Chapter 744 Lola, Let's Be a Real Couple 2

Soon, they arrived at the hospital.

Frederick woke up, feeling a bit disoriented after the plasma transfusion. As he opened his eyes, he turned to Charlotte and asked, "Where are Lola, Kingsley, Sienna, and Johnny?"After the severe car accident, Frederick sustained a moderate concussion. At the moment he woke up, he had forgotten about his fallout with Johnny.

His mind was filled with concern for his children.

Kingsley couldn't bear to listen any longer. He clenched his fists, bit his lip, and walked out the door.

Amara followed him.

She found Kingsley in the smoking area, leaning on his hips, lost in thought without a cigarette. She noticed the tears in his eyes. Hearing her footsteps, Kingsley turned away to wipe his eyes. He said to Amara, "That jerk Johnny is using this situation to threaten Lola! He must be demanding that she get back together with him."

What could he say?

It was not entirely accurate to say Johnny was heartless, as he had donated the plasma immediately.

But to say he was not heartless was also misleading; he could play mind games and scheme in situations like this, which was something Kingsley couldn't do.

Amara gently held his arm and whispered, "I can see Dad still cares about him. When Johnny comes, try to keep your temper in check."

Kingsley wanted to say more but stopped when he saw her calm face.

He just patted her hand. "I know."

As they were talking, Lola and Johnny arrived.

Lola, still weak from childbirth, was supported by Johnny, looking close, which stung Kingsley's eyes. He knew what Johnny would demand.

His eyes reddened, but he remembered Amara's words.

Kingsley's first words were, "Dad's okay now, Johnny. Thank you."

His second words were, "You can ask for anything, even shares of the Hawkins Group, but... don't make things hard for Lola."

His voice was tight as he spoke.

Amara held his arm worriedly.

Johnny paused, looking at Lola, then turned to Amara. "Amara, could you take Lola inside to see Dad? I need to talk to Kingsley."

Amara hesitated.

Kingsley stared at Johnny but spoke to Amara. "Take Lola inside."

Lola was about to speak when Kingsley interrupted her, saying, "Let's go check on Dad first. He just woke up and was already mentioning both of you!"

Johnny's face showed a slight change at these words.

Kingsley noticed that.

Once Lola and Amara left, Kingsley took off his suit jacket and grabbed Johnny by the collar, his voice tight. "Dad just woke up and called your name. He doesn't say it, but we all know he still worries you his son. But you? You use life-saving plasma to threaten a woman you've hurt deeply!"

"Have you forgotten how Dad gave you so much blood when you were injured as a kid?"

"Have you forgotten how he taught you back then?"

Johnny knew all this. Without Frederick, there would be no Johnny today.

But what could he do?

He was a despicable person. He valued the bond of upbringing, but he also loved Lola.

This was his only chance.

Johnny pushed Kingsley away, straightened his clothes, and laughed. "If you want to fight, let's set a time. Fighting in a hospital is beneath us! Besides, Kingsley, you don't need to worry. Lola and I have an agreement for only 60 days. I'm not afraid she won't comply because if she doesn't, I'll get full custody of the kids, and she won't even have visitation rights."

Kingsley knew Johnny was trying to provoke him.

But he couldn't help but curse, "You bastard."

Johnny clicked his tongue and smiled. "If we're not fighting, I need to see Dad. Didn't you say he was thinking about me?"

Kingsley remained silent.

In this life, only Johnny could infuriate Kingsley like this.

When Johnny entered the hospital room, his demeanor changed naturally.

He knew Lola's temperament. She wouldn't tell Frederick about their agreement; she'd only speak something positive. Sure enough, as soon as he entered, he saw Lola talking to Frederick softly. "I'm planning to give it another try with Johnny, Dad. Don't worry."

But how could Frederick believe that?

He knew there must be some secret behind it!

Just as he was about to say something, Johnny walked in. He glanced around the room and then respectfully greeted, "Mom, Dad." Seeing Amara bringing water, he naturally took it and said, "I'll help Dad drink."

Amara hesitated slightly.

Lola gently touched Frederick's hair and softly said, "Let him do it. Dad's been thinking about him."

The atmosphere in the room was subtle. Everyone knew they were putting on a show, but since Lola had decided, everyone had to play along, even though it made them feel uneasy.

Charlotte was worried about Lola, and said, "Go wash your face. You look exhausted."

Lola replied, "Okay."

With the door closed, Charlotte's voice choked, "What you're doing won't help your dad get better, and it will only lead you into trouble."

Lola wiped her face with warm water.

After a moment, she said, "It's just two months. He said he wouldn't force me to stay afterward. This time, I believe he's telling the truth. Mom, I had no choice back then. I couldn't gamble on Johnny's character. I don't know what lengths he'll go to keep me now."

Charlotte felt a pang of sadness.

Her relationship with Frederick and the other children, despite its ups and downs, always retained a sense of reason. Only Johnny was like a moth to a flame, reckless and desperate.

Lola squeezed her hand.

She whispered, "I also want to give him a chance, a chance to let go completely."

When he finally gave up, it would be better for both of them.

They talked for a while. Charlotte, worried about the newborn Stella, suggested Lola go home to rest soon. "These are serious injuries, and you just gave birth. It's not good for you."

Lola said, "I'll stay with Dad a bit longer."

When they opened the door, Frederick was talking to Johnny. Amara was peeling an apple for Frederick, treating him like her own father since she didn't have one.

Surprisingly, Frederick didn't mention Lola.

He calmly talked about Vertex Innovations Group, about why he left the legal field and founded the company.

Johnny listened quietly.

He wasn't stupid. He understood what Frederick was implying.

Amara almost forgot to peel the apple, wondering if Frederick really had a concussion. Shouldn't someone with a concussion be dizzy and disoriented? How could he still play mind games?

Finally, Frederick said, "Lola just had a baby, and I've been in an accident. Johnny, you'll need to take care of Vertex Innovations Group for a while."

Johnny quickly replied, "Don't worry, Dad! I'll handle it."

At that moment, Lola came over, and he glanced at her.

Frederick, having talked for a while, was exhausted. He closed his eyes. "You all should go home. Your mom can stay with me. Facing life and death, I realized there are many things I haven't told her... things I want to say..."

Before he finished, he closed his eyes, utterly tired.

Lola blinked back tears and said goodbye to Charlotte. "Mom, we'll go now."
