had been warm in his arms just moments ago.

"I broke up with her," he said softly, his voice echoing in the early morning light.

Amara paused.

Kingsley went on, "I broke up with her before I knew about Jesse!"

He walked over, gently holding her arms from behind. He pulled her close, resting his chin on her neck and whispered, "I'm sorry!"

He was apologizing for the hurtful things he said three years ago, words Amara might never forget.

Amara trembled in Kingsley's arms as he held her tight.

After a long while, Amara finally spoke, her voice a bit hoarse, "I don't actually hate you. In fact, I'm grateful because you were genuinely good to me! Kingsley, you must be wondering why I don't hate you but still don't want to be with you! Hannah isn't the main reason. If it wasn't her, it would be someone else becoming your wife."

Amara turned in his arms, her eyes glistening. She said softly, "Because I don't want to settle! Yes, your life is so good that I have to look up to you, but Kingsley, for someone like me, I can't fit into your world, nor do I want to force myself to. It's that simple."

"What about Jesse? Have you thought about him?"

"I can take Jesse to Bostan. It won't affect him too much over there."

Kingsley looked at her quietly.

After a long while, he sneered, "Looks like you've thought it all through!"

Amara didn't deny it.

Kingsley's heart, which had just softened, hardened again. He lit a cigarette and took a slow drag. "Fine, let's see how far you can go!"

With that, he seemed pretty pissed, opened the car door, and started the engine.

The car's exhaust spewed out two streams of smoke.

Amara stepped back. Then she went back inside, the house dark and quiet. She leaned against the door for a long time.

During breakfast, Amara exchanged a few words with Hailey, who seemed unusually distracted. Amara thought she hadn't slept well and didn't pay much attention. Just as she was about to change shoes and head to work, the doorbell rang.

Amara frowned, expecting Kingsley, but it was Billy at the door.

Billy had been wasting his time gambling for the past couple of years, piling up debts and driving away his wife and kids. Hailey often gave him an earful about it.

But Billy never hit Amara up for money. Instead, he would bring some treats for Jesse whenever he dropped by.

Maybe seeing Jesse reminded him of his own kid.

Amara stepped aside to let him in.

Billy carried a bag of fruit, hunched over as he carefully changed his shoes. "Is Jesse still sleeping?"

Amara nodded. "Yeah!"

She checked the time. "I gotta catch the subway, Billy. Make yourself at home."

Billy nodded repeatedly. "Go ahead; the morning subway is a nightmare."

Hailey placed a bowl of dough on the table, her tone not very pleasant. "You know Amara has to work, and you come over at this time?"

Billy awkwardly scratched his head.

Amara smiled faintly. "Billy just wanted to see Jesse." With that, she opened the door and left.

After she left, Hailey started rolling out the dough.

Billy stood by for a while, then eagerly offered, "Mom, let me help you!"

Hailey smacked his hand with the rolling pin.

She said angrily, "Amara thinks you're a good person, but I know you too well. You're just like your gambler father! He ended up in jail, leaving me homeless. You're even worse; you got abandoned by your wife and kids. Now you're eyeing Amara? She has a $3,000 mortgage to pay every month, no money for you! If you dare ask her for money, I'll beat you to death to save Amara from your harm."

Billy was stunned.

After a while, he forced a smile. "Amara is like a sister to me, and with you protecting her, how could I harm her? Besides, I care about Jesse! Can I at least give Jesse a kiss?"

Hailey stopped him. "Wait until Jesse wakes up! You can't go into Amara's bedroom, understand?"

Billy saluted her. "Following the highest orders."

His words finally made Hailey laugh. She wiped her apron. "I'll go dress Jesse. There's warm milk and eggs in the kitchen. Don't eat too much; Jesse needs to grow!"

Billy grinned and went to the kitchen.

Ten minutes later, Billy came out holding Jesse. He was usually good to Jesse, and Jesse, who hadn't seen him in a while, still recognized him, hugging his neck and calling him affectionately.

Billy kissed Jesse's little nose. "I'll take you horse riding later."

Hailey quickly said, "No! It's too cold."

She thought for a moment and then said, "Jesse's dad has found Amara. You shouldn't come over so easily anymore. It would be bad if he saw you! Even though you treat Amara like a sister, she's not your real sister. Jesse's father's status is too high. Amara already has a humble background. Don't cause her any trouble, or you'll regret it."

Billy smiled. When he was about to leave, Hailey still felt sorry for him and took out some of her savings. "Here's $1,000. Take it! You're not young anymore. Stop messing around! Settle down and bring Naomi and Nicole back. That's what's important."

Billy took the money and looked at it for a long time.

Amara took the subway to work. As soon as she got downstairs, she saw her white BMW. Seeing her approach, the Hawkins Group's driver handed her the keys. "Mr. Hawkins instructed this."

Amara thanked him calmly.

She didn't call Kingsley. After all, he was the one who damaged the tire, so it was only right for him to send the car over.

The vibe at the Carter Group's branch office was pretty gloomy.

As soon as Amara walked into the secretary's office, Mia came over. "Mr. Carter's in a bad mood."

Amara just gave a faint smile.

All day, she tried to steer clear of Landon, not wanting to set him off. Rule number one of being a good secretary: readed the boss's mood and didn't poke the bear.

Amara wrapped up her work without a hitch. Just as she opened her car door, she heard a voice. "Amara."

She turned around and saw Billy, which she had kind of expected.

She closed the car door and walked over, asking gently, "What's up?"

Billy hesitated.

He glanced up at the Carter Group's golden sign, clearly intimidated by Landon, and finally said, "Let me treat you to dinner. We can talk while we eat."

He patted his wallet. "I just got paid."

Amara smiled and called him out, "Hailey gave you some money, didn't she?"

Billy scratched his head, embarrassed. "Making her happy counts as my salary. Come on, I'll treat you to some oysters."

Amara figured he needed something from her, so she agreed.

She opened the passenger door. "Get in!"

Billy quickly hopped into the car.

About half an hour later, Amara drove to a bustling outdoor restaurant in the city. This place specialized in barbecue and was super popular, with smoke filling the air even before dark.

Billy ordered half a pitcher of beer, some skewers, and ten oysters.

He drank half a glass of beer and pointed at the oysters. "These are nutritious!"

Amara, needing to drive, refused to drink.

Billy took the beer bottle back and couldn't help but say, "That car you have is nice; it must be worth around sixty thousand dollars! I used to drive a car worth that money too, but I lost it all gambling. My wife Naomi took Nicole and went back to her parents' house." His eyes dimmed as he spoke.

Amara poured him half a glass of beer.

Billy's eyes lit up again, and he smiled at Amara. "You're doing well now."

He downed the beer in one gulp, hesitated for a long time, and finally said, "Actually, I wouldn't ask you if I had any other choice. There's a business opportunity that could not only pay off my debts but also save some money. I just need some capital."

Amara had already guessed.

She could refuse, as she didn't have much extra money herself. But she thought of Hailey. Despite her harsh words, she still cared about Billy.

Amara poured him another glass. "Is it reliable?"

Billy knew from her question that she might agree and immediately perked up. "Absolutely! If I make money this time, I'll share it with you. You won't need to be a secretary anymore; you can be my assistant."

Amara laughed. "That sounds unreliable!"

"This business is solid!" Billy handed her a skewer and some napkins, smiling ingratiatingly. "Amara, help me this once. When I bring Naomi back, I'll be very grateful to you!"

Amara waved her hand. "Alright! But I can only give you sixty thousand dollars at most."

Billy raised his glass. "Thank you."

Not far away, a white Bentley was parked in front of a club.

Kingsley leaned against the car door, watching.

He saw Amara eating barbecue with a man, their interaction seemingly intimate, not like ordinary friends. The man even handed her napkins, and Amara didn't refuse.

"Kingsley, what are you looking at?" Jimmy asked as he got out of a nearby car. He was Kingsley's childhood friend.

Kingsley gently closed the car door.

Jimmy looked over and was slightly stunned. "Isn't that Amara?"

People in their small circle knew about Kingsley and Amara, but they didn't know they had a child.

Seeing her again, Jimmy was quite impressed. "She looks much prettier! Is that her boyfriend?"

Kingsley's eyes were deep.

Jimmy patted his shoulder. "It's been years, and you still can't forget her? Come on, they're waiting for us upstairs!"

After finishing their meal, Amara and Billy talked for a while by the car.

Jimmy said playfully, "What a pity! With her looks, she could find someone better. Kingsley, where are you going?"

Kingsley had already opened the car door.

He got in, expressionless. "Home!"

Jimmy cursed at him. He had finally returned to Syeattel but was often hard to find. As Kingsley's car drove away, Amara also left.

Jimmy lit a cigarette.

When he got to the private room upstairs and casually mentioned it to their childhood friends. Caitlyn, lounging on the sofa and playing with her nails, said lightly, "It's normal. They have a son now. If Amara eats with someone else, Kingsley probably feels like he's been cheated on."

Jimmy almost burned his fingers with his cigarette. He had inherited Bradley's mischievous nature, immediately posted on social media: [Kingsley has a son!]

He even sneakily posted a photo he had just taken of Amara.

Honestly, Amara looked stunning now!

After posting, Jimmy tossed his phone aside and started having fun. Soon, his phone kept ringing. The first call was from Frederick, his voice trembling. "Jimmy, explain yourself."

Jimmy, cigarette in mouth, respectfully said, "You should ask Kingsley. I heard Kingsley's child is a boy."

Frederick hung up.

Jimmy opened a bottle of wine, laughing. "Tonight's going to be a sleepless night!"

Meanwhile, Frederick, after hanging up, looked at Jimmy's post dozens of times. Pointing at it, he said to Charlotte, "I thought something was off with the picture Lola sent last time. Now it's undeniable. Charlotte, do you think Amara will let us see our grandson?"

Charlotte buttoned her coat and wrapped a wool scarf around her neck.

She smiled. "Let's go!"

Frederick stammered, "Where to?"

Charlotte glanced at him. "Don't you want to see your grandson?"

She walked out first, her voice trailing behind. "I just asked Kingsley's secretary for the address. We can see the child in 20 minutes."

Frederick quickly grabbed his coat, hurriedly caught up, and wrapped his arm around his wife's waist, whispering, "You're the best."

Charlotte smiled faintly.

Meanwhile, Amara drove home.

It was nearly 8 PM when she arrived. Sitting in the car, she thought about how to explain this to Hailey.

Just as she figured it out and got out of the car, Kingsley grabbed her waist and pushed her against the car. Her lower back hurt, and her head was lightly bumped.

Amara couldn't help but kick him. "Kingsley, what do you want now?"

Kingsley's long fingers skillfully slipped into her coat. His eyes fixed on her, his voice trembling with a sexy tone. "Who is he?"
