Chapter 671 Because Mr. Hawkins Leads by Example!

Old flames reunited in that familiar spot, every little detail tugging at their hearts. Around them, it felt like the world had gone silent and empty, leaving just the two of them.

After a long pause, Caitlyn's lips trembled a bit, but she didn't say anything. She just lowered her head and kept eating, like she didn't know Landon, like they had nothing to do with each other.

Landon should've left, just like she said last time that when they bumped into each other on the street, they shouldn't even say hi because all he brought her was pain.

But he stood there, not wanting to leave. He missed her. If not on purpose, he might not see her again in his life. Determined, he slowly approached her table, not saying a word as he took a seat across from her.

He told the manager nearby, "Add some dishes and meat, and bring a bottle of wine."

The manager, understanding the unspoken gravity of the situation, nodded and swiftly arranged it. Since the restaurant wasn't busy, he hung a "closed" sign on the door, giving Landon a private space to talk. Despite all the rumors, he believed Landon and Caitlyn had true love. They'd been together for years, and the look in their eyes didn't lie.

At the four-person table, they sat across from each other.

Caitlyn was calm. She lowered her head and asked, "Why are you here? Didn't we agree not to see or talk to each other?"

As she spoke, she was about to leave. She was scared, really afraid of getting tangled up with Landon again.

But as soon as she stood up, Landon pressed her hand down and then let go, looking up at her with a gentle and calm tone. "We just happened to meet; let's have a meal together!"

Caitlyn gently shook her head, still wanting to leave. But Landon wouldn't let her go. He whispered, "Caitlyn, it's just a meal. I won't push my luck! Besides, you eat too little, how can you manage?"

Caitlyn knew Landon well enough to understand that if she didn't eat this meal, he wouldn't let her leave. She sat down but didn't say much.

The dishes were served, and the restaurant owner even brought a grill because Landon liked grilled meat.

Everything was quiet as Caitlyn sat there, somewhat lost in thought, while Landon silently grilled the meat and prepared the seasoning.

Landon's cooking skills were top-notch. In the past, when they were together, he did most of the cooking, and all she had to do was eat. Now that they were apart, it was no different!

However, it wasn't quite the same as before. Back then, she was always worried about gaining weight despite her love for food. After eating grilled meat, she would insist on making love to him, believing that sweating would keep her from getting fat. During those times, she was surprisingly passionate.

Landon was used to such intimate scenes, but he truly liked her back then. But now, facing Landon with the same handsome face, Caitlyn had no appetite or desire.

Landon placed the grilled meat on her plate. "Eat some! You've lost so much weight!"

Caitlyn said nothing, silently eating two pieces. Landon was very hungry but focused solely on taking care of her, being very attentive and considerate. "Eat more! Isn't this your favorite?"

Finally, Caitlyn put down her fork. She looked up at him and softly said, "Landon, can you act normal? You're married now. Is it appropriate for you to be so attentive and considerate towards me?"

She pointed to the table full of dishes. "We shouldn't be having this meal!" She had lost her appetite and stood up to leave.

Landon remained seated for a moment, his eyes fixed on Caitlyn as she walked away. Impulsively, he sprang to his feet and grabbed her hand, pressing her against the nearest wall. She tried to resist, but he held her with one hand, then grabbed her chin and kissed her before she could react. A mix of rough, deep, and shallow kisses.

Landon couldn't control himself, not just because he longed for her but also because he was just a regular guy. Since marrying Phoebe, he hadn't been intimate with her, nor had he sought such closeness with anyone else. Now that he was with Caitlyn, he found it hard to hold back.

His body told him he wanted her!

In the empty restaurant, with clothes all messed up, the only sounds were their passionate breaths. The kiss grew more intense.

Suddenly, a sharp slap echoed, and Landon's face turned to the side. That slap shattered all the intimacy.

Landon snapped out of it. He didn't care about his stinging face but turned to look at Caitlyn in his arms. She was curled up against the wall, using all her strength to avoid touching him, her face full of embarrassment. Seeing this, Landon felt his heart break.

He raised his hand to straighten her half-removed clothes. Caitlyn flinched, tears sliding down her cheeks. She murmured, "Have I become so lowly in your eyes? How can you treat me like this anywhere?"

"No!" Landon's voice was hoarse, almost in pain. He hesitated and slowly leaned his head against Caitlyn's neck, breathing heavily. After a while, he whispered, "If I hadn't gotten married, would we still be together?"

At least then, a simple hug wouldn't be so scandalous. And they wouldn't be judged by the whole world.

Caitlyn slightly raised her head, calming her emotions, and gently pushed him away. She said, "Landon, isn't this what you chose for yourself?"

Landon felt like his heart was being cut with a knife.

When Caitlyn left again, Landon didn't stop her. He just returned to his seat and slowly grilled the remaining meat, eating it all by himself. He had never eaten so much because Caitlyn used to eat most of it. The phone on the table rang; it was Phoebe calling.

Landon didn't answer.

Phoebe sent a Facebook message: [Tomorrow is the prenatal checkup, Landon, will you come with me?]

Yet, Landon directly turned off his phone.

Caitlyn walked out of the restaurant, wandering the streets, not knowing where to go. She suddenly missed Amara very much. In this world, Amara was the only one she could talk to about her deepest thoughts.

So she called Amara, and when the call connected, she didn't mention Landon but said, "Amara, I want to close the hotel and take my mom abroad. Maybe a change of environment will help her condition."

Amara was surprised, but not really.

Caitlyn wasn't cut out for business. Now, struggling to keep it going was not only hard but also unprofitable. It would be better to sell the assets for a better future, but Amara was reluctant to see her go abroad.

Caitlyn sniffled. "I'll be back in a year or two! I'm still young, I need to find someone and get married! I can't stay single forever!"

Amara paused for a long time and asked, "Did you see Mr. Carter?"

A heavy silence hung between them. Finally, Caitlyn responded, her voice laced with bitterness, "I ran into him! Amara, I really hate him!"

Amara felt deeply for Caitlyn. She could sense Caitlyn's pain, so she invited her to dinner. Caitlyn wanted to drink, but she knew Amara was pregnant, so they arranged to meet at a restaurant in the evening. After having a meal, Caitlyn felt much calmer.

And Amara felt much more at ease. When they left the restaurant, Kingsley was waiting in the car at the restaurant entrance.

Caitlyn looked at him. "How long have you been here?"

Kingsley rolled down the car window, his handsome face as cold as ever, and said indifferently, "It's been half an hour. But Amara mentioned you needed some girl time, so I didn't want to intrude."

Caitlyn responded, "How considerate of you."

Kingsley said, "Obviously."

Kingsley and Amara intended to give Caitlyn a ride, but Caitlyn refused. "I'll just take a cab. Amara is pregnant; you should take her home to rest early."

As she spoke, she took a box out of her bag. "A gift! I want to be the godmother!"

Amara didn't hesitate to accept it and said, “You need to find someone first, and then become a godmother.”

Caitlyn wrinkled her nose.

Kingsley chuckled softly as he opened the car door for Amara. After closing her door, he strolled around to the other side. He didn't start the car right away but watched Caitlyn get into a cab instead. With a light laugh, he remarked, "Making her the godmother is a great idea!"

Amara asked, "What's so great about it?"

Kingsley leaned back against the leather seat and turned his head to look at her. "Think about it, if she becomes the godmother, then Landon could very well become the godfather. Imagine future family gatherings with him on equal footing with us—quite amusing!"

Amara stared at him quietly. After a while, she leaned over, cupped his face, and kissed his lips, murmuring, "You're so bad! Kingsley, you used to bully me like this, how did I fall for you back then? When I was your secretary, I didn't have to do housework so meticulously, but I served you like a little maid. Thinking back, I was so foolish."

Kingsley felt incredibly good. He kissed her back, laughing softly. "That just means you had feelings for me back then!"

Amara didn't deny it. "Yes! I had feelings for you!"

Kingsley smiled. "I won't hold it against you! By the way, I haven't had dinner yet, and I'm still hungry. How about we go grab something to eat?"

He thought Amara wouldn't agree since she had already eaten.

Unexpectedly, Amara agreed readily. "Sure! What do you want to eat?"

Kingsley found her compliance endearing and rewarded her with a kiss. In the end, they went back to the villa. Kingsley made himself some pasta whose aroma made the two kids crave it too, so he made two more bowls.

He asked Amara if she wanted some.

Amara was fiddling with her phone and looked up after a while. She said, "I can't eat anymore! I've had enough nutrients and calories for today."

Kingsley squatted down, touched her flat belly, and said, "Mrs. Hawkins, I don't mind if you get weight! If you want to eat, just eat!"

Amara said, "Then I'll reluctantly accept!"

Kingsley teased her for becoming more hypocritical.

Amara hugged his arm and walked towards the dining room, whispering, "I'm just following your lead."

Hearing this, Kingsley gave her a meaningful look, his eyes changing.

Late at night, the lights in the villa went out one by one.

Kingsley was taking a shower. Amara, wearing a light nightgown, leaned against the headboard, handling some affairs on her phone. Finally, she bit her lip and sent a message to Landon: [Caitlyn might be going abroad.]

After sending it, she tossed the phone aside. She opened the drawer and inside was the transfer order Landon had given her. She had already made her decision but hadn't told Kingsley, and he hadn't asked.

Amara wasn't sure if he was confident or what!

The bathroom door opened, and Kingsley came out with a bit of steam. Seeing the bedside lamp on and Amara still sitting up, he sat down beside her while drying his hair. "Why aren't you asleep yet? We need to be restrained in the first three months of pregnancy!"

Amara gave him a sidelong glance. "Mr. Hawkins, you're overthinking it!"

Kingsley saw her blushing face, looking inexplicably charming, and couldn't help but feel moved. He slipped a hand under the covers, his voice deepening. "We'll see if I'm overthinking it."

Amara softly exclaimed, "What are you doing?"

She hadn't been in the mood, but Kingsley insisted on teasing her until she felt uncomfortable. In the end, it was a mess, and Amara was almost in tears in his arms.

Kingsley gently played with her light nightgown, asking softly, "Still dare to provoke me?"

Amara bit her lip and raised her head to kiss his chin, not speaking, but Kingsley understood her well enough.

His voice tightened. "Want it that much?"

Amara leaned weakly against his shoulder, groaning. "You're a jerk!"

Kingsley, feeling tender towards her, found a way to make her comfortable. Afterward, Amara didn't dare provoke him again and got up to wash up. When she returned, Kingsley was in her original spot.

In his hand was the transfer order.

Amara walked over, lifted the covers, and lay in his arms, looking at it with him. Kingsley lowered his head and asked, "You're still keeping it. Do you really want to go?"

Amara teased him. "Yes! I want to go!"

He kissed her gently. "Are you going to give up your husband and child?"

Amara just laughed.

Kingsley watched her quietly for a long time, then said, "Amara, you can go if you really want! Take more people with you, and I'll fly over two days a week. When you've had enough of being a leader, come back and we'll get married."

But she didn't reveal her plans, letting him think she still wanted to go to Boston. This feeling was really nice!

Amara felt good, she lay down and tugged at him. "I'm sleepy!"

Kingsley lay down with her, looking at her sleepy face, and said softly, "I'm serious, Amara! If you really want to go, I support you."

Amara's response was to turn off the light. Then, in the dark, she touched his lips and kissed him gently, saying seriously, "I know!"

Just as they were about to sleep, Kingsley ignored three calls from Landon. Finally, he couldn't stand it and answered, saying to Amara, "This old man isn't happy himself and wants to bother me!"

On the other end, Landon's voice was cold. "Kingsley, I'm only in my forties!"

Kingsley snorted. "Mr. Carter, knowing you're in your forties, you shouldn't be disturbing others' sleep! It's so late; what's the matter?"

Landon paused and asked, "Is Caitlyn going abroad? Did she say where? For how long?"

Kingsley chuckled lightly, maliciously. "Mr. Carter, aren't you supposed to be sleeping with your wife and kids? Why are you concerned about a woman you discarded? Does it matter to you where she's going and for how long?"
