Chapter 25: He Seems to Regret It

When Charlotte got his messages, her face turned red; she knew exactly what he meant.

Who would've thought Frederick could be this bad?

Just as Charlotte was about to transfer the $22,600 to him, another message popped up.
[Take it! Consider it an apology from Chloe.]

Charlotte stared at the message for a long time, feeling a sudden pang of envy for Chloe.

Ethan didn't leave right away.

He was outside when Frederick pinned Charlotte to the hospital bed and kissed her.

Ethan had seen how captivating Charlotte looked when she kissed. His whole body tensed with anger.

When Charlotte finally couldn't hold back and let out a soft sound, Ethan couldn't take it anymore and punched the wall opposite him.

Blood splattered.

Ethan's hand was covered in blood.

But he seemed to feel no pain, standing still with a face as cold as ice.

For a moment, Ethan wanted to storm into the room and take Charlotte away right in front of Frederick. But he knew that if he took one step inside, his engagement to Chloe would be over.

Everything he had worked so hard for would disappear in an instant!

Ethan suddenly left and drove to a somewhat old apartment complex.

He had lived there for two years, and the security guard still remembered him. As his car drove in, the guard greeted him warmly, "Mr. Cooper, welcome back!"

Ethan nodded without expression.

He went upstairs and opened a door. The 800-square-foot apartment held all his memories with Charlotte.

Back then, the Cooper Group was on the brink of bankruptcy, and the Cooper family was crammed into this old house. Forget about living the high life; even the dignified Daisy Roberts had to haggle at the market for cheap groceries. They were barely scraping by.

Charlotte often visited to cook for him and even offered financial help, all to save his pride.

She was such a fool!
She thought Ethan loved her, but he had always been using her.

Charlotte never figured it out!

Even now, Charlotte believed William Russell was dragged down by her. She never knew that years ago, William was the person Ethan had chosen, and Charlotte was just a tool to gain William's trust.

This tool was so foolish that Ethan couldn't bear to let her go in the end.

Even after achieving success, where else could he find such a naive woman who loved him?

He wanted to have her by his side, to cook for him, to gently massage his forehead when he was tired, and maybe even allow her to have his child.

Even if it meant finding someone else to replace William, it would be troublesome.

Ethan walked to the balcony, took out a cigarette, and smoked slowly. After about four or five cigarettes, he called his secretary, Gemma Edwards.

"Any updates on William? Is Michael still handling the case?"

Gemma replied, "Yes."

Ethan gave a few cold instructions.

Gemma was shocked. She had worked for Ethan for a long time and knew about his relationship with Charlotte. She couldn't help but plead for Charlotte, "Mr. Cooper, Miss Russell..."

Ethan's tone was icy. "Do as I say! Get it done cleanly."

Gemma was silent for a moment, then agreed.
