Chapter 331 Andrew Would Sacrifice Everything To Save Her
Chloe was all wrapped up in the sheets, her body covered in hickeys from earlier.
She was crying, half from sadness, half from fear.
Andrew rubbed his swollen eyes. After a long pause, he muttered, "Eat something and then get outta here. Don't come back, Chloe. I don't want you anymore."
Her sobs got quieter.
She stayed curled up for a while, then slowly started to move.
She didn't want to eat. In this mess, she didn't even want to see anyone.
After what felt like forever, she finally sat up and started getting dressed.
Her hands were shaking like crazy, but she still managed to put on her clothes and get out of bed.
Andrew got up too.
He gently touched her elbow, his voice rough. "Go eat. When you're done, I'll get a car to take you to the airport."
She pushed his hand away.
Her voice was barely a whisper. "No need. I can go by myself."
Andrew's hand hung in the air for a moment before dropping. He wanted to say more but held back.
It was better this way. What was there to save? Even if he sent her off, what difference would it make?
The room was dead silent. Her hand was on the doorknob, and she knew this was it. After this, there'd be no more chances, and she'd never call him Andrew again.
But Chloe also knew she didn't regret it. Those memories of being loved were real, and that was enough.
The door opened, and there stood Adeline.
Adeline smiled. "What's going on? Why are you crying? Andrew, Chloe's so much younger than you; you should cherish her. Why are you being so mean?"
She took Chloe's hand and led her to eat.
Facing such a kind and loving lady, Chloe couldn't pull away; she just said tearfully, "I want to go home."
Adeline looked at Andrew for a few seconds, then said, "Okay, but at least eat first. Let Andrew send you back."
In the end, the three of them ate together in awkward silence.
Chloe's tears kept falling. Andrew had no appetite; he walked to the window, lit a cigarette.
When she finished eating, he called the family driver to take her to the airport.
Chloe got in the car and left.
The black car slowly drove away, and Andrew stood there quietly for a long time.
His heart hurt so much it felt numb.
Adeline was crying beside him, softly repeating, "You finally decided to settle down; how could you drive her away?"
But Adeline knew Andrew had no choice; she didn't interfere too much, just felt sorry for both of them. She wanted to ask something but didn't.
Nathan came to pick him up.
Seeing the mood, he asked a few questions and got the gist.
He frowned slightly and said quietly to Andrew, "Miss Murphy is in the car! I came to pick you up. She wanted a ride; I couldn't say no."
Andrew's expression changed a bit.
Celeste, like Andrew, studied engineering and was his junior back in the day.
She was also his first love.
After Andrew took over the project, Celeste showed up. Running into an old flame was always a trip, but Andrew immediately scoped her out.
After graduation, Celeste had racked up three years of overseas work experience.
He hadn't pieced together her whole story yet, but he was pretty sure she was a plant from some foreign company.
Andrew's gut tightened.
He was about to give Nathan some instructions, but Celeste had already made her way over.
Celeste used to be in a relationship with Andrew and had met Adeline before.
Back in the day, Adeline would've been thrilled to see Celeste. But she knew Andrew only had eyes for Chloe now, so she wasn't exactly rolling out the red carpet.
Celeste didn't seem to care, though. She spoke softly, "Mr. Devereux, sorry for the trouble!"
Andrew was a mess inside, but he kept his cool, just giving a slight nod.
He signaled to Nathan.
Nathan got the message.
Right then, he was both nervous and impressed. Only Andrew could see through everything and make snap decisions like this.
Yeah, Chloe must've been kidnapped.
Celeste was the mole.
But they had their own people in her company. Nathan quickly stepped out and sent a command on his phone: ["Kidnap Celeste!]
After sending the message, he walked back in, acting like nothing happened. "Mr. Devereux, Miss Murphy, it's about time!"
Andrew nodded slightly.
Celeste got in the car with him.
The car ride was tense. No one said a word. An invisible battle was going on.
When they pulled up at the tech center, Andrew's phone rang. The caller ID was unknown, and the voice was altered. "Mr. Devereux, hello!"
Andrew's grip on the phone turned his knuckles white.
But he kept his face blank, smiling. "What do you want?"
The other person laughed, then hung up and sent Andrew a photo!
It was a gut-wrenching photo. Chloe was tied to a chair, her mouth taped shut, and at her feet was the Devereux family driver. They were in some abandoned warehouse.
Then, the phone rang again.
"Mr. Devereux, remember how Luke and his wife died? And Luke didn't appreciate his wife. She was a beauty. Such a waste!"
Andrew clenched the phone.
After a moment, he said coldly, "You think you can get the info just by having Chloe? Keep dreaming! Do whatever you want!"
Then he hung up.
On the other end was a tall, burly guy.
He looked stunned, then glanced at Chloe.
According to Celeste's intel, Chloe was the one Andrew cared about, and Andrew just blew her off. People in his position were ruthless.
He didn't buy it and wanted to hurt Chloe.
Someone stopped him. "Are you nuts? She's from the Hawkins family!"
At that moment, a subordinate brought over a phone and whispered, "There's an order to capture Celeste; she's Andrew's first love; he won't refuse to hand over the info!"
Celeste?
The big guy ground his teeth and sneered. "So Celeste lied to us. She slept with Andrew too. If this chick sleeps around, who knows where her loyalty lies?"
He ordered his men to capture her.
After giving the order, he looked at Chloe again, angrily kicking her twice. "Andrew's really something; he's got mistresses everywhere. How's he gonna handle so many women?"
Chloe was tied up, staring blankly.
She heard it.
Andrew had said those words on the phone earlier. "Do you think you can get the information just with Chloe? You're dreaming! Do whatever you want."
She guessed the information was important, but did he really not care about her?
He just hung up the phone ruthlessly?
And Celeste was also his lover?
Chloe was in a daze, even forgetting to cry.
Time dragged on.
Around four in the afternoon, a few goons brought in a woman with a black cloth over her head.
She was stunning. Rocking a royal blue coat, her long hair tied back.
She wasn't as flashy as Grace, but she had this undeniable poise.
Chloe's lips trembled as she stared at the woman, realizing this was Andrew's first love!
Celeste initially put on an act, but when she saw these rough men were serious, she angrily slapped the tall, strong man. "Bastard, you dare to capture me?!"
The man slapped her back, making her ears ring.
She cried out, "What are you doing?"
The man stepped forward and kicked her. "What are we doing? Why didn't you say earlier that you slept with Andrew? If you had, we wouldn't have bothered with her; we would have just tied you up."
Celeste gritted her teeth in anger. "Whose order is this?"
"The boss's!"
"Which boss?"
"Why are you asking so many questions? Tie her up tightly. She's much more valuable than Chloe!"
The men laughed ambiguously.
Celeste knew Andrew better than these people.
She slowly calmed down, breaking out in a cold sweat.
The boss was Andrew's spy!
Andrew had his spy to capture her, then Andrew would rescue her, and save Chloe in the process. This realization almost made her scream, but she knew Andrew's methods well.
Andrew's ruthlessness was something she was well aware of.
He could capture her, and at the same time, he must have control over her family.
If anything happened to Chloe, he would take her whole family down with her!
At this moment, she was insanely jealous.
Andrew, who was always so cold and never truly emotional, had actually fallen for Chloe. She remembered when they broke up, he had said to her, "Celeste, love and relationships aren't really my thing!"
For that one sentence, she had gone against him.
She had achieved a significant position in a foreign company, wanting to stand as high as him and make him regret his choice.
But he had her life in his hands, to exchange for Chloe's life.
Only Andrew could do such a thing!
Late at night, Andrew sat in his office, his body slightly leaning forward, his eyes fixed on the phone.
He was waiting for news.
Even though he hadn't slept for over 24 hours, he hadn't blinked once, his refined and handsome face filled with gloom.
Nathan, beside him, said softly, "You should rest for a bit. I'll keep watch."
Andrew didn't respond.
Nathan couldn't help but worry. "What if Celeste...?"
"She wouldn't dare!"
Andrew had fallen out with her, but as long as she wasn't completely crazy, she wouldn't dare say a word.
Nathan nodded and continued to wait quietly.
At nine in the evening, the phone rang; it was still that voice. "Mr. Devereux, your lover Miss Murphy is in our hands. You really are lucky, all your women are beautiful."
Andrew's voice was steady. "Don't touch her!"
The man chuckled, touching Celeste, and said, "If you want your first love to be intact, you'll have to give something in return; otherwise, I can't guarantee she won't end up like Luke's wife."
Andrew suppressed his voice. "Where are you? What do you want?"
Hanging up the phone, the man rudely groped Celeste.
He looked at Chloe disdainfully. "It seems Celeste is more favored by Andrew."
Chloe was in a daze. She couldn't quite believe it, but she vaguely felt that Andrew had come for her!
Andrew arrived late at night.
The driver parked the car outside; the bodyguards and Nathan stayed behind. Andrew walked into the warehouse alone, carrying a chip. As soon as he entered, he was choked by the dust everywhere.
Andrew looked around.
Chloe was tied to a chair, her eyes filled with tears, looking at him with trust.
Andrew felt an unprecedented pain in his heart, but he didn't look at her. Instead, he looked at Celeste with concern.
The tall, strong man played with a knife as he approached.
Eight people surrounded him, closing in.
Andrew was dressed in black. He was refined and handsome, standing out even more in such an environment.
"Mr. Devereux, you really are a charming man!"
The man grabbed Celeste's hair and threw her forward, sneering. "Let's trade!"
Andrew held a small chip in his hand. He said softly, "All the project information is in this!"
The man was skeptical. Andrew tossed the item to him. "You can check it first!"
The man instinctively caught it.
But the small item wasn't a chip; it was a tiny detonator. As soon as the man touched it, it exploded, sending the tall, strong man and Celeste flying!
Everyone was stunned by Andrew's ruthlessness!
Celeste lay in a pool of blood, one hand mangled, her body covered in blood, but she still stared at Andrew with resentment, unable to believe he would do this to her.
Without hesitation, he was willing to sacrifice her for Chloe.
Almost simultaneously, the bodyguards outside rushed in, along with some uniformed personnel.
Andrew quietly looked at Chloe.
She looked back.
She thought he would come over to hug her and untie her, but he walked towards Celeste, bent down, and held her in his arms, saying gently, "Celeste, I'll take you to the hospital right away!"
Celeste stared at the man in front of her, whispering, "Andrew, you're ruthless!"
Andrew leaned close to her ear, as if whispering sweet nothings, but with a fierce tone. "You shouldn't have touched her!"
Celeste closed her eyes slightly.
She had lost, lost to Chloe in love, lost to Andrew in strategy. It turned out Andrew had already infiltrated the company with his people; his methods were a hundred times more effective than Luke's.
Celeste was unwilling. "Why didn't you take on the task back then?"
Andrew lowered his eyes, bitterly thinking, 'Back then it was to give Chloe a home.'
But instead, he indirectly caused the death of Luke and his wife.
Andrew carried Celeste and walked out of the warehouse.
Behind him, Chloe's soft voice came. "Andrew."
