Chapter 487 Gavin, You're a Bastard!
It was definitely Christmas, and the house was packed, but the vibe was just off.
Sarah was bored out of her mind. When she decided to leave, Gavin walked her to the parking lot.
It was late, but the snow lit up everything, so they could see each other clearly.
Gavin wasn't even wearing a coat. Just a white shirt and a dark blue cashmere sweater, looking all sharp and handsome.
Sarah leaned against her car door, giving a small smile. "Gavin, aren't you gonna drive me home?"
Gavin pulled out a pack of cigarettes, lit one up, and the red tip glowed in the dark. He didn't say anything, and Sarah didn't push it. But she didn't expect him to be so cold.
She couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed. "Even if we're just partners, you're being way too cold!"
Gavin blew out a smoke ring, still silent.
Sarah wasn't having it. "Am I not pretty enough or good enough? What does she have that I don't?"
"No need to compare yourself to her."
Sarah finally snapped. "Gavin, you can't even compare her to me? You won't even humor me a little?"
Gavin put out his cigarette, smiling faintly. "I don't want to mess with your feelings. As for our engagement, you can rethink it."
Sarah got into her car, fuming. She sped off into the night, the car skidding a bit at the entrance.
Gavin stood there for a moment, then headed back inside.
The servants were cleaning up, and Nathan and Amanda were getting ready to leave.
Gavin grabbed his coat. "I'll see you off."
Amanda didn't want him to, so she smiled. "Nathan can drive slowly. Gavin, you should really pay more attention to your girlfriend. In this icy weather, you let Sarah drive home alone? Aren't you worried Andrew will scold you later?"
Gavin got the hint. Chloe had no clue and complained a bit. Only Andrew watched Gavin with a deep look.
After a moment, Andrew got up to see Nathan and Amanda out, said a few words, then came back and pointed at Gavin. "Come upstairs with me."
Gavin had his hands in his pockets.
Chloe, seeing Andrew's serious face, couldn't help but say, "Don't be so harsh!"
Andrew rarely ignored her. He slowly went upstairs, with Gavin following, his sleeve being tugged.
Chloe whispered, "Andrew's mad, don't go against him."
Gavin patted Chloe's hand and followed.
In the study on the second floor, Andrew sat on the sofa, looking pissed.
Gavin came in without a word, made some coffee, and brought it over.
Andrew lit a cigarette and took a deep drag. "What's up with you? Amanda's been acting weird around you all night. So, do you have anything on your conscience? You don't see your girlfriend off but see Nathan and Amanda instead?" Andrew couldn't help but smash the ashtray beside him! The sound of shattering echoed.
Chloe, hearing it downstairs, got worried and knocked on the door. "Andrew, what's going on? Talk to him nicely!"
Andrew said, "It's nothing! You go rest."
Chloe obediently left.
Andrew stared at Gavin. Gavin was calmly cleaning up the broken pieces, looking composed, which made Andrew even angrier.
Andrew snarled, "Well, say something! You usually talk a lot, why are you silent now?"
Gavin said casually, "I have no feelings for Sarah."
"So you two are business partners, huh? You really are something, aren't you? Then why are you being so attentive to Nathan and Amanda? You're not usually like this!" Andrew's hands trembled as he lit another cigarette.
Gavin finished cleaning up the pieces, wiped his hands with a tissue, and said calmly, "Nathan is getting old; I was worried."
Andrew squinted his eyes, sneering. "Oh really? That's hard to believe."
He took a couple of deep drags, finally getting to the point, and his voice was very low. "Just tell me! What's going on with you and Molly?"
Gavin's body stiffened slightly. He didn't answer, but he didn't deny it either.
Andrew wanted to smash something again but found nothing nearby, so he could only angrily point at Gavin.
Gavin silently handed him the coffee. Andrew really wanted to throw it in his face, but thinking it would alarm Chloe, he restrained himself. He lowered his voice, "Tell me what's going on!"
Gavin lowered his gaze. After a long silence, he spoke softly, "We're separated now."
Andrew didn't respond. He pointed at Gavin, restraining himself repeatedly, and finally said, "You're a bastard!"
Gavin said in a low voice, "I'm sorry."
Andrew didn't say anything. He got up and walked out, pausing at the door, "You're not allowed to go out!"
Chloe came over again.
Andrew went downstairs, put on his coat, and said he was going out for a while.
Chloe was worried, "Let Zack drive you?"
Andrew didn't want anyone to know about Gavin's disgraceful actions. He patted his coat, "It's fine."
It was still snowing outside, and Andrew stepped out into the snow, the porch light shining on him.
Chloe couldn't stop him, so she only complained to Gavin, "Is Andrew keeping a mistress outside? Why else would he rush out in this weather?" Gavin remained expressionless.
Andrew drove for an hour and stopped below a small apartment building. This was Molly's place. It was very late, and he didn't know if she was asleep.
Andrew got out of the car, carrying a dessert. Nathan occasionally mentioned Molly's preferences to him, and he remembered.
Standing outside, he knocked lightly on the door. Molly was very surprised to see him, then became very nervous. She gently opened the door.
Their eyes met, and both were silent. Finally, Andrew spoke, "Don't recognize me? Not inviting me in?"
Molly was wearing pink loungewear with a little bear on it. Her eyes were slightly red as she opened the door to let Andrew in. After he came in, he took off his coat and looked around. The place was well-decorated and tidy.
Molly got him a cup of coffee, a bit embarrassed, saying it was all she had, and she wasn't good at cooking. Andrew took it and said something meaningful, "Chloe can't cook either."
Molly looked at him, her eyes slightly red.
Andrew didn't bring it up again. He opened the dessert and offered it to her. It was her favorite.
Molly's lips trembled. Even though Andrew didn't say it, she knew he had figured out her relationship with Gavin. After eating a piece, she spoke softly, "Andrew, I have nothing to do with Gavin now! I won't appear in front of him, you can rest assured."
Andrew felt a deep sadness. He felt he had let Molly down. He had promised to take good care of her, but he hadn't done so.
Andrew didn't respond. He handed her a small cookie and said gently, "I just wanted to come and see you."
Molly took it and took a bite. Then she started crying.
No one could understand her feelings.
Between her and Gavin, there was a wrong beginning and an absurd end. Even if they knew each other's feelings, so what? There was no future for them.
She silently shed tears, and Andrew just stayed with her.
The fatherly love she missed in her childhood, he could only give her a little bit now.
Molly quickly stopped crying and said softly, "I'm fine! In fact, I have a new boyfriend now. He's very good to me."
Andrew was conflicted. One was his own son, and the other was a girl he owed so much to; the relationship was so subtle.
He could only say it was good, then gently patted her hair.
She was very pretty, petite, and he realized Gavin liked this type, which explained why he never liked Sarah.
Outside, the snow was falling heavily, but inside it was warm.
Later, no one mentioned this matter again, and Andrew didn't bring up any compensation. He just accompanied her.
When Andrew left, it was already close to midnight.
Molly saw him downstairs, and as Andrew got into the car, he couldn't help but turn around. He looked at Molly and said softly, "Bring your boyfriend to meet me sometime."
Molly softly said okay.
It was cold outside, her little face was pale, and her nose was red. Andrew told her to go back inside quickly.
Molly insisted on watching his car leave before going upstairs. Then she went back home, made herself another cup of coffee, and ate all the desserts Andrew had brought.
She felt a bit full and decided to sit on the sofa watching TV.
Andrew drove back home through the heavy snow.
When he walked into the villa, his hair and coat were covered in snowflakes. Gavin was waiting at the door and immediately came up to him, asking softly, "Did you go see her?"
Andrew sneered, "You still have the nerve to ask!"
"What did she say?"
Andrew took off his coat and walked into the hall, casually throwing it on the sofa.
He put his hands on his hips and continued to sneer, "She said she found a boyfriend! So stay away from her! You'd be in big trouble if Chloe ever heard about this!"
Gavin didn't respond.
Andrew raised his voice, "Did you hear what I said?"
Gavin smiled faintly, "Didn't you say she has a boyfriend? How could I get close?"
Andrew snorted, "I used to underestimate you, but now it seems there's nothing shameless you wouldn't do." With that, he slowly went upstairs.
Gavin stood in the living room for a while, then went back to his bedroom.
It was late at night, but he couldn't sleep. He often thought about the days he spent with Molly. He couldn't help but take out his phone and look at her photos, smiling.
After a long time, he couldn't resist wanting to call her.
He knew she had changed her number, but getting the new one wasn't difficult. After some deliberation, he just sent a message: [Merry Christmas!]
Knowing there would be no response, Gavin still stared at his phone for a long time.
The next day, he went to the office, and as soon as he entered, Aria brought a pile of documents for him to review. She finally took out an invitation, "Gavin, this is an invitation from Miss Hughes. She wants to invite you to a charity auction next Tuesday."
Gavin flipped through the documents, his tone indifferent. "Decline it for me."
Aria was silent for a moment, then said softly, "I looked at the auction items, and there are two pieces of jewelry designed by Molly, a brooch and a pendant. Maybe Molly will be there too."
Gavin looked up, "Let me see the invitation."
Aria immediately handed it over.
Gavin flipped through it, focusing on the two pieces of jewelry: a camellia pearl brooch and a pendant made of a seashell, both very exquisite and beautiful.
He closed it and said calmly, "Tell Miss Hughes I'll be there on time."
Aria nodded, "Okay!" She walked out, leaned against the door, and smiled.
Inside the office, Gavin was slightly lost in thought.
In the blink of an eye, it was Tuesday.
Gavin went home after work to change into a tailored suit. He looked refined and handsome.
Sarah sat next to Gavin, dressed elegantly in a white gown. She smiled, "It's so hard to see you."
Gavin flipped through the invitation in his hand and asked indifferently, "Sarah, aren't you tired?"
Sarah's smile froze on her face. After a while, she forced a smile, "I don't understand what you mean."
Gavin decided to be clear, "You proposed the partnership, and I agreed! So there shouldn't be any emotional entanglements between us, understand?"
"And what about sex?" Sarah said, her face heating up.
Gavin shook his head and remained calm, "If you really want to, you can find someone else, just don't get pregnant!"
"Gavin, you're a bastard!"
Gavin leaned closer, appearing intimate but actually cold, "It's actually a good thing to see me clearly sooner."
Sarah was very angry. But out of the corner of her eye, she saw Molly and Clayton approaching.
So she simply wrapped her arms around Gavin's neck and quickly kissed his cheek. She originally wanted to kiss his lips but was afraid Gavin would completely freak out.
Gavin frowned, about to say something when he saw Molly. She was wearing a smoky gray dress. The top had a wide neckline, revealing her delicate neck.
Clayton said gently, "The seats are here!"
Coincidentally, they were right next to Gavin. Molly noticed him then, her face turning slightly pale.
Clayton wrapped his arm around her waist and looked at Gavin, "Gavin, long time no see! Accompanying your girlfriend, huh? We hope you'll support Molly's work later!"
Gavin looked at him, squinted his eyes, and said very slowly, "Of course!"
