Chapter 793 That Time on the Island, Natalie Got Pregnant 1
The person in the mirror had bloodshot eyes.
He looked disheveled and defeated, with a mix of love and hate churning in his heart... until it all turned into blood, which he spat into the sink.
Grant stared blankly.
After a long while, he turned on the faucet and splashed water on his face.
Footsteps echoed from the hallway outside. It was Clara, carrying his coat.
Seeing him like this, she couldn't help but understand. She supported him and whispered, "She's getting married. Why are you still thinking about her?"
She tried to get closer, standing on tiptoe to whisper in his ear, hoping for something to happen between them.
But Grant pushed her away.
His voice was cold, "Take a cab home."
He was in a bad mood and didn't return to the private room. He grabbed his coat and was about to leave when Clara's voice trembled behind him, "Why can't you see me, Grant? What does she have that I don't?"
Grant paused.
But he didn't turn around. He just said softly, "There's no need to compare yourself to her."
'Because you can't compare!' he thought.
As Grant walked downstairs, the night breeze was cool. He stopped and stared at an old tree across the street for a long time.
When he got into the car, the driver asked where he was headed.
He gave an address, and the driver hesitated. Grant didn't have any property there!
Grant realized it was the address of Clayton's apartment.
After a moment, he leaned back in the car seat, holding his forehead, and said quietly, "Just take me there. I need to take a walk."
The driver could tell he was in a bad mood and didn't say a word.
He stepped on the gas and drove over.
When Grant got out, he told the driver to leave. He lit a cigarette and leaned against a tree across from Clayton's building, smoking.
He would occasionally come here to watch the lights in Clayton's apartment turn on and off.
He knew Natalie often stayed there.
Those nights were like knives cutting into Grant, but he still came, still watched.
He didn't even know if he was nuts or what!
22nd floor of the apartment.
Natalie was sitting on the couch watching cartoons, wearing a cute pink two-piece pajama set.
Clayton came out of the study after finishing his work.
"You're eating chips again?"
Natalie quickly hugged the bag, "Only two bags a week. You can't throw them away."
Clayton chuckled, "The dentist said you should eat less."
He wasn't strict with her. He turned to the bedroom to get his bathrobe and take a shower.
Before going in, he poked his head out, "Remember to brush your teeth after you're done! Don't cry if you get a toothache."
Natalie made a face at him.
When Clayton came out of the shower, she ran over and hugged him, kissing him.
After a while, she asked softly, "Did you notice the new toothpaste?"
Clayton was only wearing a bathrobe.
His body was strong and muscular.
He wrapped an arm around her, and Natalie felt fragile in his embrace, like she could break at any moment.
He lowered his head and kissed her lips, murmuring after a long kiss, "Yeah, I noticed."
Natalie's face turned slightly red.
They had been living together for a while, but apart from kissing, they hadn't gone further.
Even touching was rare.
Only once, when Clayton came back drunk from a business dinner, he kissed her all over in the dark, his hands exploring under her clothes, breathing heavily.
She knew he wanted to, but he never did.
Clayton said he wanted to wait until their wedding night.
Natalie thought he was quite the gentleman, but since he wasn't making a move, she wasn't going to push him... waiting until marriage was fine!
She cherished her relationship with Clayton. Next week, they were going abroad to meet his parents and set a wedding date.
They had known each other for a long time and planned to marry in the fall.
Natalie's slender fingers traced Clayton's strong neck. She loved touching that spot.
Clayton lightly patted her butt, "Are you crazy?"
Natalie let out a small hum and hugged his waist, feeling a bit shy.
Clayton thought more than she did. He lifted her onto the back of the couch, making it easier to kiss...
He wanted to save the real intimacy for their wedding night, so their kisses were especially passionate.
He even mimicked the act, leaving Natalie flustered.
But she felt something, tilting her head back slightly, accepting his advances.
They kissed for a long time.
Clayton felt that if they continued, he wouldn't be able to control himself.
Just as he was about to stop, Natalie's phone rang. It was an old classmate calling about a reunion.
"Natalie, you left school early, so you missed a lot!"
"That Clara seems to be with Grant now."
"Everyone says you won't come."
Natalie smiled faintly, "Yeah, I don't want to go. Bye."
She hung up.
Clayton stared at her, "There's a reunion. Why not go?"
Natalie felt a bit heavy-hearted, but she didn't want to upset Clayton. She pinched his chest, "I don't want to go! It's the day before we fly out! Besides, there's no point. I don't keep in touch with many people."
Clayton didn't push her.
He pinched her waist and kissed her for a long time, then patted her butt, "Time for bed! You gotta submit your manuscript to the magazine tomorrow morning."
Clayton had invested a lot of money to keep Natalie's magazine afloat.
Natalie kissed his chin, "Thank you, Mr. Percy!"
Clayton pulled her back, his fingers slipping into her pajamas, getting serious... he had never done this before, and Natalie was too scared to move.
She even bit her lip, not daring to make a sound.
After a while, Clayton pulled his hand out and whispered in her ear, "Did it feel good?"
Natalie let out a small, cat-like sound.
Clayton's gaze deepened.
They hadn't had sex, but they had kissed, nibbled, and touched... now he had taken it a step further, confirming that Natalie could accept him.
Maybe he had been waiting, waiting for Natalie to change her mind.
He hoped that if she ever regretted it, her body would still be pure.
But just now, her body told him... she could accept him.
Clayton really wanted to make love to Natalie.
He had liked her for so many years, and now she was like a kitten in his arms. How could he not want her... reason and desire clashed, and he ultimately chose to let Natalie decide.
He pressed his forehead against hers, their noses touching, and asked softly, "Do you want to? Do you want it?"
Natalie's heart was pounding.
She was a mature woman, and her body responded to Clayton. How could she not want it, but she was still a bit reserved and didn't say anything, just leaned in for a gentle kiss.
Her meaning was clear.
Clayton wrapped an arm around her waist and held her neck, pulling her closer.
He leaned in and kissed her deeply.
Desire ignited.
He picked her up, kissing her as he carried her to the bedroom, passionately touching her... Natalie trembled in his arms.
When he laid her on the bed, she felt uneasy and called out, "Clayton."
"I'm here," he responded, leaning in to kiss her.
At first, Natalie felt good, but soon she felt something was wrong and pushed him, "Did I buy a fake product? This toothpaste makes me feel nauseous."
She felt unwell, so Clayton stopped.
Natalie hugged him, "It's okay!"
Clayton teased her for being shameless, saying no woman should be this forward. Natalie clung to his neck, acting coy.
This was probably their best moment! It had nothing to do with physical intimacy, just pure trust and companionship.
Natalie thought that she loved Clayton.
In the end, they didn't go through with it. Natalie felt sick and really wanted to throw up.
She went to the bathroom and dry-heaved for a long time.
Clayton stood behind her, patiently soothing her. Natalie leaned against him, "It must be a fake."
After a while, Clayton suddenly said, "That convenience store shouldn't have fake products."
Natalie didn't react at first, joking a bit, but then the smile faded from her face... the color drained from her cheeks.
She turned and looked up at Clayton, her lips trembling.
She cared about Clayton.
She genuinely wanted to be with him, to marry him. If... if... it was true, what would she do? What would Clayton do?
Clayton's feelings were even more complicated.
But he knew Natalie was scared. He gently pulled her into his arms.
His embrace was so warm, it made Natalie want to cry.
"Clayton, I'm scared!"
Clayton gently stroked her hair, his voice slightly hoarse, "Don't be scared. I'll go buy a pregnancy test."
Natalie clung to his sleeve.
Clayton kept stroking her head. After a while, he said, "Come with me, okay?"
Natalie nodded.
After a moment, Clayton helped them both get dressed and drove out.
Natalie wore a black casual outfit, sitting quietly beside him, her face still pale... especially noticeable in the night.
Clayton drove out without seeing Grant.
But Grant saw them.
Late at night, Clayton and Natalie were wearing matching outfits, and there were obvious kiss marks on Natalie's neck.
Grant looked down and flicked his cigarette.
He laughed at himself.
'Look, they're doing great. Grant, you came out here in the middle of the night, hoping to see them unhappy? They're so happy!'
He backed away, mocking himself... and left.
Clayton took Natalie to a 24-hour pharmacy across the street, bought a test kit, and returned to the apartment. Natalie's legs were weak as they went upstairs.
Back home, Clayton handed her a disposable cup, "Go ahead. Let's find out."
Natalie looked up at him.
Clayton patted her head and smiled, "Even if you are, I can be the dad! Natalie, I'll always love you."
Natalie felt like crying... Clayton's voice was hoarse, "It's not your fault! If it is... it's just an accident."
Natalie's fingers curled slightly. After a moment, she smiled at him.
She said, "Clayton, I'm not scared!"
Because of him, she wasn't afraid anymore... They had chosen each other, and as long as Clayton didn't let go, neither would she.
