Chapter 673 5247, It's Landon's Unspoken Love!
Billy finished talking, and the whole room went dead quiet. Landon's face twisted in annoyance. Being told to see a urologist and a bunch of other specialists, especially in front of an ex, was beyond embarrassing for him. His pride took a serious hit. But Kingsley, utterly indifferent to Landon's feelings, simply spoke the unvarnished truth.
Amara, initially skeptical, saw Landon's mortified expression, realizing Kingsley was telling the truth. She was pretty shocked. Caitlyn was even more stunned.
Did Kingsley just say Landon had erectile dysfunction? Was it because he was getting older?
But since their breakup was so messy, Caitlyn didn't think it was right to ask about such personal stuff. She brought some fresh fruit to visit.
Amara quickly got everyone seated. Billy, initially hovering by the door, decided to stay and see the situation through, sensing the dynamics at play.
Kingsley couldn't see, but his hearing was sharp. He pinpointed Caitlyn's direction and asked, “How's the asset liquidation going?”
With Landon there, she felt a bit awkward. She replied, “Why are you asking about that?”
Kingsley, not caring, said, “Of course, I'm worried about you! I'm afraid you'll run off. Didn't you leave that servant of yours and Landon's at my place?”
Caitlyn almost jumped. Why was Kingsley bringing this up in front of Landon? But she was always a bit scared of Amara and didn't want to raise her voice at Kingsley in front of her.
In the end, she said softly, “Just leave her at your place a bit longer. I'll definitely take her back when I return to the country.”
Kingsley always had a knack for saying hurtful things. Even though he couldn't see, he didn't stop. He snorted. “You better come back soon. Don't keep people waiting too long!”
Everyone got the hidden meaning in his words. Amara quietly pinched his waist to remind him.
Kingsley turned his head to her with an innocent face. "Did I say something wrong? Amara, you must have misunderstood me. I was talking about Hazel waiting, not Landon! Obviously, Landon is already married, so he wouldn't be waiting for Caitlyn. That would be immoral! Besides, he's busy with his urology appointments now. He doesn't have time for romance. Waiting would be pointless."
His words almost made Landon explode with anger.
Caitlyn initially felt uneasy, but as she listened, she started to enjoy it. Someone like Landon deserved to be put in his place by Kingsley!
She lingered a while longer, her gaze drifting to Amara, who had taken a seat beside Kingsley, peeling fruit to feed him, and embodying the very essence of a devoted wife. Kingsley savored every moment of her attention. Caitlyn, in spite of herself, couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy.
How many couples in this world were like Kingsley and Amara, still so into each other after all these years? Even when they were mad at each other, they couldn't help but keep each other in their hearts. Plus, they were about to have their second child!
Landon didn't leave. He saw the envy in Caitlyn's eyes and felt a pang in his heart.
When it was time to go, Landon followed behind her. In the long corridor, he saw her slender back and softly called her name, "Caitlyn."
Caitlyn paused but didn't stop, continuing to walk towards the elevator and pressing the down button. Landon caught up just as the elevator doors opened. There was no one else inside. Caitlyn walked in and tried to close the door, but Landon held it open and followed her in. She tried not to look at him, staring up at the numbers.
Landon said hoarsely, "What Kingsley said isn't true."
Caitlyn was momentarily stunned, then got what he meant. She said softly, "This has nothing to do with me! This is something Mrs. Carter should worry about."
Landon looked down at her cold face, his posture very humble. He said, "Let's not talk about that! I heard from Amara that you plan to go abroad and are already liquidating your assets. Where are you going, and for how long?"
Caitlyn felt her eyes grow a bit warm. In the past, she would have been angry with him, but after so many instances, she didn't even have the energy to be angry anymore! After all, he was Phoebe's husband now. How pathetic would she be to let her emotions be swayed by him again?
After a long pause, Caitlyn said calmly, "Two or three years."
She didn't say where she was going. Yet Landon understood her meaning. She wanted to prevent their paths from entangling once more.
He smiled bitterly. "Don't worry, I won't pester you! Kingsley is right. I have a wife now. Clinging to you would be wrong for both of us."
Caitlyn didn't say anything, just slightly tilting her head.
After talking for a while, the elevator arrived.
Caitlyn walked out, and Landon called after her, "Caitlyn!"
Caitlyn slowly turned around, "Mr. Carter, is there anything else?"
He looked steadily at her slightly red eyes, knowing she was also feeling bad. He stepped out of the elevator and slowly walked up to her, taking out a gift box from his pocket and saying, "Caitlyn, I know you hate me! Actually... I hate myself too! But this is how things are now! I might not be able to give you New Year's gifts in the future, so take this one. Consider it all the New Year's gifts for the rest of my life, given in advance."
Caitlyn was stunned.
Landon smiled slightly. "Caitlyn, Happy New Year."
These words made her want to cry again. She didn't want it, but Landon pressed the gift box into her hand, looking deeply into her eyes for a few seconds, then quickly leaving.
Downstairs, a black car was waiting. After Landon got in, it drove away. Caitlyn stood there, quietly watching.
'This should be the last time they meet,' she thought. She then opened the gift box and found a check for $52.47 million!
Caitlyn quietly looked at the numbers, her eyes slowly becoming blurry until she could hardly see anything. Why did Landon have to do this? Why did he have to be so hypocritical at the end? She chose not to take the check and decided to send it back.
Phoebe, with her many informants, saw the amount on the check and caused a huge scene, almost losing the baby. Landon didn't indulge her, which turned the situation into a massive uproar. Everyone in Boston knew that Landon and Phoebe were not getting along.
After Landon and Caitlyn left, Kingsley felt a bit regretful. Having them around made the hospital stay less boring.
Amara was quite speechless, but she was still a bit curious. She asked, "How did you know Landon was seeing a urologist?"
Kingsley suddenly chuckled lightly, his face turned towards the door.
Billy sensibly got up, "You guys chat, I'll keep watch at the door."
The door closed with a faint sound.
Kingsley leaned against the headboard, his handsome face showing a casual expression. He said, "During the social engagements, if it's an all-men gathering, the conversation can get quite explicit. Besides, many people know about the troubles in Landon's household. In Boston, they are mindful of Landon's dignity and don't say it to his face, but when they go on business trips to Seattle, they bring it up for entertainment."
Amara frowned. "You guys talk about these things at social gatherings?"
Kingsley chuckled. "Successful men are still human! Do you think they're saints who don't fool around or use foul language? Men gossip too—they're quite keen on talking about who's got the hottest secretary or who's just snagged a new babe."
Amara looked quite disdainful, and Kingsley touched and patted her hand. He continued, "Mrs. Hawkins, you're lucky to have found such a reliable man like me!"
Amara grabbed his hand and bit it. "I think I need to reassess you!"
Kingsley smiled lightly.
After Kingsley was discharged from the hospital, he recuperated at home. Amara wanted to help Kingsley with his work, but Frederick and Charlotte were worried that she was overworking herself.
So Frederick went back to work, and Charlotte often came to visit Kingsley and Amara and took care of the children at home.
Originally, Amara thought the period of Kingsley's temporary blindness would be tough. Unexpectedly, within half a month, his vision returned.
It was a night when the moon was setting. Amara was putting the two children to sleep, and Kingsley woke up from a nap to find his vision clear. He couldn't believe it and stretched out his hand, seeing his fingers.
Kingsley threw himself back onto the bed, feeling incredibly happy. He heard a sound at the main bedroom door, his hearing had improved during this time, and he recognized it as Amara and Snowflake.
Snowflake came in first. The little dog was quite attached to him and jumped onto his lap. Kingsley caught it and petted its little belly.
Then he looked towards the door without focus and asked softly, "Have you fed it?"
Amara paused in her steps, looking at Kingsley for a long moment before gently squatting beside him, placing her pale hand on his knee, and asking softly, "Feeling better today? Can you see?"
Kingsley looked straight ahead and slowly shook his head.
Amara looked at him for a long moment again, then lightly leaned her head on his leg, murmuring, "I really hope you can see soon!"
Kingsley lowered his head and gently stroked her hair. He said hoarsely, "I feel a bit sticky after sleeping, help me take a bath."
During this time, he couldn't see, so Amara had been helping him bathe. Naturally, she wouldn't refuse his request now. Amara nodded. "I'll get the bathrobe."
But as she got up, her slender wrist was caught. Kingsley's voice was unusually hoarse. "No need! Put it on after."
Amara smiled slightly. "Alright!"
He sat in the chair while she half-squatted to unbutton his shirt, starting with the white shirt buttons, one by one, pulling it out from his belt. When he was exposed, Amara said softly, "You don't seem to work out much. How do you have abs? Aren't office men supposed to have big bellies?"
She not only said it but also reached out and touched it.
Kingsley's breathing became rapid as his blue eyes locked onto Amara. His voice grew even hoarser as he said, "Just control body fat and you'll have them!"
Amara withdrew her hand and continued to unbuckle his belt. Her frame was slender, and her fingers were long and thin. Kingsley didn't know if she was doing it intentionally or not, but she seemed to always touch his sensitive spots. His forehead was already sweating before his pants were even off, and he couldn't help but call her name, "Amara!"
"What's wrong?" Amara pretended not to know, her small hands skillfully removing his outer pants. Kingsley couldn't keep up the act and didn't want to endure it anymore. He grabbed her hand, making her sit sideways on his lap, and whispered in her ear, "When did you find out?"
Amara laughed lightly, playfully asking, "You mean when did I find out you could see?"
Kingsley snorted. "I thought I didn't give it away."
Amara gently hugged his waist, a slender finger lightly tracing his sexy abs, laughing softly. "Probably when you petted Snowflake. You were too precise, not like someone who couldn't see."
Kingsley was a bit annoyed but also amused. He lowered his head to kiss her, saying reluctantly, "Didn't expect to be exposed by a little dog."
Amara accepted Kingsley's kiss, not rejecting his advances. She knew he had been holding back for the past half month, often wanting but ultimately enduring. Amara tilted her head to kiss him, murmuring, "You've been doing well lately. I should reward you properly."
Kingsley's face was slightly flushed, looking very sexy.
As Amara kissed down his throat, he gently picked her up and carried her to the bed. She was pregnant, and it was too uncomfortable on the single chair.
Amara was placed at the foot of the bed, Kingsley's high nose brushing against her, back and forth.
He whispered in her ear, "It's been a while; how do you want to do it?"
Amara blushed. She could never get used to his flirting, especially in bed. She looked up at him and said softly, "Don't hurt the baby."
Kingsley nibbled her little nose. "Don't worry! I'll be gentle!"
Amara trusted him completely. In the past, she was always reserved in intimate matters, but now they talked about everything openly, and they were about to get married. She saw him as her husband and would also make demands of him.
When the moment was full of passion, she would blush and hoarsely make requests of him.
Kingsley kissed her and said, "You'll love it!"
Afterward, Kingsley lay on his back, satisfied, and turned his head to Amara. "Tomorrow we're going to try on wedding dresses. This wedding can't be delayed any longer."
He touched her small belly and said, "It's time to give our baby a proper status!"
Amara thought he was quite shameless.
After calming down, she said softly, "Your parents still want the original date. Now that you can see, let's get married on that day!"
She cupped his face and continued, "Actually, the date doesn't matter. What matters is that we're together."
Besides, they were already legally married. Amara didn't care about the formalities.
Kingsley's gaze was gentle. He knew Amara didn't care about those things, but he wanted to give her a grand wedding. Maybe it wasn't important to others, but for Amara, the wedding was significant.
Once married, she would be part of the Hawkins family—legitimately. And Amara would no longer be an orphan; she would have many relatives.
They chatted for a while longer. Kingsley called Frederick and Charlotte, telling them about his restored vision. Frederick was quite calm, only saying, "If you can see, get back to work at the company tomorrow!"
He was exhausted!
Kingsley looked at the phone and laughed. He turned back to kiss Amara. "Amara, we'll get married on time."
In early autumn, Kingsley and Amara got married.
Many people attended that day. Business elites and numerous relatives from the groom's side were present, but very few from the bride's side. Originally, Amara was going to walk towards Kingsley alone, but Landon flew in by plane at the last minute.
As a senior member of the bride's side, he escorted Amara and handed her over to Kingsley.
Phoebe was quite bothered by it. She said, "Is Amara that important? Do you need to play the role of her father?"
