Chapter 53 Men Loved Freshness
After the residual warmth on Charlotte's face dissipated.
She called Maria, saying she would visit William at the hospital later.
Unexpectedly, Maria's attitude was very firm. She said, "I'm taking care of your dad here. You and Frederick just got together; you need to spend more time building your relationship."
Charlotte was a bit stunned. She thought, 'Just got together? Building our relationship? Isn't the relationship with Frederick just a sugar daddy arrangement? '
Charlotte wouldn't think that just because someone helps her, they are in love with her. In reality, there aren't many Cinderella.
But she didn't want to make Maria sad, so she replied vaguely.
Maria was happy and hung up after a few more words.
Charlotte put down the phone and was in a daze for a while, not even noticing Jessica standing at the door.
Jessica came over to ask about what was for lunch and saw Charlotte wearing a men's shirt, with her neck and shoulders covered in faint bruises. She thought, 'Mr. Hawkins is so energetic.'
Jessica felt pleased. She drew on her experience and said, "Men always have a sense of novelty at the beginning. You have to bear with it a bit. I'll make some nourishing soup for lunch; it's good for women."
Charlotte knew she misunderstood. But there was no need to explain; it would happen sooner or later anyway.
So Charlotte smiled. "Thank you, Jessica."
Jessica briskly went back to work.
After she left, Charlotte pulled her shirt open a bit to look at herself. Indeed, she was covered in marks. She took a deep breath, having a feeling that Frederick's desire were stronger than the average man's.
Charlotte decided to take a shower.
The water would help clear her mind, and she needed to think carefully about her future.
After lunch, Frederick called her, asking her to pick up some wine from a store. He had stored a few cases of high-end red wine there and wanted Charlotte to bring two bottles home.
Charlotte responded softly, sounding obediently and gently.
Frederick stood in his high-rise office, looking distinguished. He lightly played with the blinds and chuckled. "Aren't you going to ask me what I did today?"
Charlotte was aware that Frederick had already handled her dad's situation. She expressed a few kind words.
Frederick chuckled and didn't elaborate further.
Charlotte glanced at her phone, finding his behavior somewhat puzzling.
Since she was picking up wine for him, the people there would naturally recognize him. Not wanting to disgrace him, Charlotte changed into a more presentable outfit and checked the address.
It was just near the apartment. She decided to walk there to both digest and take a stroll. She had been too tense lately.
Charlotte successfully picked up the wine and walked back with it.
At the apartment entrance, she was suddenly stopped. "Charlotte."
The familiar voice made Charlotte pause. Looking closely, it was Daisy and Jenny.
Charlotte had experienced the coldness of people, her throat tightened upon seeing them. She asked calmly, "Do you need something from me?"
Daisy remained composed, smiling. "There's a café across the street. Let's talk there."
Charlotte, unaware of what had happened today, thought Daisy had come to warn her.
She smiled and didn't refuse.
The trio settled in the café, and Charlotte refrained from ordering anything.
Daisy and Jenny were used to her paying. Seeing Charlotte not paying for a long time, they awkwardly ordered three cups of coffee.
While drinking coffee, Daisy looked at the wine by Charlotte's hand and said amicably, "This wine isn't cheap. One bottle costs over $200,000, right?"
Charlotte suddenly looked up, meeting Daisy's scrutinizing gaze.
At that moment, Charlotte understood everything: her relationship with Frederick was known to everyone in the Cooper family.
