Chapter 389 Am I old
Andrew was about to talk about getting hitched!
Chloe was stoked inside, but she played it cool, 'cause she's got that grown-woman vibe.
So she goes, "What's that got to do with me?"
Right after, she felt kinda silly for frontin', so she looked down and started messing with her phone.
Andrew just watched her, all quiet.
After a bit, he goes, "You're the only daughter in the fam. You really thin k it ain't got nothing to do with you?"
Chloe's fingers froze.
She stared at her screen for a hot minute and then whispered, "Andrew, is this for real?"
"It's totally real! Chloe, we can be all out in the open now! You can tell everyone you're my wife. When Gavin starts preschool, I can roll with you to pick him up," he said, all gentle but with a touch of sadness.
These everyday things were just normal life for most folks, but for him, they were like, super hard.
He grabbed Chloe's hand and whispered, "When this project's done, I won't be Mr. Devereux anymore, just your Andrew."
He pulled her into a hug.
Her face pressed against his abs, flat and firm, no dad bod here. Even at his age, he kept it tight.
Chloe closed her eyes.
After a long pause, she said softly, "Even if we tie the knot, I still wanna work."
He was cool with that.
He owed her big time and wasn't about to lock her down.
His girl had grown up and matured; he wasn't gonna make her go back to how she was.
Chloe was pretty happy with that.
She quietly checked out the diamond ring on her finger.
She said softly, "Even if you don't have a big bride price, it's cool! Frederick and Charlotte are hooking me up, and Gavin and I don't need you to support us."
Andrew found it both funny and a little annoying.
He gently pinched her cheek.
Did she really think Andrew couldn't take care of his wife and kid?
"How about we hit up that old apartment later?" he said softly.
Chloe wanted to go shopping.
They'd been together for years, but they'd never really strolled around in public.
This was a whole new vibe.
Andrew didn't mind tagging along, but he liked being alone with her more.
Plus, she kinda got under his skin earlier.
She called him old.
Leaving the restaurant, Andrew drove himself.
Chloe wasn't a naive girl anymore; she had a clue about his intentions when he mentioned the apartment, but since he didn't spell it out, she wouldn't either.
The black sports car cruised past the square.
Andrew remembered back when he liked her but was tripping over their age and status differences.
Years had gone by, and they were still tight.
Chloe, sitting next to him, picked up on his mood.
She asked softly, "What's up?"
Andrew gave a faint smile, holding her hand, and didn't say a word.
Soon, they pulled up to the small apartment on Broadway.
They got out and headed upstairs. The place was a bit chilly since the heat wasn't on.
Probably 'cause they hadn't been together much lately, they were a bit awkward about getting close, or to put it bluntly, a bit shy.
Andrew flipped on the light and took off his wool coat. "Turn on the heat, and lose the clothes when it warms up."
Chloe kept playing her game on the sofa.
She said softly, "Who said I'm taking off my clothes?"
Andrew just smiled.
He didn't bug her and instead said, "What kind of mom spends all day on her phone like you?"
Chloe was worried he'd snatch it away.
She shot back, "What kind of mom takes care of her kid all by herself like I do?"
He touched his nose, turned on the heat, boiled some water, and ordered some food and snacks. It was clear that coming here tonight was a spur-of-the-moment thing.
After a bit, the delivery showed up.
Andrew was busying himself in the kitchen.
Chloe was sneaking peeks at him. From behind, he looked pretty young.
She wrinkled her nose a bit. 'He's got some serious chill.'
Andrew was, after all, a mature guy with status and self-control.
He loved her body and their intimate moments, but he also got a kick out of taking care of her. Every time she ate his food with that satisfied look, it made him super happy.
She hadn't eaten much at the restaurant earlier.
So, he whipped up some beef soup with only a handful of noodles for her.
She was always conscious of her figure and didn't want to load up on carbs.
So he kept that in mind.
Andrew finished up and set the tray in the dining room.
Chloe caught a whiff of the food and wandered over. Seeing just one bowl, she asked, "Why aren't you eating?"
Andrew sat next to her, pulled out a cigarette but didn't light it.
He smiled faintly. "I've never been much for indulgence."
Chloe thought about it and realized Andrew rarely ate much, always watching his portions. He was super mindful of his health. She snorted softly. "Why you gotta look so good, to trick young girls?"
Andrew didn't get mad.
He glanced at her. "Guess I tricked you."
Chloe's face turned a bit red, and she couldn't help but think of the first time she saw him at Hawkins Mansion.
He was a total knockout!
So gentle, but who would've thought he'd be so wild in bed!
Andrew knew her well. After watching her for a moment, he chuckled softly.
His gaze was kinda intense, but he didn't act on it, like teasing with a blunt knife.
Chloe couldn't take it.
She ate slowly, looking at the empty bowl, then looked up at him.
Andrew stayed cool.
His long fingers played with the white cigarette, slowly and gently, making her face turn red.
Andrew's cigarette lightly brushed her soft face, then moved down, gently tickling her neck, making her heart race.
Chloe's voice was tinged with tears. "Stop it."
It was clearly just teasing.
Andrew pulled back, put the cigarette in his mouth, and lit it.
He took a puff and laughed softly. "Don't like it?"
It wasn't that she didn't like it; she just couldn't handle it. His actions made her feel bullied.
Chloe almost didn't dare to look at him.
Andrew stood up and scooped her up.
Chloe was startled and a bit shy. Her hands hovered in the air for a long time before grabbing his shirt sleeve. "Put me down."
Andrew didn't stop.
He looked down at her, his voice husky. "You're full; isn't it my turn now?"
Her face turned red, and she didn't know where to put her hands and feet.
No matter how nervous she was, Andrew placed her at the foot of the bed, her body sinking into the soft mattress.
Andrew kissed her lightly for a while.
Looking at her flushed face, he said, "Chloe, you're so beautiful."
Though it was sweet talk, it was also sincere.
The Hawkins siblings were all good-looking and dazzling.
Her long hair spread out on the white sheets, her beautiful face stunningly gorgeous.
She was much younger than him, and Andrew cherished her.
He kissed her cheeks before straightening up.
He took off his light blue shirt and spread it on the bed.
Then, he gently placed her on that shirt.
"I haven't slept here in a long time. I'm afraid there might be bugs," he explained.
Chloe's face turned even redder.
Andrew knelt, looking down at her, and began to cherish her.
Clothes fell to the floor one by one.
She clung to his neck, whispering, "Are there really bugs?"
Andrew chuckled.
At a time like this, she could still think about that.
When she was on the verge of tears, he whispered in her ear, "Still scared of bugs?"
Chloe hit him, crying.
Andrew showed no mercy because she had said the wrong thing.
She called him old!
Older guys knew best how to make love to young girls!
