Chapter 217 We're even now!
Frederick wanted to see Charlotte, but it was tough.
Andrew had guards around her.
Other Hawkins family members could visit, but Frederick was always stopped, so he went to plead with Andrew.
In a small hospital reception room, Andrew was busy working. Despite his workload, he moved his work to Syeattel to support Charlotte. He couldn't let her face this alone.
Frederick came to beg.
Andrew slapped him a few times and left him there.
Frederick, usually proud, swallowed his pride and knelt in front of Andrew for hours.
After a long time, Andrew finally spoke.
Andrew's tone softened but stayed cold. "Frederick, begging won't help! You know it's over between you and Charlotte, no matter what happens with the baby."
Andrew's eyes reddened. He lit a cigarette to calm down.
Even so, he choked up before continuing, "No matter what happens with the baby, you two have no future! Not now, not ever! No woman can be that forgiving unless she's a fool!"
Frederick understood.
Charlotte had broken up with him, and he had begged for another chance.
Lola's arrival had eased things between them.
Over the past six or seven months, Charlotte's attitude had softened from cold to gentle, then to tender. Their brief married life had been happy.
Thinking of those times, Frederick's heart ached.
He lowered his stance. "I know, Andrew. I just want a chance to take care of her!"
Andrew sneered. "Are you sure you're not just bothering her?"
Frederick felt deeply humiliated.
At that moment, Andrew's subordinate reported, "Mr. Devereux, Mr. Mitchell and Miss Mitchell have gone to Charlotte's room and insisted on seeing her! Charlotte has seen them!"
Andrew closed his file and quickly walked out.
Frederick followed him.
In the hospital room, Charlotte stood quietly by the window.
Since giving birth to little Lola, she had barely slept, standing day and night.
She hoped the doctor would suddenly come and say, "The baby is out of danger and can be fed normally."
She knew it was a long shot, but she longed for it day and night.
In two days, she had become very thin.
Elijah brought Katherine over. Seeing how thin Charlotte had become, he felt deeply guilty. "Charlotte, it wasn't intentional. I didn't know this would happen! Katherine didn't expect it either. We all want you to be well!"
Charlotte smiled lightly.
'Want me to be well?'
Since Elijah appeared, when had he ever considered her, his so-called biological child? But he always claimed she was his only biological child.
Charlotte turned around.
She had lost a lot of weight but was still beautiful.
But her eyes showed her broken heart.
Charlotte said calmly, "Do you know what I think of you?"
Elijah's body trembled.
Charlotte said softly, "I used to look up to you, but over time I realized you were just an ordinary person with your own selfishness! You act like you're trying to sell a piece of trash to others! Of course, that's just my wishful thinking! When I loved Frederick, I thought Katherine was trash; when I didn't, I realized Katherine wasn't trash; she was junk food—disgusting to my husband but still very tasty!"
Elijah's face changed dramatically.
Katherine's pretty face twisted.
At that moment, Andrew and Frederick arrived at the door.
Charlotte's eyes landed on Frederick, and she smiled faintly. "Frederick, take your trash and get out! Just looking at you makes me sick!"
Andrew touched his nose.
Elijah cried out, "Charlotte, it's not Katherine's fault!"
Frederick spoke coldly, "Mr. Mitchell, you should leave! Don't come back!"
Katherine protested, "Frederick, I don't believe you don't have feelings for me! If you didn't, why did you leave her and go to Novaria to fight my case?"
Elijah slapped her. "Frederick was acting out of old feelings. How could you think that way?"
Katherine didn't give up. She wanted to win, thinking she could beat Charlotte. She came today to provoke her.
But Charlotte didn't care anymore.
She threw out a bank card and sneered. "Why be so subtle? You just want to keep seducing Frederick. I'll give you this chance. There's over $200,000 in here. There's a five-star hotel across the street. Miss Mitchell, consider this my payment for hiring a prostitute for Frederick! If you serve him well, maybe you can marry him after we divorce!"
Katherine tried to act pitiful.
Charlotte threw the card at her. "You can take my husband and leave now! Get lost!"
Katherine looked at Frederick.
Frederick's face was pale. He softly said one word, "Leave!"
Katherine was startled. She didn't expect Frederick to be so heartless towards her. She had thought he had some feelings for her.
Elijah spoke up, "Frederick, Katherine..."
"You leave too!" Frederick's voice was even colder.
Elijah was stunned. Frederick had always respected him. How could he treat him like this?
Frederick was shocked by Charlotte's words. He knew she did it on purpose. She knew he didn't like Katherine, yet she said such hurtful things. She truly wanted to divorce him.
Holding back his pain, he said to Elijah, "Everything that needed to be repaid has been repaid. There's no need to meet again! I'll also tell my father that the Hawkins family and the Mitchell family will have no further contact!"
Elijah was completely stunned, still unwilling to leave.
Andrew had his men throw them out.
Outside, with a look from Andrew, Elijah was pinned to the ground.
His hands that played the piano were held down.
Andrew, wearing leather shoes, gently stepped on his right hand, gradually applying pressure.
His face was cold.
Those hands had once attracted his sister, Victoria.
Those hands had once made young Charlotte admire.
What good were those hands, attached to a useless body?
Katherine screamed, but someone quickly covered her mouth. Andrew suddenly applied force with his foot.
Elijah's hand bone broke instantly.
"Your hand for Charlotte's tendon. We're even! From now on, neither of you can play the piano!"
Andrew looked down, his tone resolute. "Elijah, if you or your daughter appear in front of Charlotte again, I'll beat you every time! Elijah, I'm telling you, in my eyes, you're just a bastard!"
He only thought his sister Victoria was blind to like him.
Fortunately, she later married William, who taught Charlotte well!
After finishing his brutal act, Andrew wiped his hands.
As he turned, he saw a delicate girl, covering her mouth as if she was terrified.
Andrew recognized her as Frederick's sister, Chloe.
Though scared, Chloe bravely stepped forward to plead for Frederick, "Andrew, can you let Frederick take care of Charlotte? They can divorce after she recovers!"
