Chapter 325 Stay in My Room Tonight (Part 2)
When she finally woke up, it was already evening.
The setting sun was streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows, painting the couple in bed with a soft, golden glow.
Andrew had been up for a while. Seeing her eyes flutter open, he leaned in, gave her a gentle kiss, and said, "Catch some more Z's; I'll holler when dinner's ready!"
He said this while getting out of bed and throwing on his clothes.
He had a ton of stuff to handle, and Nathan had been waiting for him in the study forever, but he just couldn't leave her alone, worried she'd feel weird waking up solo.
He really treasured Chloe. Even though he couldn't always be around, he tried to do everything he could for her.
Chloe felt a bit shy. She pulled the blanket around her, leaning on the pillow to watch him.
Andrew finished dressing, bent down to kiss her, and then flashed a light smile.
After he left, she didn't dare to sleep anymore.
She got up to check on Charlotte, then went to chat with Adeline for a bit. Adeline was a cool elder and didn't hold any grudges against her. Plus, the Devereux family didn't have many girls, so she was pretty cherished.
In the evening, when Andrew wrapped up his work and came back, he saw Chloe helping his mom pick vegetables.
Adeline was still saying, "These are homegrown. No pesticides."
He pushed aside the vines overhead and walked over, teasing on purpose, "You don't usually share these veggies with just anyone."
Adeline sneered. She said to Chloe, "Don't listen to Andrew's nonsense!"
The sky grew darker.
Adeline personally cooked, with Chloe by her side. Andrew, who rarely cooked, also hung out in the kitchen.
After dinner, they headed back to their rooms.
At the door, Andrew led her into his bedroom.
Andrew's bedroom was super spacious.
Chloe looked stunned.
Andrew pinched her nose. "Surprised?"
She said a bit embarrassedly, "I never thought my boyfriend's room would be like this."
She was being polite.
What she really meant was that he was older.
Andrew got it and smiled. He went to pour her a glass of water.
When she took it, he said, "Shall we continue tonight?"
Chloe immediately wilted. 'He is lustful!'
She was much younger than him and knew how to be soft. She circled behind him, gently hugging him and calling Andrew sweetly. Andrew held her hand with one hand and drank the water.
In fact, he had a lot of work. It was rare for him to have free time in the afternoon, and now he had no time for fooling around.
Chloe didn't complain either.
While he was grinding away in the study, she just chilled quietly by his side.
Every now and then, Andrew would look up and ask her to grab something. Chloe happily ran around for him.
He worked until 11 PM.
Finally, he had time to press Chloe onto the bed, teasing and playing with her.
Just as things were heating up, there was a knock on the door, and Adeline's voice came from outside. "Andrew, are you still up? I brought you some food!"
The door lock was already turning.
The person on the bed froze.
Chloe's eyes widened, and she whispered, "What should we do?"
Andrew quickly tucked her into the blanket, kicked her slippers under the bed, and sat by the bed, looking like he was about to crash.
Adeline came in and, seeing her son's appearance, said, "You ready to sleep?"
Andrew smiled lightly. "Yeah! It's been a busy day!"
Adeline sat down.
She was in the mood to chat with Andrew tonight, which was tough for Chloe. She was almost suffocating under the blanket, wanting to move but Andrew held her head with his legs, his hand reaching under the blanket to comfort her.
Adeline finally left.
When the door closed, Chloe crawled out from under the blanket, her eyes teary. "Andrew, I couldn't breathe!"
Andrew gently pulled her out, held her in his arms, and looked at her carefully for a long time before softly asking, "Do you like it here?"
Chloe blushed.
What was there to like or dislike?
Andrew didn't ask further. He took the food his mom brought and shared it with her.
After finishing one bowl, she wasn't satisfied and demanded more.
Andrew pinched her cheek. "Should I wake Adeline up to make you another one?"
He was really annoying, so she jumped on him and hit him.
After a while, she hugged his neck, still saying she was hungry. Andrew kissed her. "I've never seen anyone more troublesome than you! I'll make you something!"
"You can cook?" She hugged him obediently.
Andrew smiled, put on his shoes, and went out, unexpectedly running into Adeline in the kitchen.
Adeline was quite surprised to see Andrew.
Andrew lit a cigarette, opened the fridge to find something. "I didn't eat enough and want to make some more food!"
Adeline couldn't bear to let Andrew do it himself.
While cooking, she scolded her son, "You're not young anymore; you should eat less and take care of your figure, or how will you find a wife?"
When it was done, Adeline handed it to him.
Andrew left with the food, grinning halfway.
Dating days were always sweet.
Their relationship hadn't gone public yet. Andrew planned to hang out with her here for a bit longer before sending her back to Syeattel.
As for the future, they'd take it slow.
Chloe had been cooped up at home for two or three days and wanted to go out shopping and buy gifts for Charlotte and Adeline. She heard that the apple pie in Copenhegan was pretty famous.
Given Andrew's special status, Nathan tagged along while she shopped. Andrew was chilling in the car, going through some documents.
Unexpectedly, he ran into May.
She was an old colleague of Andrew's, with a significant position. She had just finished eating and saw Andrew's car parked by the roadside. Knowing that Andrew's future position was bound to be much higher than hers, she valued her relationship with him.
She walked over and knocked on the car window.
Andrew naturally got out of the car.
May greeted with a smile, "I saw your car from afar and didn't expect it to really be you!"
Andrew was about to say something when Chloe ran over with several bags, her face flushed.
May couldn't help but take a few more glances.
Chloe was really beautiful. May happened to have a son, so she cleared her throat and asked, "Andrew, who is this?"
Andrew didn't want his colleagues to know about his private affairs, so he smiled and said, "She's my younger relative."
For some reason, Chloe felt a bit uncomfortable. So, in his world, he couldn't introduce her as his girlfriend?
Her feelings were written all over her face.
On the way back, Andrew tried to coax her a bit, but he was already considering whether he should send her back to Syeattel first. Given his status, he couldn't be openly with her before their relationship was confirmed. If anything went wrong, it would greatly affect Chloe.
But Chloe guessed his thoughts. That night, as they were going to sleep, she softly lay in his arms and whispered, "I won't go out anymore! Please don't send me back to Syeattel, okay?"
Andrew looked down at her silently.
Chloe hugged his neck and whispered, "I like staying here."
They rarely had the chance to be together.
He couldn't always go to Seattle. They had known each other for over a year but had only spent a few days together.
Andrew's heart softened.
He lowered his head and kissed her.
His long fingers gently pulled open her bathrobe under the blanket, the delicate touch immediately igniting his desire. She didn't know if it was her imagination, but he seemed a bit rough tonight.
Afterward, she clung to him softly.
Andrew gently patted her body.
Neither of them wanted to sleep.
She raised her hand to touch his features and asked softly, "Andrew, why aren't you married yet?"
Andrew chuckled lightly. "What do you think?"
After saying that, he pulled her into his arms.
She lay against his chest, her heart beating fast, and shamelessly said, "I think you're waiting for me to grow up! When I grow up, you'll have a bride!"
Andrew suddenly became more interested. He reached under the blanket, teasing her in a hoarse voice, "Let me see if you've grown up. Don't lie to me!"
When he was in a good mood, he was quite the charming rascal.
Chloe was held on top of him, slowly and methodically taught for a long time. She cried and fussed, wanting to get down, but he wouldn't let her, changing ways to tease her.
Lola's fate was still uncertain, and their relationship remained secretive.
Not long after, Chloe had to go back.
The night before she left, she was teary-eyed.
Andrew patted her head. "Don't worry about these things!"
But he himself felt a bit sad too. How he wished she could always stay with him.
In the past, Adeline was always unwell. Now, she went to the market every day with a basket, picking out Chloe's favorite food. Andrew knew Adeline had noticed but just didn't say anything.
That night, he sat in the study for a long time.
Adeline brought in some water, sat for a bit, seemingly wanting to ask something but ultimately didn't. She firmly believed that any girl Andrew brought home was someone he was serious about.
She also liked Chloe quite a bit.
Adeline thought that perhaps the family would soon be preparing for a wedding. The age difference was a bit much, and the generational gap was a bit off, but as long as Andrew was happy, it was fine.
In the end, Adeline only said one thing, "She's quite good!"
Andrew recalled this repeatedly and smiled lightly. Adeline was really interesting!
He thought, 'Once Lola's situation stabilized, he would propose to the Hawkins family.'
He wanted to keep Chloe by his side, to have her accompany him and Adeline. Every day when he came home from work, he would see the warm lights and her picking vegetables with Adeline.
He wasn't young anymore; perhaps they could have children after getting married.
