Chapter 225 Lola, Don't Scare Me!
Frederick rolled back to the villa.
This place was a swanky spot developed by Vertex Innovations Group, with killer security and mad privacy. He kept one villa for himself.
The black Maybach cruised through the fancy gate. As the car rolled in, all the lights in the villa flicked on, and the music fountain started doing its thing, spraying water and making happy sounds.
Frederick parked the car and stepped out. The servant, Dana Davis, came over. "Lola's not talking again."
Frederick handed her his coat and strolled under a tree in the moonlight.
He squatted down next to little Lola, looking at her with all the love in the world. Her golden, slightly wavy hair flowed over her shoulders. Her face was fair and tender, with bright eyes, a delicate nose, and a small mouth pouting in displeasure.
Her tiny fair hands were plucking leaves, one by one.
Frederick tried talking to her, but she was in her own world, totally ignoring him.
He didn't pick her up, just squatted there beside her. At ten-thirty, Lola suddenly threw herself into his arms. "Today, a kid said I don't have a mom!"
Frederick scooped Lola up and headed home. He patted her little head. "You have a mom. She's a beauty just like you!"
He placed Lola in front of the dining table.
Dana quickly set the table and served hot food, feeling really sorry for her!
Lola was starving, holding the bowl herself and scooping food with a spoon, making a mess.
After eating, she looked at Frederick. "I want a mom! Other kids have one, I want one too!"
Frederick carried little Lola upstairs.
Lola dawdled, filling the bathtub herself. After her bath, she snuggled into her Dad's arms.
Frederick helped her dry her hair.
He looked super loving. "Lola, if you want a mom, you gotta find one yourself!"
Lola felt something was off! If she had to find a mom herself, what was her dad for?
Frederick looked calm. "I'm gonna send you to piano lessons. There are lots of pretty female teachers there. Find one with hair like yours and who looks nice, and ask her to be your mom! But don't say your name is Lola, and don't say who your dad is!"
Lola didn't get it.
Frederick gave her a reasonable explanation. "If they know who your Dad is, they'll like your Dad, not genuinely like you! Just like your previous teacher!"
Lola thought her Dad made sense!
Before hitting the sack, Lola looked in the mirror. 'Golden hair, a beauty just like me—that's mom!'
Charlotte had actually stopped teaching.
But early in the morning, Bernice called her from Vienner, saying a friend's kid needed her special care.
Charlotte wanted to ask more. Bernice said, "I need to take my medicine! Let's talk later!"
The call ended, and Charlotte felt helpless. She thought about it and decided to go to the music studio.
The identity was pretty hush-hush. Charlotte guessed it was some big shot's kid, so she waited.
At five in the afternoon, the receptionist came over, smiling. "Ms. Russell, the kid is here. Please go take a look!"
Charlotte didn't think much of it. She put down her report and walked into the reception room.
The kid was brought by Dana, surprisingly small and super cute.
Charlotte wanted to refuse because the kid was too young to learn piano. But when the kid turned around, Charlotte was stunned.
She had golden hair and a fair, tender little face. She was incredibly beautiful!
She looked a lot like her.
Charlotte's throat felt tight. She almost lost it, reaching out with a shaky hand to touch the kid.
Lola was even more pumped!
Lola stared at her golden hair and pretty face. She was so beautiful, just like a mom made for her!
Lola generously let her touch her face.
Not only did she let her touch, but she also snuggled into Charlotte's arms.
Her small, sharp chin rested on Charlotte's shoulder. "My name is Cici."
'Cici.' Charlotte was taken aback.
She liked Lola a lot, almost couldn't let go, but after the excitement, she had to follow the procedure. "What's your dad's name?"
Little Lola's beautiful eyes filled with tears. "My dad sells eggs. People call him a bad man! My mom is gone, and dad is very busy. I have no one to take care of me!"
A few words painted a picture of a pitiful child.
Charlotte felt super sorry for her.
She wiped Lola's tears. At that moment, her heart softened incredibly.
Without thinking, she decided to take Lola in.
Lola was too small; she needed to hold her to sit at the piano.
Lola clung to her, her little face beaming with happiness. Charlotte taught her, but she didn't hear a word.
Charlotte couldn't let her waste time. So she sternly asked Lola to demonstrate what she had just taught.
Lola responded with an "oh." Her fair fingers moved across the keys.
Charlotte was shocked.
This kid had such high talent that she couldn't believe it. She was the best student she had ever taught, even better than young Charlotte.
She was still in shock when little Lola, with her golden curls, asked sweetly, "Ms. Russell, is this right?"
'Ms. Russell?' For some reason, Charlotte suddenly thought of Frederick.
When they first met, he always teasingly called her 'Ms. Russell'.
Charlotte thought she was overthinking.
How could she think that Cici had anything to do with Frederick? Charlotte didn't dare to think further. She held Lola and continued teaching her some basic finger techniques.
After one lesson, Lola was very satisfied. Although learning piano was boring, she was one step closer to her goal.
Charlotte took her out of the piano room and handed her over to Dana. She was still reluctant to part. "Cici, see you next Friday!"
Lola was very pleased with her.
She obediently let the servant take her downstairs.
Charlotte liked her so much that she escorted her downstairs, where a black stretch Lincoln was parked, luxurious and grand. Lola got into the car, actually wanting to take her new mom home today.
'But “Ms. Russell” might not be willing.' she thought silently in her little head.
She had to take it slow.
Lola waved obediently, and the driver closed the door.
On the other side of the back seat, Frederick sat, looking very formal in a suit, flipping through documents and casually asking, "Did you find her?"
Lola climbed onto her Dad's lap and whispered, "Dad, you like her!"
Frederick still pretended to be indifferent. "Really? Is it obvious?"
Lola didn't say anything.
Lola quietly lay on Frederick's shoulder. After a long time, she asked softly, "Dad, is she my real mom?"
Frederick's eyes suddenly became moist. He lightly hummed in response.
Lola snuggled into his arms. After a long time, Frederick said, "Don't scare your Mom just yet, okay?"
