Chapter 316 Crying Out Andrew In His Arms (Part 1)

Chloe bolted like a scared rabbit under all that teasing.

Andrew didn't bounce right away. He chilled in his car, puffing on a cigarette, watching Chloe's slim figure fade into the night.

His mind drifted to his sister, Victoria.

Victoria had passed away young, never getting to see her family one last time. That memory was a knife in Andrew's heart.

He'd seen Charlotte's photo. Charlotte had that classic Devereux look—fair skin, long blonde hair.

But personality-wise, Chloe was the one who allowed Andrew to see shades of Victoria in her.

Actually, Chloe seemed even a bit more clueless than Victoria.

Andrew held the cigarette between his long fingers but forgot to take a drag. When the ash finally fell on his pants, he gave a lonely smile.

What was up with him today? She was just some girl he bumped into.

Why was he getting all sentimental?

He sat there for a while before finally starting the car and heading back to the hotel. As soon as he walked into the suite, Nathan rushed over, pretending to scold, "Why'd you go out alone? What if something happened?"

Andrew plopped down on the sofa.

Even tired, he kept that elegant posture, not a hint of slack.

He grabbed a throw pillow, then paused to sniff it.

There was a faint scent on it.

Not perfume, just a girl's natural smell.

Sweet, like oranges.

Andrew raised an eyebrow and smirked. "If something happened, I'd just ditch all these work troubles! You have no idea how exhausting they are, meeting people every day and dealing with all this crap!"

Nathan handed him a glass of water, listening to his rant with patience.

He knew Andrew only vented like this around him.

To everyone else, Andrew was always perfect.

After a bit of complaining, Andrew got ready to shower.

Nathan helped him with his shirt and suddenly asked, "Want to invite Miss Phillips over to keep you company?"

Grace Phillips was a knockout, and she got along well with Andrew. Sometimes when he was in Syeattel, he'd have her over.

Andrew was heading to the bathroom. He paused for a second and then said, "Nah, not in the mood!"

Nathan followed, speaking softly, "You sometimes suppress yourself too much."

Andrew turned, teasing, "Did she put you up to this? She's great, but she's a bit too scheming! She's hot, but being with her is draining."

Nathan didn't push it.

Grace had begged a lot. She seemed good, but it was up to Andrew, and clearly, he wasn't into her right now.

The sound of running water came from the bathroom.

Nathan wisely backed off. A guy in his forties always had some private stuff to handle.

Andrew definitely did.

After satisfying his libido, he leaned against the bathroom tiles, head down, rinsing off.

Even though his body craved it and a beautiful woman was waiting, he just wasn't feeling it. While he was pleasuring himself, all he could picture was Chloe kneeling on the sofa.

She was so naive, totally clueless about men!

Back at the Hawkins Mansion, Chloe slept in.

When she woke up, Frederick was sitting by the bed.

She snuggled closer, resting her head on Frederick's leg, and asked, "Frederick, how's it going with Charlotte?"

Frederick pinched her cheek. "Don't worry."

When Charlotte's thing with Ethan came out, his dad was initially against it. The whole situation was too messy, and as a dad, it was tough to pick sides.

Might as well, let them all break up!

But then Charlotte's uncle, Andrew, stirred the pot at their place, riling up Patrick. "You think the Devereux family is all that? Our Frederick's dead set on marrying Charlotte!"

Frederick was worried about Charlotte and didn't want her hanging around Brian. Plus, Oliver was in Bostan.

But Chloe was super important to him too.

He stroked her long hair and softly asked, "Are you really sure about breaking up?"

Chloe leaned against him, giving a soft hum in response.

Frederick wanted to ask more, but the words got stuck. Penelope had already filled him in on yesterday's drama. He figured, given Andrew's status, Andrew probably just saw Chloe as some girl.

Besides, keeping Chloe busy might help her move on faster.

Frederick had lunch with her before heading to the office.

Chloe, at 27, had never worked a day in her life.

In the afternoon, she wandered around the house, and out of sheer boredom, she drove out. After aimlessly cruising, she ended up at the hotel where Andrew was staying.

How did she end up here?

Chloe was a bit confused, her face slightly flushed.

He had said last night that girls weren't his thing! She was just thinking about him being Charlotte's uncle.

He was just a bit good-looking, that's all.

At that moment, a black car slowly drove out.

It was Andrew's car.

Chloe blinked and decided to follow.

In the car, Nathan was in the front seat. He glanced at the rearview mirror and said softly, "It's Miss Hawkins' car."

Andrew was resting with his eyes closed.

Hearing this, he slightly opened his eyes. "Ignore her."

After about an hour, the car arrived at a cemetery.

He had already visited a few days ago. But today was William's death anniversary, so he wanted to pay his respects. Andrew was deeply grateful to William. Not only did he take in Victoria and care for her, but he also treated Charlotte like his own.

Andrew brought wine for William and a bouquet of lilies for Victoria.

The weather was scorching.

He stood quietly, even though his white shirt was soaked, he didn't move an inch.

Nathan held an umbrella for him, silently standing by.

Chloe had followed out of curiosity. At first, she watched secretly, but later, her feet in high heels got tired, so she squatted down.

She had never seen a man so heartbroken.

He didn't cry, but the sadness in the air was gut-wrenching.

After a long time, Andrew suddenly spoke, "Why are you hiding? Come over."

Was he calling her?

Chloe was confused. She got up and slowly moved over, softly calling Andrew. Then her arm was gently grasped by a strong hand, pulling her to his side.

Standing like this, she realized Andrew was very tall.

Without high heels, she was 5'6", but next to him, she only reached his ear. He must be over 6'1".

Andrew gently stroked the photo on the tombstone.

In the photo, Victoria was still young and innocent, smiling carefree.

Andrew smiled gently. "William, Victoria, this is a child of the Hawkins family, Frederick's sister. If you were still here, you'd see Charlotte getting married! Don't worry; I'll make sure Charlotte's taken care of!"

After saying this, he stood up and gently patted Chloe's head. "Say hi to them!"

Chloe was a bit flustered. After a moment, she stammered, "William, Victoria, I didn't mean to disturb you. Frederick will treat Charlotte very well. If not, my dad will kick his butt."

Andrew chuckled lightly.

His gloomy mood lifted a bit.

Chloe turned to look at him and softly asked, "Andrew, do you agree with Frederick and Charlotte being together?"

Andrew started walking out, "Did I say that?"

"You did! You can't take it back now!"

She followed behind him, instinctively hugging his arm and gently shaking it.
