Chapter 396 Can I Never Be Forgiven

Charlotte had this gut feeling something was off with Frederick.

Usually, he couldn't keep it together for long, but now he was acting all weird.

She tilted her neck just a bit.

Those delicate lines drove him nuts, and her soft, tender skin was like a magnet.

"Damn, you smell amazing!" Frederick said, his nose brushing against her skin, all impatient-like.

Charlotte could feel the heat radiating off him.

She gently pushed him away.

"What's up?" Frederick's hands were all over her lower abdomen. "Is the baby giving you trouble?"

Charlotte wrapped her arms around his shoulders.

She lowered her head and said, "Nope, it's you who's bugging me!"

Frederick leaned in, his nose touching hers, and asked in a low voice, "Not in the mood?"

Being married to him for so long, Charlotte didn't hide her feelings. She bit his lip and said, "Kinda want it, kinda don't."

Frederick chuckled and stopped, but he still held her close.

He started talking about the baby and Chloe's wedding.

He went on and on, and finally, Charlotte couldn't help but say, "Frederick, are you trying to ask about Landon?"

Frederick paused for a sec.

Then he smiled. "Landon's not even on my radar!"

Charlotte knew it was about Oliver.

She thought for a moment and realized it was Lola who had tipped him off.

No matter how she treated her, Lola always sided with Frederick. As a mom, she felt both angry and sweet. What could be better than raising a lovely kid together?

This feeling even beat romantic love.

Charlotte gently pushed him away.

She sat at the vanity and slowly combed her long blonde hair, which she had taken great care of, making it super shiny.

Frederick didn't bug her.

He leaned lazily against the headboard, watching her.

As she combed her hair, Charlotte said softly, "It was just a random encounter; why are you so worked up? Besides, we only talked business."

She explained the situation with Oliver.

Frederick smirked. "A private conversation, huh?"

He added, "You two even chat privately!" As he said this, he gently pulled her over.

Charlotte lay beneath him.

Her cheeks flushed. "Frederick!"

Frederick didn't say anything more, nor did he interrogate her. He just made love to her, slow and intense, making her almost painfully uncomfortable.

Finally, he lay beside her sweaty neck and whispered, "Charlotte, I'm jealous!"

Charlotte looked up, gazing at her husband.

At that moment, Frederick was indescribably sexy.

With company anniversary coming up, Frederick was swamped with company stuff.

Vertex Innovations Group wasn't planning a big celebration this year. As the president, Frederick would say a few words and have a meal with everyone, and that would be it.

Charlotte didn't go.

She was at Hawkins Mansion in Chloe's room, watching Chloe pack her things.

Charlotte smiled. "You're way better at housework than before!"

Chloe looked up at her.

She was about to get married, and her eyes were captivating. She said softly, "Charlotte, you're starting to sound more and more like my dad."

Charlotte couldn't help but laugh. "No way!"

Chloe, in a cute manner, said, "You totally do! Especially when you're bossing me around."

Hearing this, Charlotte felt a softness in her heart.

She got up and gently hugged Chloe. "You're about to get married, but you still look like a little girl!"

Chloe's eyes also got moist. She pretended not to care and shouted, "I'm older than you!"

Charlotte smiled gently. She asked softly, "Is Andrew good to you?"

Chloe wasn't as spirited as before and got a bit quiet. She said softly, "Sometimes he's great; sometimes not so much!"

But she loved him!

When she loved someone, she unconditionally compromised.

Charlotte didn't say anything more and gently patted her head.

At this tender moment, Lily called.

Chloe said, "You take the call. I'll keep packing."

Charlotte grinned and answered, "Lily, what's up? What made you think of me?"

Lily said, "Tina just called me. Guess what? She wants to invite us for coffee, meaning she wants to make up with us."

Charlotte lowered her eyes and smirked, as expected.

Tina wanted to use them to boost her image to marry into the Carter family.

Lily said, "Tina must be dreaming! We're not having coffee with her!"

"I'll go!"

"What?" Lily couldn't believe her ears and asked again, "Charlotte, are you kidding? Ever since Ethan died, you dislike her even more than I do."

Charlotte smiled faintly.

Having known her for many years, Lily knew she had other plans and lowered her voice. "Do you suspect she did those things?"

Charlotte didn't hide it and softly said, "Yes."

Lily was silent for a moment and then said, "Charlotte, I'll back you up!"

She paused and then said somewhat repressively, "Thinking about what she did to us, we can't let her off easy!"

Charlotte hung up the phone.

Chloe looked at her. "You're going to meet Tina? Frederick won't agree."

Charlotte went over to help her fold a piece of clothing and smiled. "You're about to get married; why worry so much? Don't worry; I'll tell Frederick."

Chloe, being naive, said, "Don't lie to me! You will tell Frederick, right?"

Charlotte smiled. "In a few days, there's an F1 race. I'll take you to watch it."

She then, in front of Chloe, dialed Frederick.

On the phone, Frederick agreed.

He said, "Let Chloe go with you!"

So, Chloe tagged along with Charlotte to the coffee shop.

Tina and Lily arrived first.

The two women didn't get along and didn't show each other any kindness, especially Lily.

When Charlotte and Chloe arrived, Lily's mood improved a bit.

Tina's target was Charlotte.

She personally pulled out a chair for Charlotte, her attitude very soft. "You're pregnant. You must be tired."

"Not really!" Charlotte smiled faintly.

Lily admired Charlotte.

Tina was the enemy, yet Charlotte could still smile at her!

At this moment, Tina looked at Chloe uncomfortably. "Charlotte, you still don't trust me. Are you afraid I'll harm you by bringing someone along?"

Chloe was about to speak.

Charlotte gently stopped her and smiled calmly. "It's Frederick's idea! What? Tina, did you plan to harm me?"

Tina found it hard to respond.

She wanted to please Charlotte, but Charlotte wasn't receptive.

That was right; if Charlotte had immediately made up with her, that would be abnormal.

High-society ladies always had a bit of pride.

Tina awkwardly called the waiter, "What kind of coffee would you like?"

Charlotte didn't speak.

Chloe said, "Just plain water! Charlotte is pregnant!"

The waiter left.

Tina smiled. "Sorry, I forgot! Charlotte, you're five months pregnant, right?"

Charlotte nodded.

Tina whispered, "I was once pregnant too! I was a mother once."

Lily couldn't hold back. She stood up and pointed at Tina, cursing, "You have the nerve to talk about children! Tina, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had such a fallout with Robert!"

Tina glanced at her. "Aren't you happy now?"

"That's a different matter, okay?"

Lily's chest heaved violently. "You deceived Robert, wronged everyone, and ended up having a child. Who did you do right by? And did you abandon that child or kill it?"

Tina's face turned pale.

Charlotte gently pulled Lily's hand. "Calm down for a bit."

Lily, in her anger, gently shook off her hand.

The coffee shop's lights were warm and yellow.

Tina's lips trembled as she said, "Lily, that's all in the past! I've repented. Do making a mistake mean I can never turn over a new leaf? Can I never be forgiven?"

Lily was somewhat stubborn. "Yes! That's how it is for me!"

Her impulsive nature couldn't hold back, and she ended up falling out with Tina.

Everyone left in a bad mood.

The coffee was served, and Tina sat alone, watching it quietly as it grew cold.
