Chapter 258 Chloe, You Still Love Me

Their eyes locked, and neither said a word.

Chloe never thought she'd bump into Andrew at the hospital.

This whole scene took her back to the night they first hooked up, which, surprise surprise, also happened at a hospital.

He was wasted, pinned her down on the couch, and things got wild.

Clearly, Andrew was having a flashback too!

He was always the careful, think-before-you-act type.

But with Chloe, he threw caution to the wind. He got swept up by the girl 16 years younger. Probably the craziest thing he'd ever done.

It wasn't just 'cause she was young and hot.

Andrew had seen plenty of beautiful women, some even more stunning and charming, and they were all considerate and understanding.

Not like her, clinging to him and purring "Andrew" like a little kitten!

That "Andrew" was like a drug to him!

After what felt like forever, Andrew broke the silence, "You here to see Lola?"

Chloe was caught off guard and took a moment to snap back. She nodded. "Yeah! She's doing much better. Should be out tomorrow!"

Andrew was about to say something when Nathan stepped out of the elevator, looking a bit surprised to see Chloe. He quickly pulled it together and gave her a nod, "Miss Hawkins!"

Chloe nodded back and turned to Andrew, "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

Andrew grabbed her hand. "Hold up!"

Nathan took a deep breath and looked away.

Chloe tried to shake off his hand, but Andrew's grip was too strong.

"Let's talk," Andrew said, his voice low.

They ended up in a coffee shop. Nathan booked a private room and stood guard outside.

Inside, Andrew sent the waiter away and made the coffee himself.

He was usually the one being served, but here he was, doing it himself.

He placed a cup in front of Chloe. "Try it!"

Chloe pursed her lips. "I don't like it."

Andrew gave a tolerant smile, his tone surprisingly gentle. "I forgot, you like cider."

Chloe looked at him quietly.

The man in front of her was still as refined and scholarly as she remembered.

She had once been head over heels for him, but now she didn't want to be.

She spoke coldly, "Mr. Devereux, did you bring me here just to talk about this?"

Andrew walked to the mini-fridge, grabbed a drink for her.

Chloe didn't touch it.

He inserted a straw and said softly, "Chloe, I've always wanted to know, how have you been these past two years?"

Chloe felt a pang in her heart.

She tilted her head slightly and said nonchalantly, "Pretty good!"

She said it lightly, but Andrew knew it wasn't simple.

She had been pampered since childhood and didn't know how to do anything!

He wanted to ask more, but Chloe smiled lightly and asked in return, "What do you want to know? Do you want to know how embarrassed I was, and then have me repent for not telling you about the pregnancy back then, or for not aborting the child?"

Andrew's handsome face turned pale.

But he still smiled. "Don't say that out of spite."

Chloe lowered her eyes. "You've always treated me like a child, haven't you, Mr. Devereux? If you saw me as a child, how could you have a relationship with me? Were you tired of your other women and wanted something new?"

She controlled her emotions. "You see, there are so many differences between us! We are from two different worlds. You said we were not suitable, and I didn't cling to you. I listened to you and forgot about the past! So, what do you mean by this now?"

Andrew's heart ached.

They were indeed worlds apart, and he could hear the resentment in her words!

She had every right to hate him!

They had indeed been very close, sweet and wild.

Any woman would think that a man would eventually marry her!

Andrew had thought about it too.

But he had let her down!

Andrew wanted to hold her hand, but she wouldn't let him.

She collected her emotions. "Sorry, I lost my composure! If you want to see Gavin, have your secretary contact me, and I'll arrange it!"

Andrew asked gently, "Can I visit Hawkins Mansion as well?"

Chloe was visibly stunned.

She wanted to refuse, but the Devereux family was related to the Hawkins family by marriage, so she couldn't refuse.

Andrew didn't push her further.

He had run into her by chance today and didn't have any other intentions. He just wanted to talk to her. It had been a long time since he had a simple conversation with someone, without any calculations, just a pure conversation between a man and a woman.

Chloe left in a hurry.

She walked downstairs, opened the car door, and was about to get in when she suddenly stopped.

Across the street, the rear window of Andrew's car rolled down, revealing a mature and beautiful woman inside.

Chloe recognized her.

Celeste Murphy, Andrew's right-hand woman and fling!

Celeste gave her a nod.

Chloe sneered. 'Wow, how classy! Bringing Celeste along on a business trip while having a heart-to-heart with me!'

Andrew followed her down and noticed the open car window.

He frowned and walked over to Chloe. "I brought her for business."

Chloe replied coolly, "Mr. Devereux, you don't need to explain to me! Besides, can you honestly say nothing ever happened between you two?"

Andrew was silent.

That was ages ago, just a one-night stand.

Now, they were just regular colleagues.

Chloe said nothing more. She got into her car, buckled up, and lightly pressed the gas pedal.

The red sports car zoomed past him.

In that fleeting moment, Andrew saw a tear gently slide down her cheek.

'Chloe cried?' Andrew pressed his lips together, watching her car's exhaust.

Celeste got out of the car and walked over to him, saying considerately, "Mr. Devereux, is there a misunderstanding between you and Miss Hawkins? Do you want me to explain?"

Andrew's heart sank.

He turned around, looking at Celeste, instantly putting on an impeccable facade.

Andrew smiled calmly. "No. Chloe is just standing up for her brother!"

He never mentioned his relationship with Chloe.

Celeste smiled faintly.

Nathan hurried over, having seen the scene earlier, and scolded the driver, "Why did you park the car here?"

The driver said awkwardly, "Celeste requested it!"

Nathan looked at Andrew. "Mr. Devereux, what now?"

Andrew's tone was indifferent. "You all go back to the hotel first. I'm going to check on Lola!"

Nathan, knowing his intentions, turned to Celeste with a smile. "Looks like Mr. Devereux will be spending the night at Chloe's house! Perfect. We can relax too. Celeste, I'll take you out for a drink tonight! Syeattel's nightlife is nothing like Copenhagen's!"

Nathan sent them away, and Andrew smoked three or four cigarettes in the parking lot.

When Chloe cried, he knew she still loved him!

Andrew's heart was heavy with sorrow.

He wished he could immediately shed his constraints and give her a home, so she wouldn't have to cry alone anymore.

But could he do that now?

He couldn't!

Andrew, with his long fingers holding a white cigarette, crossed the street.

His looks and demeanor were exceptional, and many women couldn't help but glance at him as he walked by, showing no signs of his age.

He reached the hospital room and knocked on the door.

Frederick opened the door, looking slightly surprised but not unfriendly.

Frederick seemed to have forgotten the nasty fight in Copenhagen, speaking warmly and even pouring Andrew a glass of water, casually talking about Lola's condition, and finally adding, "If you had come half an hour earlier, you would have seen Chloe!"

Andrew, holding the water glass, deliberated and said, "I saw her! We had coffee together!"

Frederick leaned against the sofa, smiling. "I didn't know Chloe drank coffee. I really can't understand how you two messed around back then; you clearly don't match at all!"

Andrew was disgusted by his words!

He put down the glass, smiling. "Chloe and I have Gavin, after all. The affection between couples is a deep-rooted connection that time can't completely erase. But I do envy you; if you reconcile with Charlotte, you'll have been married twice. That's something I can't match!"

Frederick flipped through some documents.

He looked at Andrew again, who was still calmly drinking water!

Frederick said lightly, "You don't need to envy me! Our family is very open-minded and would never use Gavin to tie you down, so you can continue living your carefree life. As for Chloe, my mother has already arranged dates for her, and she has agreed!"

Andrew's fingers, holding the glass with great strength, turned white.

Frederick glanced at his hand and smiled lightly.

Andrew forced a smile.

Fortunately, at that moment, Lola woke up. The little girl sat up, rubbing her eyes and calling for Andrew.

Andrew truly cared for her.

Even though he felt bad, he still walked to the bedside, picked up Lola, kissed her, and took out a talisman from his pocket to put on her.

Frederick recognized its value and spoke more gently, "Thank you for your thoughtfulness!"

Holding Lola, Andrew asked in a low voice about the follow-up court proceedings for Katherine. Frederick explained everything in detail.

Andrew pondered and whispered, "To be safe, I'll make some additional arrangements."

He kissed Lola.

He absolutely couldn't let Charlotte or Lola be harmed by that crazy woman again.
