Chapter 335 Do You Still Love Me (Part 3)

In the dim light, Charlotte leaned into him, her face pressed against his waist. It was a pretty intimate hug, but she was super bummed out.

After all the crap theyd been through, she'd forgotten what it felt like to really love him. She was lost in her own head, thinking that being a good wife and mom would bring back the good old days.

Turns out, she hadn't moved on at all.

Frederick held her close, gently patting her back.

Later, they had dinner. Charlotte was worried about the kids and wanted to head home, but Frederick turned off the lights and pulled her onto the couch. They were so close she could smell the faint scent of tobacco on him.

His voice was all raspy. "Charlotte, tell me about the past."

This apartment was packed with their memories—good and bad. He wanted to hear it all.

Charlotte leaned against his chest and murmured, "You've flipped through that diary a million times; you must have it memorized by now."

Frederick chuckled softly.

He lowered his head, leaned in close, his nose brushing against hers. "Do you know why I like you?"

Charlotte gently shook her head. She really had no clue!

Frederick softly caressed her delicate face, his voice even huskier. "Back when I was handling a case in Kyro, before coming home, I knew I had a wife. I looked up your info and kinda knew how we met, but I couldn't wrap my head around having a wife. I kept thinking about how to ditch you. But when I got home and saw you at the airport, I didn't even have to try to remember your face. I just knew it was you."

Charlotte asked him why.

He suddenly smiled, pressing his lips to hers as he slowly spoke, "Because you're beautiful! I'm not the type to fall in love easily, but when I saw you pregnant, I knew if I had a wife, she'd look like you."

Charlotte had always been his type, amnesia or not.

He admitted he was first drawn to her looks; otherwise, they wouldn't have been intimate so quickly. Between a guy and a girl, it started with the eyes before it hit the heart.

He didn't hide this from Charlotte.

The moment he truly fell for her was when he saw the diary and chased her to the cemetery after she signed the divorce papers. The moment Charlotte put on the wedding ring had a huge impact on him.

From that moment, he feared losing her.

He shared a lot of his thoughts, not knowing if Charlotte heard them. When he looked down, she was already asleep in his arms, her face peaceful.

Frederick kissed her lips lightly and whispered, "Goodnight."

The next morning, he took her back to the villa, tidying everything up before the kids woke up; everything proceeding as usual.

Lola finished her breakfast and climbed into the car.

She carried a small box filled with pretty cherry tomatoes, ready to share with Johnny.

In the hall, Frederick pinched Charlotte's ear and whispered, "Go change your clothes."

Charlotte hesitated.

He leaned in and kissed her, his gaze deep. Finally, Charlotte went upstairs to change and joined him in taking Lola to preschool.

At the preschool, Lola unbuckled her seatbelt and jumped out.

Johnny was in line. He was good-looking, and the girls in preschool liked to stand around him. Lola ran over and confidently cut in line.

Johnny told her to stand properly.

He moved to the back of the line himself.

But he took her little backpack and cherry tomatoes.

Lola was bummed at first, but now she was strutting around all happy, her golden hair shining with confidence.

Charlotte rarely smiled. She leaned against Frederick and softly said, "Lola is just like you!"

Frederick gently wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

After getting in the car, he buckled up and turned to look at her.

Charlotte gave a faint smile. "I promised to see the doctor, and I won't back out."

Frederick reached out to stroke her golden hair, then pulled her close to rest her head on his shoulder, whispering, "Charlotte, it's not about sex."

Charlotte was depressed; she needed a healthy mind.

He was worried she might get the wrong idea.

Charlotte gently pushed him away, sitting up straight with a slight blush on her face. "I know."

Frederick looked at her deeply. Lately, he was always on edge. He really thought the doctor had been seeing the wrong patient and that Charlotte was the one who was messed up, not him.

At the clinic, it was their appointment time.

Frederick took Charlotte inside. The doctor asked them some routine questions, then asked Frederick to step out, wanting to talk to Charlotte alone.

The doctor was super gentle, not prying into Charlotte's privacy, just letting her talk.

The conversation, without her consent, wouldn't be shared with Frederick.

In the dim light and comfy chair, Charlotte slowly relaxed. She spoke softly to the doctor about her feelings and her emotions towards Frederick.

"My husband lost five years of our memories."

"I know he likes me! But I've been let down too many times; I don't dare to easily accept his kindness. I always feel that if I let my guard down and love him again, misfortune and betrayal will come back to me."

"He helped Brenda, a woman I really didn't like. I generously forgave him and even took on the responsibility of providing her with a stable life myself. I thought I did well and I wouldn't care about the past. But whenever we are intimate, I always see Katherine and Brenda's faces in my mind. I always think, I'm not his first choice. If Katherine and Brenda were good girls, would our marriage still be intact?"

"Doctor, I don't believe he loves me."

"Our sex lives have problems. When I realized this, I couldn't accept him. When he gets close to me, my body instinctively rejects him."

The doctor gently asked, "How often do you have marital relations now?"

Charlotte answered with difficulty, "Occasionally once a month."

The doctor was silent.

Charlotte tilted her head back, tears streaming down, her emotions agitated. "I don't even know who to blame."

The doctor gently pressed her, soothingly comforting, "Mrs. Hawkins, it's all in the past."

With her comfort, Charlotte slowly calmed down.

The doctor suggested she take a nap.

After Charlotte fell asleep, the doctor went out.

Frederick stood at the door, expressionless. When he saw the doctor come out, he hurriedly approached. "Where's Charlotte?"

The doctor didn't reveal Charlotte's privacy. She softly discussed with Frederick, "Mrs. Hawkins is under too much pressure. She always wants to be perfect, but there are many unresolved issues between you two. These need you both to slowly open up."

"Is there any way?"

The doctor looked at him and softly said, "I'll prescribe some medication for her. Once her condition improves, you might consider having another child. Of course, during pregnancy, the husband needs to be considerate, which might improve your relationship."

Frederick nodded.

The doctor hesitated but then spoke, "Try to let her relax; don't confine her to the household."

Frederick was slightly stunned.
