Chapter 34: Ethan, You Love Her

Tina was stunned.

Ethan didn't hold back. He yanked her hair again, forcing her to look up at him. His expression was ice-cold. "Do you know what happens when you talk nonsense?"

Tina was in pain, but panic took over. She finally understood why Ethan was so furious.

He cared that Charlotte knew about their affair.

Tina didn't want to believe it. She whispered, "I thought you didn't love her."

"That's right! I don't love her!" Ethan's smile grew colder. "But who do you think you are? You think you can meddle in my business with her?"

Tina laughed and cried at the same time.

Blood mixed with her tears, making a shocking sight.

She chuckled softly, "Ethan, you love her!"

Ethan denied it firmly, "I don't!"

Tina pressed on, "If you don't love her, why does it matter if she knows the truth? You just don't want her to find out you're a cheating scoundrel!"

"If you don't love her, why go to such lengths to deal with her?"

"If you don't love her, why haven't you slept with her in four years? Is it because you're not interested or because you can't bear to? Ethan, you regret it, don't you? Four years and you couldn't bring yourself to touch her, and now she's single and can be with anyone she wants."

Tina's eyes were red as she blurted it all out.

She thought she had defeated Charlotte, but now she realized she was the fool. Ethan never liked her; he cared about power and Charlotte.

When she finished, she felt a surge of satisfaction, but she also received two slaps from Ethan.

Tina's lips trembled, but she still smiled lightly. "Ethan, I don't mind getting hit. The important thing is that Charlotte will never come back to you. Even if you get what you want, you'll never have her!"

"Get out!" Ethan roared.

Tina straightened up, wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, and left proudly.

Ethan was still fuming. He smashed his phone in a fit of rage. Gemma was about to enter the room but froze when she saw the scene.

Ethan had never lost his temper like this before.

Standing amidst the chaos, Ethan said softly, "I want to see Charlotte by tomorrow."

Gemma understood and her face tensed.

Meanwhile, Charlotte was hiding her unemployment from Maria. Too much had happened at home recently, and she didn't want Maria to worry.

She couldn't sleep at night, constantly thinking about the future.

At one in the morning, Frederick called, but Charlotte didn't answer. Instead, she sent a message back.

[Maria is asleep. I don't want to wake her.]

Within a minute, Frederick replied.

[I'm coming back this Saturday. What gift would you like, Ms. Russell?]

Charlotte didn't know how to respond.

She had already decided to leave Syeattel, so naturally, she wouldn't have much to do with Frederick anymore. Besides, she wasn't the type to play around casually.

After much hesitation, she sent a message.

[Mr. Hawkins, thank you for everything during this time.]

Such a simple sentence made it clear that she didn't want to continue their relationship. Frederick, being so smart, would understand.

Sure enough, Frederick didn't reply.

Charlotte got what she wanted, but once it sank in, she felt a strange sense of emptiness. She couldn't shake the thought of how things might have turned out if she and Frederick had met under different circumstances.

With that, she smiled mockingly at her own overthinking.

A man like Frederick would never have a future with her. At most, it was just a fleeting affair.

Charlotte didn't sleep well that night, but she got up early in the morning, afraid Maria would suspect something.

Just as she finished washing up, the door opened. Maria's face was pale, and her lips trembled. "Charlotte, your dad committed suicide in prison."
