Chapter 653I Don't Know, Kingsley, Stop Asking!

She turned her face away, feeling Kingsley's intensity. When he pressed her hard, she let out a soft whimper. "I don't know, Kingsley, stop asking!"

They just lay there, tangled up in each other. Once Kingsley calmed down, he got more relaxed. He gently touched her flushed face. He leaned close to her ear, his breath a bit uneven, his voice rough but tender.

"You put Nicole in the room across the hall. She's around seven now, and she gets more than you think! What if she hears something one day and asks why you were crying? How are we supposed to explain that?"

He said it seriously, like he was thinking of her, but it was super embarrassing when she thought about it. And after he said it, his blue eyes just kept staring at her.

After a moment, he leaned in to kiss her.

Amara found herself yielding completely, leaning against the hallway wall, her arms wrapping around his slim waist. In these moments, she was always like this, really gentle when they were close.

He said those teasing words, and Amara couldn't handle it.

She cried softly, mumbling, "Kingsley, stop talking!"

"Did I say something wrong?" He stopped kissing her, his deep blue eyes looking at her, and asked softly, "If you're not afraid of being heard, should we just do it like this at home from now on?"

Amara angrily gave him a few light hits.

Kingsley's expression got a bit unreadable. Without another word, he scooped Amara up into his arms and headed straight to the master bedroom.

Hailey called, and by then Amara was so tired she had fallen asleep. Half-asleep, she felt Kingsley answer the phone, saying they were together. Hailey didn't ask much.

Kingsley leaned against the headboard, with only two buttons left on his shirt. The shirt hung loosely on him, making him look especially sexy.

He held Amara's shoulder with one hand and had a cigarette in the other. After smoking half of it, he put it out, then turned and quietly watched Amara.

She was sleeping soundly! Her small face was peaceful, and her lips were red and moist from their recent lovemaking.

Kingsley couldn't help but gently touch her face.

Amara woke up and looked at him. "What time is it?"

Kingsley smiled faintly. "Almost eight o'clock!"

Amara was worried about the kids and Hazel, so she immediately got up. "Why didn't you wake me?"

She wanted to get dressed, but Kingsley stopped her. "Lie down! I'll make something to eat!"

Amara wanted to speak, but he said, "It's just about Caitlyn; we can talk while eating later."

Amara stared at him.

Kingsley chuckled. "You want to go again? If you do, you'll have to wait a bit. A man's stamina isn't endless, you know."

His playful nonsense irked and amused her all at once. With a huff, she grabbed a nearby pillow and aimed it at him, but he caught her in his arms.

Kingsley held her close, wrapping them both in the blanket. He kissed her deeply, taking his time to savor the moment before finally whispering against her lips, "Be good!"

Amara didn't argue with him anymore.

Kingsley, in a good mood, went to make food and soon called Amara to eat.

At the dining table, their behavior was markedly proper, a stark contrast to the intimacy they had just shared.

Amara ate gracefully, and halfway through, she wanted to talk to him about Hazel.

Kingsley just said calmly, "The villa is our shared home. You're the lady of the house, you can decide on hiring a servant. You don't need to go to great lengths to throw yourself at me with excuses like a broken-down car."

He always spoke harshly and liked to tease her.

Amara's face flushed. "Kingsley!"

Kingsley looked at her with an amused glint in his eye, then let out a soft chuckle. With a casual motion, he pushed the brown paper bag that Amara had brought over. "In fact, I've met Landon!"

Kingsley instinctively reached for a cigarette. Though he didn't light it, he absently played with it between his fingers, a subtle indication of the gravity of the matter at hand. "Landon came to me and proposed some cooperation."

Amara was very surprised. Because of the Ascend Global Group case, the Carter Group and the Hawkins Group had been at odds for half a year, with both sides wishing for the other's downfall. And now they were cooperating?

Kingsley leaned back in his chair, smiling peacefully. "Caitlyn is in trouble and refuses his help. I'm the only one who can help her. Who else would he turn to?"

Amara put down her fork. "You agreed?"

Kingsley retorted, "Why wouldn't I agree? Professionally, Landon offered very favorable terms. Personally, aren't you and Caitlyn very close? I'm helping her, aren't you happy?"

Of course, Amara was happy, but she couldn't help thinking about her past conflicts with Kingsley over the Carter Group, especially now that Landon had reconciled with him. Her feelings were complicated.

Kingsley reached out and held Amara's hand. "Are you upset?"

Amara told him honestly, "I'm just feeling a bit emotional! Kingsley, it's not that I'm insecure, I just feel once again the gap between us. No matter how hard I try or how excellent I am, I can't catch up to you."

Kingsley wasn't as conflicted as she was. His eyes were full of affection, and he said softly, "Once you marry into the Hawkins Family, there will be no gap."

Amara remained silent.

Kingsley didn't push her. He gently touched her face and asked seriously, "Do you want to go again? It's rare for us to get out, and once we're back, the kids will be all over us. It won't be easy to get some alone time."

Amara thought he was really shameless!

She still refused, saying it was too late. Kingsley laughed at her, saying she was just fooling herself. "What couple doesn't do this? Besides, the kids are already three years old! Amara, we don't need to hold back our desires."

Amara felt he was trying to seduce her.

It was close to ten o'clock when they got back to the villa.

Hazel came over briefly and then went to her room to rest. Jesse and Nicole came over, clinging to them.

Kingsley was worried Amara would get tired. He held one child in his arms and led the other by the hand. He looked at Amara with a faint smile. "I told you these two kids are affectionate!"

He was flirting with her in public, making Amara blush.

Landon returned to Bostan late at night.

He hadn't informed Phoebe in advance, so when he got home, Phoebe didn't know. She was surprised when she opened the bedroom door. "Landon? You're back!"

She said this, her eyes watery as she threw herself into his arms.

Landon hugged her, but felt no emotion. He patted his wife's shoulder. "I'm going to take a shower."

Phoebe kissed his chin and said gently, "I'll run the bath for you!"

Landon didn't refuse. He walked to the bed, took off his coat, and lay down.

He was so tired these days that as soon as his head hit the pillow, he fell asleep. In his drowsiness, he felt a tickle on his face, like a little dog licking his neck.

Half-asleep, he thought he was still in Syeattel and gently tugged the woman's hair, saying indulgently, "Stop it, Caitlyn, let me sleep for a bit! I'm exhausted!"

The words were barely out of his mouth when reality jolted him awake. His eyes flew open to find Phoebe staring back at him, with an equally bewildered expression.

Some invisible force tore apart their seemingly harmonious marriage, stripping away the last bit of pretense.

Landon covered his eyes with his hand, lay back down, and mumbled an apology.

In his heart, he didn't feel guilty. Less than a month into their marriage, Phoebe couldn't stand the loneliness and found a lover.

But out of respect, he still apologized.

Phoebe was even more shocked because when she kissed him just now, he called her Caitlyn. He wasn't impotent!

Phoebe sat on the edge of the bed, staring at Landon, who had regained his cold demeanor.

She asked softly, "Do you have no feelings for me, or only for Caitlyn?"

Caitlyn was part of his past, unrelated to his life after marriage. He didn't want to drag her into this for Phoebe to judge and say nasty things.

He got up and said calmly, "Don't overthink it! I won't be unfaithful to our marriage."

This statement hurt Phoebe deeply because she had gotten drunk and found a young lover that day. Although they hadn't had sex, they had hugged, kissed, and touched.

Landon wanted to go to the bathroom, but Phoebe grabbed his hand. "Are you rejecting me because of Caitlyn? What's so good about her? Isn't she just a slut clinging to someone else's husband?"

Landon couldn't bear it anymore and slapped her.

Phoebe was stunned. She looked at Landon in disbelief, screaming, "You went to Syeattel for Caitlyn, didn't you? Did you have sex with her there? What tricks did she use to seduce you?"

Landon grabbed her by the neck, threw her onto the soft bed, and turned to leave. Phoebe hurriedly got up and hugged him from behind, crying, "I'm your wife! Why can't you be a little nicer to me? Why are you always thinking about her?"

Landon pushed her away. His gaze was icy. "I've tried! If you dare to go after her, I'll make you regret it! She's not as loose as you!"

Phoebe was stunned. She clutched her nightgown tightly, looking up at him. Did he know?

Landon left her with a shred of dignity.

From that day on, he moved out of the master bedroom and never got close to her again. Late at night, lying in bed, Caitlyn still troubled him.

He felt like a bad man! When Caitlyn was at her most difficult time, he couldn't be by her side. Besides her unwillingness to accept his help, another important reason was that he was married.

Landon regretted it. He had thought about stabilizing his power for a year and then getting a divorce.

But then what? He was already a man with a marriage history. What made him think Caitlyn would still want him? So he didn't have the heart to divorce when he came back.

To him, marrying anyone was the same. It was just living under the same roof with a stranger.

Time passed, and Phoebe got pregnant.

This was naturally not Landon's child. Phoebe begged for his forgiveness, crying. This was clearly a good opportunity for divorce, but Landon didn't act.

He wanted her to have the baby, and if she had physical needs, he could arrange for her.

Phoebe cried endlessly.

Landon even moved out of the villa. In midsummer, there was a project at the Syeattel branch that required his attention, so he went.

Amara personally went to the airport to pick him up.

In the car, Landon was very silent. Amara asked softly, "This project doesn't necessarily need your personal attention. Are you doing this for Caitlyn?"
