Chapter 578 Kingsley Met Amara

Even with Bobby tagging along with Angelina, Lola couldn't shake off her worry. She kept getting distracted.

Johnny, all sweaty, nuzzled and kissed the soft spot behind her ear, grumbling, "What's up? Still thinking about Angelina?"

As he hit his peak, another wave of desire washed over him, and he came.

Lola was a bit dazed by his actions.

It took her a moment to snap out of it. She placed her hands on his shoulders and just stared up at him.

Since they got back together, she hadn't really taken a good look at him.

He was way more mature now, in his early thirties, the prime age for a guy. Lola couldn't help but wonder if he had had other lovers over the years.

The last time he visited her law firm, he had a young actress with him. Did he sleep with her?

Lola always cared about that.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, her voice a bit shaky. "Johnny, what if I never came back?"

Johnny had never thought about that.

Syeattel was Lola's hometown; she would always come back. If she didn't, he thought he would go crazy.

If she didn't come back by the time he was 35, he would force her to return.

He would take over Vertex Innovations Group, deal with Kingsley and Gavin, and make Lola show up. Even if it was despicable, so what? He was that kind of guy. But luckily, she came back.

He kissed her and said softly, "I'd come find you! I'll always find you."

Lola smiled faintly.

Her eyes were filled with a charm that was completely different from the Lola he remembered. Johnny couldn't help but bite his cheek and tease her fiercely.

In the heat of the moment, he still wasn't satisfied.

He pressed against Lola, moaning huskily and seductively, "Lola, say you love me!"

Lola thought he was being greedy.

Last time she called him "hubby," and now he wanted her to say she loved him. She didn't want to say it.

She thought he would force her to say it like last time. But he didn't.

He leaned close to her ear, whispering seductive things.

Lola felt aroused as she listened. That night might have been the best sex they had since their reunion.

Afterward, Johnny turned over and held her in his arms, gently lifting her leg.

Their lips lightly touched.

Lola remained still, too lazy to move, letting him do as he pleased.

After ten minutes of tenderness, he carried her to wash up. The water wasn't very hot; Lola knew it was to increase her chances of getting pregnant.

Johnny really knew how to boost her chances of conceiving!

At the Hawkins Mansion, Kingsley was still standing on the terrace smoking. He usually didn't smoke much. But ever since Johnny showed him that photo, he always had something on his mind.

It had been quite a while. He had met many amazing women, some of them very charming.

He thought he should have forgotten that relationship, but he hadn't. Kingsley smiled self-deprecatingly.

He stubbed out the cigarette with his long fingers, grabbed a coat, and headed downstairs. It wasn't until he hit the first floor that anyone noticed him.

Frederick was sipping coffee in the dark.

The light flicked on, and Frederick snorted, "It's so late. Where are you off to?"

"Got an early meeting! Just checking things out in advance."

Frederick sneered. "You're really dedicated!"

Kingsley shrugged and walked out. Behind him, Frederick kept sipping his coffee, muttering, "Spring's almost over, and Kingsley's still so heartbroken!"

In the courtyard, a black Cullinan slowly rolled out.

The avenue at the entrance was brightly lit.

But no matter how bright the lights were, they couldn't lift Kingsley's mood. He drove with a blank expression, all the way to the apartment.

He parked, sat quietly in the car, and looked up at the top floor.

Ever since he found out about Amara's background, he hadn't been back.

Kingsley lit another cigarette.

Finally, he opened the car door and walked into the elevator.

Moments later, he opened the apartment door and walked in. Everything was the same, except Amara was gone.

The maid had cleared out the food in the fridge.

There used to be a few of Amara's things here: her small hand soap, a little hand cream, and some other small items.

At the time, he had told Rebecca, "I don't want to see anything related to Amara anymore."

Rebecca was always efficient.

Kingsley lightly touched the edge of the dining table, the back of the sofa, and the corners Amara had once touched. He thought of that night again.

They did everything but have sex. He explored every inch of her body, leaving nothing untouched.

Kingsley had seen his parents, Lola, and Johnny's relationships since he was young. He thought that her agreeing to his intimate advances meant that she liked him!

Amara was a liar!

Kingsley slightly tilted his head back, his face becoming stern, and then he left.

He slept in the car that night. In the morning, he drove straight to the company.

At nine in the morning, when Rebecca came in to report work, there was no sign that Kingsley had been up all night. She placed the documents to be approved on the desk and finally smiled. "Regarding the team-building event you mentioned, the administration department has arranged it. The location is Aurora City. The air is fresh, and the environment is great, perfect for a company retreat."

Kingsley didn't catch the location.

He rubbed his forehead and said indifferently, "Once it's decided, send the time and place to my email."

"Yes, Mr. Hawkins!" Rebecca finished and left.

In the afternoon, Kingsley received the email. The time was set for eight o'clock the next morning, and the company employees would take a bus together.

Normally, Kingsley wouldn't participate in these activities. But he thought he should take a break.

The news that Kingsley would join the team-building event spread like wildfire through the Hawkins Group, and all the female employees were buzzing with excitement.

Kingsley was still single.

If someone like Amara could catch Kingsley's eye, why couldn't they?

There were 18 different rumors about Amara floating around the company.

But none of them were true. No one ever guessed that Kingsley was the one who got dumped, losing both love and money.

The team-building event was set for two days, and Kingsley only brought a small travel bag.

Rebecca had arranged for a new secretary to handle some of Kingsley's affairs.

Coincidentally, the new secretary's last name was also Butler. Her name was Dina Butler.

Dina was pretty cute, and Kingsley gave her a quick glance before handing over his luggage indifferently.

Dina smiled slightly. "Mr. Hawkins, take a rest for a while. I'll call you when we arrive."

Dina was poised and confident, quite the opposite of Amara, who was timid and easily frightened.

With his noble status, sitting there with his eyes closed, no one on the bus dared to make a sound, let alone sing for entertainment. They were even afraid to drink water for fear of choking.

But the female colleagues still touched up their makeup from time to time, hoping Kingsley would notice them.

Four hours later, the bus arrived in Stellaria City.

The Hawkins Group's team-building event was conducted in batches. With Kingsley accompanying this group, they booked the best five-star hotel in Stellaria City.

The crystal chandeliers in the hotel's lobby were dazzling. But they couldn't outshine Kingsley's presence. The hotel staff already knew who he was, and some even secretly took photos with their phones.

"Mr. Hawkins is so handsome!"

"I really want to hook up with Mr. Hawkins."

Even in the café on the first floor, most people's attention was drawn to Kingsley. After all, he was wealthy and handsome.

Amidst the whispers, Amara's eyes were vacant, and she even forgot the plate in her hand when she saw Kingsley.

She had thought about meeting him again, but she imagined it would be when she went to repay the money, and he might already have children, accompanied by a virtuous wife. But not now, it was too soon; she hadn't even gathered $50,000.

The cup and saucer in her hand shattered on the ground.

The sudden sound startled many people, including Kingsley, who was surrounded by admirers.

Kingsley was sitting on the sofa, looking at emails on his phone.

When he heard the noise, he frowned.

He always disliked careless people!

But when he looked up, he saw Amara, the one who had betrayed his feelings.

Kingsley and Amara's eyes met.

Kingsley was still as noble and unapproachable as before, but Amara's status was even more humble than before.

The gap between their statuses had widened.

Amara's face was pale. Even her lips were trembling. She wanted to go up and apologize or say something else, but Kingsley's gaze quickly moved away.

His eyes were so cold, like he had never known her and never cared about her.

Amara lowered her eyes, feeling a warm tear glisten.

The duty manager also heard the noise and rushed over. She usually appreciated Amara, who was sincere, hardworking, and different from the other female employees.

But today, with such important guests, Amara made a big mistake. The manager was a bit upset and scolded softly, "Hurry up and clean it! If someone complains to the head office, even I will get reprimanded."

Amara choked up and said, "I'll clean it right away."

She immediately squatted down and picked up the shards with her hands, putting them into the trash can.

The shards cut her hand, and blood oozed out, but she didn't feel the pain.

She only knew she had to clean it up quickly.

She didn't want to be seen like this by Kingsley, even if they had no relationship now, except for the $800,000 she owed him.

As she was cleaning, she didn't notice that Kingsley had turned his head to her again.

He noticed the fresh blood on her fingertips. She was much thinner than before and looked extremely haggard.

Kingsley's gaze deepened.

Was this the life she was living these days?

If she were doing a little better, he would have nothing left but hatred for her. But seeing her in this pitiful state, he was conflicted.

Amara finished picking up the shards.

She fetched a small mop to clean the floor, but the manager immediately said, "There are guests here. How can you use a mop? Use a cloth and kneel to clean it, and try not to disturb the guests."

The manager added, "If you can't do it well, don't bother!"

Amara softly said, "I can do it well!"

She immediately switched to a cloth. Ignoring the strange looks from others, she knelt and wiped the stains on the floor until the tiles were sparkling clean.

After finishing, she washed her hands and continued taking orders and serving coffee.

She didn't dare to look at Kingsley again because Kingsley and she were never in the same league. Today was just a coincidence. If he wanted to ask her for money, she would first gather $50,000.

Finally, she couldn't help but glance over.

He was still there, but he had moved to the smoking area, leaning against a sofa, smoking. He looked sexy and handsome.

His gaze was deep, looking over here.

He looked at Amara with mockery and indifference.

After a moment, Dina walked over and said in a soft voice, "Mr. Hawkins, your presidential suite is ready! I'll be staying in the outermost room."

Kingsley stubbed out his cigarette and said nothing.

He walked ahead, and someone called out, "Ms. Butler."

Amara was startled, but when she looked up, she saw the petite secretary responding.

So, her last name was also Butler!

Kingsley wanted to tell Amara that she had been replaced, that she meant nothing to him.

Kingsley entered the elevator.

Dina followed him in, about to speak, but Kingsley pressed the open button and said coldly, "Get yourself another room. I don't share rooms with secretaries!"
