Chapter 564 Lola, You Weren't This Cold Before

Lola dragged her suitcase and slowly walked up to him.

Johnny gave her a deep look, then grabbed her luggage and headed towards the parking lot.

Walking beside him, Lola asked quietly, "How'd you know my flight?"

"I've got my ways."

Lola didn't press further.

Before long, they reached the car. He had driven a black Range Rover, popped the trunk, tossed her luggage in, and asked, "Did you get a gift for Angelina?"

Lola got in the car and answered while buckling up, "Yeah, I did."

Johnny's eyes landed on the wedding ring on her finger, and he asked softly, "What about me? Did you get me anything?"

Lola was a bit taken aback.

She hadn't expected Johnny to ask for a gift. Normally, it wouldn't be a big deal, but since they had just gotten married, it seemed quite normal for him to ask.

Johnny's tone turned indifferent. "I guess not!"

Lola turned her face to look out the window and whispered after a moment, "I'll make it up to you tomorrow."

Johnny didn't say anything.

Lola continued, "There's a celebration at the law firm tomorrow!"

The car stopped at a red light at the intersection. Johnny turned his handsome face slightly, frowning. "You just got back, and now you want to go out again?"

Lola was about to speak when Johnny gently touched her face. "Are you avoiding me? Do you not want to live our newlywed life together? Is the marriage certificate just a piece of paper to you, and you still consider yourself single?"

Lola felt a bit helpless. "No, Johnny. If you don't want me to go, I won't go!"

She knew her compromise was just to avoid a fight.

She had too many things to focus on now—Angelina's illness, Darren's illness, and their future child. She really didn't have the energy to argue or to manage a relationship. But she was willing to coexist peacefully.

Johnny, however, couldn't understand her feelings. The Lola in his heart was probably still the same Lola from back then, but she had long since changed.

After speaking, Lola leaned back in her seat and remained silent. Johnny didn't say anything either.

An hour later, the car stopped in the driveway of the villa.

Through the windshield, they saw Angelina running out of the house excitedly.

Lola sat up straight and said, "Johnny, let's not fight, okay?"

Besides not wanting Angelina to see, she was also very tired.

Johnny didn't respond. He opened the car door, bent down to pick up Angelina, and gently placed her on Lola's lap.

Angelina hugged Lola and called out softly.

Lola kissed her and asked if she had been well and happy these days.

Angelina nodded and whispered in her ear, a bit shyly, "Angelina really likes Daddy! But I miss Darren!"

Johnny took better care of her than Darren did. But Angelina also missed Darren. Now that Mommy was back, she could take her to see Darren.

Angelina was straightforward and spoke her mind.

Johnny heard this as he took the suitcase from the back, but he didn't say anything. He just patted Angelina's head. "Darren isn't in Syeattle right now! We'll see him when he gets back!"

Angelina looked a bit disappointed.

Lola couldn't help but glance at Johnny. He lied without changing his expression, carrying the suitcase in one hand and holding Angelina in the other as he walked upstairs.

Lola sat in the car for a while before finally getting out.

The early spring evening had a bit of a chill to it.

The lights at the entrance were dim, and the housekeeper greeted her, asking, "Lola, should we serve dinner now?"

Lola was pretty tired, but knowing Johnny and Angelina hadn't eaten yet, she said, "Yeah, go ahead."

The housekeeper set the table.

Lola went upstairs to change. As she reached the second floor, Angelina was just coming down.

The housekeeper quickly took her. "Lola, you go ahead."

Lola nodded and pushed open the door to the master bedroom.

Her luggage was in the living room, and Johnny was sitting on the sofa, smoking.

Lola closed the door. "Why are you smoking indoors?"

"You don't like it?" He just looked at her, then put out the cigarette.

Lola took her luggage to the walk-in closet, quickly unpacked, and changed into loungewear.

The door opened softly.

Johnny appeared at the door, quietly watching her, and asked, "Are you going to see Darren?"

Lola lowered her eyes, looking at the clothes in her hands.

After a long pause, she said, "Do you want the truth or a lie?"

Johnny's voice was hoarse. "The truth."

Lola turned to him, thinking for a bit before she spoke, "Darren doesn't have much time left. He doesn't have any close family, and those who are around are just after his money. Johnny, I don't want to explain the difference between Darren and Melissa to you, but I can say that when I'm with you, I've never wronged you."

"And now?" he asked her, "Now that we're married, will you still see him?"

Lola put down the clothes in her hands. "Let's eat."

As she walked past him, he grabbed her wrist.

Then she fell into his warm embrace. He just kissed her lightly on the ear. "I believe you."

Lola's body trembled slightly.

Johnny quickly let her go, his tone becoming gentle. "Let's go downstairs for a meal; Angelina must be getting anxious. Her temper isn't great, just like you when you were little."

Lola smiled faintly and followed him downstairs.

Dinner went peacefully.

After dinner, to make up for the days she had neglected her, Lola personally gave Angelina a bath. She also lay by her side, coaxing her to sleep.

Angelina snuggled up to her. "Mommy smells so nice."

Lola smiled softly and touched Angelina's cheek.

Angelina obediently closed her eyes.

Lola had taken a bath with her, and now she was a bit tired, leaning against the headboard and dozing off.

The lights dimmed, and she opened her eyes to meet Johnny's gaze.

He must have taken a shower in the guest room, looking fresh and cool. He asked her, "Is Angelina asleep?"

His voice was very gentle. Maybe she was just too tired, or maybe it was just late.

Lola nodded.

The next second, Johnny picked up her slender body, whispering as he walked, "Let's go to the guest room, okay?"

Lola could naturally guess what he wanted.

She lightly tugged at his robe and whispered, "I'm in my non-fertile period today."

Johnny carried her through the living room, opened the master bedroom door, and walked into the hallway. The warm yellow lights in the hallway of the villa looked ambiguous in the deep night.

Hearing this, he looked down at her, his voice raspy. "Lola, do you think making love is just for having kids? Are you saying that if there's no chance of getting pregnant, you won't let me be close to you?"

Lola actually did mean that. But she couldn't say yes! Otherwise, Johnny would have gone crazy tonight.

She lowered her eyes and said softly, "I'm a bit tired."

"Then we'll do it fewer times." With that, he opened the guest room door and walked to the bed in a few steps.

Johnny placed her on the soft bed, her slender figure contrasting with the dark sheets.

Clearly, he had been holding back. With one hand supporting her head, he kissed her passionately. Soon, they were making love.

Lola turned her head to the side, enduring him, lightly biting her lip.

After a moment, Johnny noticed her lack of enjoyment and felt a bit disappointed. He leaned close to her ear and asked softly, "Are you uncomfortable? You weren't this cold before."

Lola used to really enjoy sleeping with him.

She shook her head lightly, her voice hoarse. "It's okay."

Johnny wanted her to feel desire too, but no matter how gentle he was, Lola kept holding back.

Later, he was quite rough, and finally made Lola cry.

She was on the verge of tears, hugging him and begging for mercy. It took half the night before he reluctantly let her go!

After his outburst, his temper calmed down a lot.

After taking a shower, he returned to the bed and asked softly if she wanted to wash up.

Lola didn't even have the strength to lift her hand. She really wanted to just fall asleep, but she had promised to stay by Angelina's side for the night, and the little girl would be so disappointed if she didn't see her in the morning!

After a long time, she gritted her teeth. "I'll wash myself!"

Johnny chuckled softly in her ear. She cursed and painfully got out of bed to go to the bathroom. As the door closed, Johnny's expression darkened.

He reached for a cigarette from the nightstand and smoked slowly, savoring the recent lovemaking.

Lola was different from before. Clearly, the last time in the apartment wasn't like this. He thought maybe it was because he had mentioned Darren, and she couldn't let go!

Three years had indeed made a difference!

He thought he should forget about Darren's existence.

If Lola wanted to take care of him, so be it. Darren would eventually leave their lives.

Johnny couldn't help but laugh at himself.

He knew himself too well; this magnanimity was just a matter of weighing options!

After figuring it out, he felt much better. When Lola came out, he had already put out the cigarette. He walked up to her and sniffed behind her ear. "Smells good!"

Lola smiled faintly. "Isn't it the same body wash as yours?"

Johnny clearly wasn't talking about that.

He pressed her against the wall, his hand slipping into her robe, his voice even huskier. "One more time!"

Lola was too exhausted to move! She leaned against his shoulder, silently resisting, but Johnny still made love to her gently. This time, he was unusually gentle.

As desire overtook Lola, Johnny leaned down and kissed her. Under the light, their bodies intertwined.

The next morning, Lola woke up to find Johnny and Angelina gone. Glancing at the clock, she realized it was already ten o'clock.

She groaned and thought, 'Overindulgence is truly terrifying!'

She remembered she had a meeting at the law firm in the morning!

What now?

Tell her secretary she overslept because she did it too much last night?

Her secretary's call came through, sweetly asking, "The meeting starts in ten minutes. Are you at the firm?"

Lola closed her eyes!

She didn't want to move at all!

Holding her phone, Lola cleared her throat. "Reschedule the meeting to ten tomorrow morning!"

The secretary sensed something was off. "Are you sick?"

Lola mumbled, "Yes, a bit unwell. Let's talk tomorrow!"

As for the celebration, she probably couldn't make it either!

Lola tossed her phone aside, hugging the pillow, wanting to sleep more. She thought Johnny had taken Angelina to the office, leaving her alone at home.

Occasionally sleeping in wasn't a bad thing.

The bedroom door opened gently, and they walked in. Lola pretended to be asleep!

Angelina leaned on the bed, her voice very soft. "Why isn't Mommy awake yet?"

After a while, Johnny's voice came. "Mommy is tired!"

Angelina raised her little head, her big eyes blinking. "Why is Mommy tired? Is it because of the flight?"

Johnny cleared his throat. "Yes! Mommy is tired from the flight!"

Angelina nodded. Her little head rested on the bed, looking at Lola, occasionally reaching out to touch her.

Lola struggled to hold back!

Johnny saw her eyelashes flutter and guessed she was awake, smiling lightly.

Just then, the housekeeper came upstairs, saying she was taking Angelina downstairs for some water.

Johnny took the opportunity to send Angelina downstairs.

Soon, it was just him and Lola in the bedroom, with Lola still pretending to sleep.

He remembered that summer when she had her first period, hiding just like this, both funny and cute.

Johnny couldn't help but lean in, whispering in her ear, "Did you enjoy last night?"

Lola couldn't pretend anymore and opened her eyes.

Johnny leaned gently against the headboard, reaching out to touch her face, whispering, "We did it several times last night!"

Even with her thick skin, Lola couldn't handle this kind of conversation.

She sat up, ruffling her hair. "What time is it? I need to go to the firm!"

Rather than listen to his cheeky remarks, she would rather go to the firm for a meeting.

Johnny said calmly, "Your secretary called earlier. I told her you were too tired and wouldn't be going today. Didn't she call you?"

Seeing her embarrassed look, he found it adorable.

Lola lay back down, staring at the ceiling. "I need at least a week to recover!"

"Why do I feel like your stamina isn't what it used to be?"

"I feel like you're more of a jerk than before!"

Johnny wasn't angry; he just quietly looked at her.

Lola turned her back to him. "I'm going to sleep!"

He gently turned her slender shoulder, resting his chin on her shoulder, whispering, "The toys you brought back, Angelina loves them! She's been playing with them all morning! And I love making love with you; even a whole night isn't enough."

Lola pulled the blanket over her head.

He was shameless!

Johnny chuckled softly, then whispered in her ear, "Let's not mention Darren anymore and live well together, okay?"
