Chapter 663 Landon Loves Her
Amara was taken aback by how chill he was.
Kingsley grinned, "Now that I'm your hubby, I can't act like before, right? Gotta show some husbandly grace from now on!"
In the bathroom, steam was everywhere, creating an intimate, almost dreamlike atmosphere. They'd just gotten their marriage papers, and Amara was in such an enticing state, with the towel barely covering her body. Plus, they were young and full of energy.
Amara whispered, "Calm down; let's handle the important stuff first."
Kingsley held her close and grunted, "This is important too!"
They were pressed tight against each other, and she could totally feel his eagerness.
Despite never having asked, she instinctively knew he had remained faithful to her. And the realization only deepened her affection. In the business world, especially one filled with temptations and infidelities, Kingsley's loyalty was a precious gift.
She couldn't help but appreciate him more.
Originally, Kingsley was supposed to take her to the airport.
Amara refused. After changing her clothes, she gently hugged his waist and whispered, "It's official business! It's more reliable for the company to send a car."
She didn't like to badmouth others but still said, "Mrs. Carter is not easy to get along with."
Kingsley cupped her face and stroked it. "If you don't want to keep working, just come back. I can take care of you."
Amara didn't refuse outright. "Let's wait a bit longer, okay?"
Kingsley's eyes darkened.
At that moment, Amara's phone rang. It was the company car that had arrived, and the driver called, "Ms. Butler, I'm downstairs!"
Amara said, "Okay."
She hung up the phone and looked at Kingsley. "I'm heading down now!"
Kingsley still walked her downstairs. In the elevator, he gently brushed her hair aside and said tenderly, "Bring Jesse to the Hawkins Mansion for dinner tonight!"
Amara obediently nodded. Kingsley glanced at the red numbers on the elevator wall, then leaned in, his voice suddenly husky. "Amara, you're really driving me crazy!"
Amara blushed hearing his words. Before she could respond, the elevator reached the first floor, and the driver was already waiting by the car. Kingsley opened the car door for her with great elegance and gave her a gentle kiss.
The driver's eyes widened at the sight of Amara and Kingsley being together.
Had Amara been with Kingsley from the Hawkins Group all day?
Thinking he had discovered some unspeakable insider information, the driver got into the car, his legs feeling weak.
At the airport, Amara led a group of about 20 Carter Group employees, all lined up and waiting for Briana's arrival, each with a serious expression.
Briana got off the private jet, visibly annoyed not to see Landon. "Where's Landon?"
Amara smiled slightly. "I'm here on behalf of Mr. Carter to pick you up!"
Briana, always proud, glanced at Amara and sneered. "You? Only Landon's wife can represent him!"
Amara lowered her eyes. "Mrs. Phoebe Carter is currently in the hospital and might not be able to come."
Briana was very unhappy. "Smooth talker! No wonder Landon trained you! I heard you have similar backgrounds. It seems you two really understand each other! You must have intervened quite a bit in Landon's affair with that lover, right?"
Amara remained humble. "I wouldn't dare accept such a statement."
Briana sneered. "Wouldn't dare? Is there anything you wouldn't dare to do?"
Briana wanted to throw a tantrum, but a confidant whispered in her ear, "This morning, Ms. Butler registered her marriage with Kingsley Hawkins! She's about to become a daughter-in-law of the Hawkins Family."
Briana was shocked and then moved a bit awkwardly. Then she forced a smile. "Forget it! I'll talk to Landon."
Amara extended her hand. "Please get in the car, Mrs. Carter!"
The Carter Family wasn't as powerful as the Hawkins Family. Even if Briana wanted to make things difficult, she had to think twice. She didn't trouble Amara any further. Sure enough, what Briana truly wanted to deal with was Caitlyn.
Eight black sedans drove in a line to the private hospital.
An hour later, the cars stopped, and Briana, surrounded by people, went to the ward to visit her niece Phoebe. Seeing Phoebe's signs of a threatened miscarriage and the swelling on her face, Briana was furious.
"Where's Landon?" she shouted.
Phoebe lowered her eyes. "He has business to attend to. Aunt Briana, please don't blame him."
Briana said angrily, "Isn't his business supposed to be centered in Bostan? Why has he been in Syeattel for the past six months? Phoebe, you've been too lenient with him! Since you can't control him, I will!" After that, Briana stormed out.
"Aunt Briana!" Phoebe tried to get out of bed to chase after her, but she was too weak to catch up.
Amara stood there for a moment and then said softly, "Mrs. Phoebe Carter, you don't actually love Mr. Carter."
Her gaze shifted to Phoebe's belly.
Phoebe was startled and instinctively covered her abdomen, suspecting that Amara had figured something out.
Actually, Amara was just speculating. With Landon's age, even if he didn't love Phoebe, it was impossible for him to have no feelings for this baby, unless the baby wasn't his!
At this moment, Phoebe's expression said it all. Amara just sighed softly and left the ward.
In the hallway, she made a call to Landon. After a few rings, he picked up, and Amara said softly, "Mrs. Briana Carter might be going to see Caitlyn!"
Landon replied in a deep voice, "I'll handle it!"
After hanging up, he called Caitlyn, but was blocked. He grabbed his car keys and rushed to the Robinson Group's hotel.
By the time he arrived, Briana, being strong-willed all her life, had gotten there first. She had never been one to tolerate interference, and Caitlyn was no exception. The bodyguards she brought had made a mess of Caitlyn's office, and Caitlyn's secretary, who tried to call the police, was restrained.
Briana slowly walked up to Caitlyn. She lightly pinched Caitlyn's chin, looked her over, and sneered, "What a beauty!"
Caitlyn reminded Briana of Landon's mother, Jennifer.
Years ago, Jennifer had also captured all of her husband Matthew's attention with her beauty and temperament. Even after Jennifer discovered the deception and broke up with Matthew, he still thought about her and rarely had sex with her, leaving her childless. On his deathbed, Matthew even wanted Jennifer's illegitimate son to take over the Carter Group.
All of Briana's hatred was now directed at the young and beautiful Caitlyn. She slapped Caitlyn several times, hitting her so hard that Caitlyn was in great pain.
Caitlyn's secretary screamed in fear. Caitlyn, however, remained calm. She knew she couldn't resist now. Staring at Briana's face, she guessed her identity and sneered, "If you're so angry, shouldn't you dig up your husband's grave and scatter his ashes?"
Briana's face turned dark with anger.
Caitlyn laughed lightly. "Are you really standing up for Landon's wife? If you truly cared for her, knowing Landon has multiple lovers, why did you still marry her to him? You're so hypocritical!"
Briana became even angrier and shouted, "Strip her clothes off and make sure to take some photos."
In her younger days, Briana had dealt with the women who seduced Matthew in the same way. Upon hearing this, several bodyguards came over to grab Caitlyn.
Caitlyn screamed, "What are you doing? You old witch. If you dare touch me, I'll dig up your husband's grave and bury him with someone else, making you insanely jealous."
Briana was trembling with rage and was about to hit Caitlyn again when the office door was kicked open. Landon walked in from outside, his face dark and staring at Briana coldly.
Briana had clashed with him countless times. She sneered, "Finally, you show up!"
Seeing Caitlyn's swollen face and the arrogant Briana, Landon felt a surge of recklessness he thought he had outgrown. He slowly walked towards Briana, and when everyone least expected it, he slapped her. With that slap, Briana lost a tooth.
Her white hair fell loose, and she looked utterly disheveled, stunned for a long time.
After a while, Briana looked up in disbelief. "Landon, you dare hit me? Do you not want to be the president of the Carter Group anymore?"
Landon grabbed Briana by the collar, his expression one she had never seen before, dark and menacing. He said coldly, "I told you not to mess with her! But you wouldn't listen! If it weren't for my mother, I would beat you half to death right now and see if you can still cause trouble! Briana, I've tolerated you long enough!"
Briana pointed a finger at him but couldn't utter a word.
Landon threw her aside and said, "If you so much as lay a finger on Caitlyn, I'll make the Carter Group disappear from Bostan! I mean it! You can try me!"
Caitlyn heard everything clearly. She finally understood that Landon loved her, but so what? He had married someone else and had the child with her. She cried, her heart aching more than her face.
Landon slowly walked towards Caitlyn. Seeing the injuries on her face, he trembled as he reached out to touch her but hesitated. After a long pause, he called softly, "Caitlyn!"
