Chapter 110: Do You Think We're Not Couple
Cherie was caught off guard.
She joked, "Mr. Hawkins, thinking of opening a coffee shop?"
Frederick leaned back in his leather chair, sipping his coffee. After a bit, he said, "It's Charlotte who wants to open a music room."
Cherie, recalling Frederick's actions, realized they had been arguing.
Frederick was trying to make up!
Cherie quickly checked and said, "We don't have a 2,000 square foot space, but there's a 4,000 square foot office on Cedar Grove Street, fully furnished and vacant."
"Perfect! Get the keys," Frederick said, then added, "Also, bring me the latest fashion and jewelry catalogs."
Cherie was surprised.
She had never seen Frederick pamper a woman like this. He was always generous, but this level of thoughtfulness was new.
After Cherie left, Frederick continued drinking his coffee.
He liked Charlotte and enjoyed her care. If a little effort could lead to a pleasant relationship, Frederick thought it was worth it.
He picked out some expensive clothes and jewelry and had them delivered to the apartment on Saturday.
After finishing these tasks, he went into the conference room for a meeting.
Frederick wrapped up work at 11 PM, and the driver took him back to the apartment.
Charlotte was still awake, sitting on the carpet in her pajamas with reports scattered on the coffee table.
When Frederick returned, she put them away.
Charlotte asked, "I made some food. Want to eat?"
Frederick took off his coat, tossed it on the sofa, and leaned in to kiss her for a long time.
After a while, he said hoarsely, "I'll shower first, then I'll eat."
Charlotte brought him pajamas and took his temperature after his shower.
Luckily, his fever had gone down.
"Drink more water, and you should be fine by tomorrow," Charlotte said with a smile.
Frederick enjoyed her care, feeling comfortable both physically and mentally. While eating, he suddenly asked, "Did you take care of Ethan like this before?"
Charlotte was taken aback.
Before she could respond, Frederick smiled faintly. "Just asking."
Charlotte didn't think there was anything to hide. She softly replied, "When we're together, we naturally take care of each other."
"And after breaking up?"
Charlotte rested her chin on her hand, her fingers gently brushing his nose.
He really was handsome!
Charlotte spoke honestly, "After breaking up, there's no need to care anymore."
She thought for a moment and said, "It's better not to stay in touch."
Charlotte felt this was the answer Frederick wanted, so she said it truthfully. But Frederick wasn't very happy after hearing it. He frowned slightly but said nothing.
That night, Frederick only kissed her for a while before going to sleep without doing anything else.
Charlotte thought he was probably too tired.
Men do have their limits!
Early in the morning, Frederick shattered her thoughts.
Despite just recovering, he went for a morning run. Charlotte couldn't stay in bed either and got up to make breakfast.
The doorbell rang.
Charlotte thought Frederick had forgotten his keys and opened the door without much thought.
A well-dressed lady stood outside, accompanied by a driver, carrying a lot of supplements.
It was Frederick's mother, Laura Hawkins.
Laura was delighted to see Charlotte.
She had heard from Chloe that Frederick was living with someone, but she hadn't believed it until now, seeing it with her own eyes and recognizing the person.
Compared to Laura's joy, Charlotte was clearly more uneasy.
She greeted Laura and invited her in.
Laura had the driver bring in the supplements and then dismissed him, not wanting to scare Charlotte.
Laura sat on the sofa, sipping coffee, her gaze fixed on Charlotte.
The place had changed a lot, indicating they had been living together for quite some time.
Laura had Charlotte sit down and asked a few casual questions before inquiring about her zodiac sign.
Charlotte knew Laura had misunderstood and thought she and her son was in a serious relationship, but she didn't know how to explain. After all, she was indeed sleeping with Frederick.
Charlotte softly said, "Aries."
According to the fortune teller, Frederick had a chance to marry before 30 with an Aries.
So Laura treated Charlotte even better.
She practically regarded her as a daughter-in-law and invited her to Chloe's birthday party. Charlotte, unable to refuse the warm invitation, was in a dilemma when Frederick returned!
He looked at the supplements piled in the living room and then at his mother.
Frederick calmly asked, "Mom, what brings you here?"
Laura gave her son a gentle look and said, "I heard from Cherie that you weren't feeling well, so I came to bring some things and check on you. I didn't expect someone to be taking care of you, which makes me feel much better."
Laura secretly signaled to Frederick.
Aries!
Frederick glanced at Charlotte, who was feeling uncomfortable.
He coaxed his mother, "Charlotte and I have to go to work soon. You should head back. I saw Frank downstairs."
Laura, having finally met Charlotte, was not willing to leave easily.
She took off her Chanel coat and million-dollar watch, gently saying, "Then you guys go change. I'll make breakfast for you both before you head to work!"
Frederick slowly wiped the sweat off his face with a towel and glanced at Charlotte again.
Charlotte was particularly embarrassed.
He suddenly smiled. "Alright." Then he took Charlotte into the master bedroom.
With the door closed, he teased her, "My mom hasn't cooked in decades. Thanks to you, I get to eat her cooking today."
Charlotte bit her lip lightly. "She has misunderstood that I'm your girlfriend."
Frederick wrapped his arm around her waist and leaned in to kiss her.
After a long, lingering kiss, he pressed his forehead against hers and softly asked, "Aren't you?"
Charlotte looked up, her eyes glistening.
She whispered, "I'm not."
Frederick lightly pecked her lips and said in a raspy voice, "I don't have a wife, nor do I have other women. We sleep in the same bed every night and have been intimate. Charlotte, do you think we're not a couple?"
He lived up to being a lawyer; his eloquence was top-notch.
Charlotte couldn't find words to refute. She was so angry that her eyes turned slightly red. "I don't want to deceive your mother."
Frederick chuckled softly.
He gently opened the door and whispered in her ear, "Then let's go tell her now that we're just physically involved, temporarily living together, and will part ways one day! Charlotte, do you want to tell her that?"
Charlotte glared at him. "You!"
Frederick was about to say something when Laura's gentle voice came from the living room. "Frederick, Charlotte, are you done changing?"
Laura was excited, lightly knocked on the door. As soon as she touched it, the door opened automatically.
Frederick was pressing Charlotte onto the sofa, holding her face and kissing her deeply.
Laura's face turned red.
Frederick really was something.
