Chapter 85 Frederick, You Are Full of Energy
When Frederick got the call, he had just finished with Charlotte. She was exhausted, but he wasn't done. He held her waist, teasing her gently.
Charlotte bit her lip, unable to take it. "Stop it. I want to take a bath!"
Frederick, ever considerate, whispered in her ear, "I'll run the bath for you."
Her earlobes turned a light pink, looking adorable. Frederick couldn't resist gently scratching them.
Charlotte pulled the blanket over her face to stop him. "Are you shy? Who was it that wouldn't let go of me just now?" Frederick teased, wrapping her in the blanket before unwrapping her again.
"I'm tired. Let me take a bath," Charlotte pleaded softly.
Frederick chuckled. "Alright. I'll let you off the hook this time." He brushed aside her sweat-dampened hair, kissed her forehead, and finally let her go, getting out of bed.
Frederick had a great physique, but Charlotte didn't dare to look. The sound of running water came from the bathroom.
About five minutes later, Frederick returned to carry Charlotte, who was wrapped in a towel and blushing. "I can walk by myself," she said.
Frederick didn't insist. While she bathed, he took a quick shower outside.
Back in the bedroom, Frederick leaned against the headboard, relaxed, and lit a cigarette, slowly exhaling. The recent case was almost resolved, and he was indulging himself a bit.
Then the phone on the bedside table rang. Frederick frowned. Who could be calling at this hour?
He held the cigarette between his lips and answered, his voice muffled. "This is Frederick."
On the other end was Ulysses from the station. "Mr. Hawkins, sorry to bother you, but we have a dispute involving Ethan. Could you come over?"
Ethan? Frederick slowly exhaled smoke, his tone cold. "You know I'm resting, and you still ask me to come? I'm not Ethan's guardian!"
Ulysses was cautious. "Mr. Cooper got into a fight at the club. If you don't come, we'll have to call Miss Hawkins."
Frederick snorted, continuing to smoke leisurely. Ulysses held his breath, unsure of Frederick's attitude.
After a long pause, Frederick chuckled. "Did Mr. Cooper ask for me to come?"
Ulysses was taken aback. Yes! But it wasn't his place to say, so he just chuckled awkwardly.
"Alright, I'll be there soon." Frederick hung up, got up, and changed his clothes. He knocked on the bathroom glass door. "I have to go handle something. Don't wait up for me."
Charlotte felt a bit disappointed. Was he leaving tonight?
Frederick could guess her thoughts. He walked over to the bathtub, squatted down, and reached in. Charlotte, blushing, grabbed his arm to stop him.
"It's serious business! I'll be back soon," he said, his voice unusually hoarse.
Charlotte didn't want him to leave. She wrapped her arms around his neck and boldly kissed him.
Frederick kissed her back, then whispered, "I just changed my clothes, and now you've gotten them wet again."
Charlotte's face was hot. Frederick, in a good mood, tidied up his clothes and left.
Ulysses greeted him energetically. "Mr. Hawkins, sorry to trouble you, coming all the way from home. It's 2 AM. Young people really have a lot of energy."
